There you go again, like so many short-sighted people--"a starter bike." I'd be offended, if I didn't realize you just don't understand. I began riding in 2007, at the age of 57. I bought a Shadow VT600. I've put 164,000 miles on it, traveling coast to coast (twice) and border to border and many points in between. Starter bike? Gimme a break. I'm 6'1" and 210 lbs. I have no desire for another bike. Starter, finisher. And ride anywhere. Never trailer it unless it's to the shop (never yet). If you're going, ride.
Hell yeah brother, these bikes are built to last for a reason, so you don't have to buy another one. The only way my '04 VT600CD will die is if I die alongside it after getting intimate with a tree or lamp post or some shit.
How was it on the highway?
@@mikepino4954 No problem keeping up with traffic, if that's what you mean. Some people complain about the high RPM at 70, etc. Well, it's all I've ever known--first bike, started riding in 2006; only bike. I have no complaints, only joy.
It's meant to be an easy to ride, light, non-intimidating, low bike with no worry about being overpowered
Good for you to do so much cruising in it. They're extremely well made and great to be water-cooled.
Mine was happiest at around 60mph.
