"Not only is this 4 frame perfects in a row, you also have to do a perfect R, L, R after a one frame right release *That may not sound so bad on paper-* " No no, tree even without full context I assure you that still sounds VERY bad
Holy shit. In the mid 80s we just tried to beat the game without dying. That was the bar we set... LOL. I'm impressed and amazed your generation has embraced this game and turned it into phsyical and mental challenge. Idk if youve put it all together yet, but thank you for explaining this part by part! I watched a Salt video and mever really understood what inputs were needed exactly where. This is perfect! Good luck in your quest for perfection and thank you Tree!
@@meraldlag4336yeah this has i believe 30 something frame perfects but because the inputs are all so condensed in the frames next to each other along with the weird movements needed it makes this much less feasible for the average person
I remember asking Lekukie about the first room in his second to last 8-4 IL wr and he was like "well, tree got it once, I'll see what I can do" or something
Yup. I failed calc though so I don't quite get where the mistake exactly is - does it come from asuming 1 / inf equals 0, instead of tending to 0, or does it pop up when using conventions to operate with the infinites at the penultimate equation? Cheers!
For keyboard, what if we filled the _ with some invalid input such as l+r?This keybind is disabled on emulators so if we actually press l+r we should get a _ right?
Yes L+R is required to = nothing in order to comply with src rules. Though there aren't any strategies that take advantage of this on keyboard currently (I believe)
You would still have to release right in order to get the left press because otherwise you'd just get L+R and L+R = nothing. So it wouldn't really make a difference
@@ThaAwesome10 “Anything that you cannot do with an original and unmodified NES, brick controller and SMB1 cartridge is prohibited.”Not sure if this means you cannot press l+r at all or you cannot make the game receive that input
actually if you do RLR on the same frame with no right release you actually turn left then back around, which means you're too slow to fall off the block. so it's actually to speed him up enough that he can actually do the ffa
I’ve been tasing, and followed your directions for the sub speed manip in turnaround but it doesn’t seem to be working, is there any more specifics on how it has to be done?
Make sure you never do any random right releases before RLA. Make sure you're jumping on frame 230 when you do RLA. Make sure you get D5 tas accel. Other than that I don't really know what else you could be doing wrong
I would love to. The only thing is I dont really know how subspeed works specfically, but I could research it pretty easily and if I get the motivation to do it I think that would be a good topic. We'll see though
You have to do a very quick wiggle (either R L R, R _ LR, or RL_R) so that on the last frame you're running on the pipe you input left and mario turns around and accelerates faster (because mario accelerates faster opposite the direction he is facing) while losing as little time as possible.
great vid, i really liked the FP counter part, maybe you should consider extending that to the entire game, aka a "4:54.26 with a frame perfect counter" sort of thing.
I have considered making a video for the full game but there are so many different ways to count frame perfects that it makes it really hard to find a definitive answer.
That first Fast Accel might be hard as balls to pull off, but at least you're not spamming a button every two frames for a couple seconds (MKWii), that one is impossible
@@ThaAwesome10 Yeah. His consistency with 8-B first room had a massive drop after he did the run where it died to the last room, due to high nerves and failed inputs.
great educational vid on why destroying your fingers is worth for 2 frames

This is similar number of frame perfects to half of vsc right? Except way more cursed inputs

Can't wait for Niftski to do it in a week's time
Nifki had done this twice, but just not on any category.
I woukd like to see a video counting the number of frame perfect inputs needed to match the human theory tas
That would be kind of hard.
Kosmic (I think, maybe someone else) included a graph of required frame perfects vs time in a video about one of niftskis wr

Isn't the right release in 8-B to slow Mario down so that he can actually do the ffa
I think its a combination of that and getting the right subspeed
