    Great tutorial. Fascinating. Am I right in thinking that the dark areas of the original image only absorb some of the paint and so leave paint behind on the gel plate, but the lighter areas on the original are able to absorb all the ink from the gel plate. This would explain why the amount of paint to start with is critical.

    This is a great demo and so lovely to hear an Aussie voice!!! I’ve just started to use a new gelle pad so needing tips. My brayer leaves marks on the pad from the edges of the roller. I wondered if all brayers do that or whether I need another one. Thank you.

    Cool! One question: Some of the paper often stick to the gell plate when I trye to pull it off. Why is that? Something with the paper I use?

    • @lucysartstudio
      @lucysartstudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your paper starts to lift, it can be too much moisture. Your paint needs to be thinner . When I do thick pulls I use hot pressed watercolour paper. Do each layer thinner and give it enough time to dry. On the last pull the e it as long as you can. If the paper dries it is not likely to separate.

    Love this technique! Does anyone know what the copyrights are when using these images? I will want to incorporate into my paintings, that I will sell and I'm thinking this will not be allowed :( Fine for playing and your own use, but I feel it will be a copyright issue.. Anyone have any thoughts? Thank you for sharing this! It's wonderful!

    • @AlbredaWelde
      @AlbredaWelde 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using someone else's image and it only becomes a small part of your overall design (and not as the key focal element) it should fall under "fair use" in copyright terms.

    • @cheriebrown2488
      @cheriebrown2488 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use images from a royalty free website. Then there is no issues for copyright.

    • @RD9_Designs
      @RD9_Designs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can download royalty free images onto a data stick and have it printed on glossy paper at your local print shop.

    • @donnadevine5864
      @donnadevine5864 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlbredaWelde I think it would still be under copyright protection, as the design would be a derivative of the the original.

    I have tried pictures from national geografic and peints do not work with the acryls I have, I guess the texture of the painting as well as pigment will be the factors for success as well as the Jelly as I have tried on a plastic surface

    The instructions with my Gelli plate say using glossy papers on the plate will damage it. I'm trying to print laser printer copies of my original photos from plain printer paper with this technique and the images are not transferring. I'm using a quality brand of acrylic paint, spreading it thin enough, and a hard brayer. Any suggestions?

    • @lucysartstudio
      @lucysartstudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you mean using a glossy photo for this process. No it does not work. It is the process that printers use to print images and the texture of the paper they print on that makes it work. That’s why some magazines work Better than others.
