Probably an insane request, but it would be great to get a video or series that includes any required reading between, or leading into, the big events. How you would read through from CoIE to Rebirth would be incredible. Would also be keen to hear more how you put together you custom Joker: last laugh and what the 'missing' issues you mention are and where you'd read them.

Shhhhh we can’t tell people the real meaning behind the word RIP. That’s like giving away what happens in Death and Return of Superman. I don’t know about Rebirth not being a reboot. Titles started over, Supes was back, Donna Troy and Wally came back out of nowhere. I mean the same could be said for any reboot. Some characters were affected more than others.
I have been waiting for a video of comprehensive DC events for so long. I have just read crisis on infinite earth for the first time and it was really good. I enjoyed your video but wanted to give my feedback anyway... this particular video felt you just "enumerated" a list of events without giving any sort of information (besides the chronological order) on what most are about (don't need to be spoilers but at least some sort of synopsis) and what were the "stakes" and why we should care.
I normally do that. But to be honest. I didn’t want to make a real long video. So I tested the waters. It seems people still watched all 30 minutes. Basically I was testing the waters for Batman reading Order this month.
Very cool video. Just discovered your channel. I would love to see an Invasion HC or omnibus. That was a fun event series with good tie-in issues. I didn't know about Armageddon 2001 not having a collection as yet. I actually had several of these annuals and thought the Superman annuals the best. If I'm not mistaken Bryan Hitch drew one of them. Yeah, the ending hacked me off like a lot of people as, at the time, I was reading, and quite enjoying Hawk and Dove.

Really loving your content omar, discovered your channel a couple months ago and haven't missed a video yet. If i may make a suggestion, maybe put timestamps in the description for every book or novel or omnibus and also put the book's details (name, print, number) in the video description. It would really help young collectors get the info they need about what you show us in your videos! Stay awesome!
Amazons Attack itself was written by Will Pfeifer BUT he wasn't writing Wonder Woman other than a single issue (#5). The main Wonder Woman title was being written by Jodi Picoult and both that run and the event are, in my opinion, some of the worst Wonder Woman stories ever written and the entire thing turned out to just be a tie-in to the already abysmal Countdown series.
@@NearMintCondition Which is such a shame because Greg Rucka's run leading up to Infinite Crisis is one of the all-time great WW runs. Then the powers that be decided that she "wasn't relatable enough" and needed to "reconnect with her humanity" (see 52 #47 for a rather insulting scene that shows this direction which, iirc, Rucka tried to fight against it before ultimately letting Morrison write the page at the behest of the editors) Ill-conceived premise aside, the start of the relaunched series wasn't too bad until Picoult took over at #6. And yet, even with how awful it is, the Wonder Woman collector in me kind of wants to do a custom bind of that dumpster fire in proper order with the uncollected issues included. :P
I just read Trinity War today and I see how people didnt like it. It was kinda cliche and generic, but it was a fun read and it's really short, so it's not such a big deal. And it leads into a great event, Forever Evil. Also, I think Trinity War was disliked because it was the epitome of New 52 tie-in event. That's why people hated NU52. I didnt, but most people did. The event made you buy multiple issues of random series like Constantine, The Phantasm, etc. Its not such a big deal, but it's not the ideal reading format... I think that's the biggest reason that NU52, especially Trinity War was hated.
When it originally came out they advertised it as this is THE true future of the DC universe. So much so that storylines from different characters started leading characters on that path. Like Superman Our Worlds at War and Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost.
Everyone talks so highly of Grant Morrison that I went and read Final Crisis... It was awful, there was a lot that happens "off screen" or that didn't make sense... I think he is just a mediocre writer who has tricked everyone into thinking he is complex. I'll stick with the 80's comic.
Final Crisis is notoriously confusing if you haven't read certain other comics beforehand. While his stuff tends to be on the cerebral side, none of it is as hard to "get" as Final Crisis. Basically, you chose the worst thing to read first. You'd be far better off with Animal Man or Doom Patrol. Both of them are extremely good imo and you don't need to know much of anything before going into them.
@@Goomyx1492 I did get the Doom Patrol Omni and I really liked it, the stories are so cleaver. I was really harsh with the guy on my post, but I wrote it while feeling so disappointed and angry by the time I wasted reading it. I'll check Animal Man later this year when the re print is out. Cheers.

The Final Crisis omnibus looks like it double dips on the Grant Morrison Batman omnibus, which is annoying as I already have them stories in the Batman by GM omni and it tells you to go read Final Crisis towards the end of that book. I really hate how they keep collecting these. I just wish we could get an in order compendium / omnibus series of everything with out missing out other authors stories, its so stupid.

Very cool video. Just discovered your channel. I would love to see an Invasion HC or omnibus. That was a fun event series with good tie-in issues. I didn't know about Armageddon 2001 not having a collection as yet. I actually had several of these annuals and thought the Superman annuals the best. If I'm not mistaken Bryan Hitch drew one of them. Yeah, the ending hacked me off like a lot of people as, at the time, I was reading, and quite enjoying Hawk and Dove.

If i may make a suggestion, maybe put timestamps in the description for every book or novel or omnibus and also put the book's details (name, print, number) in the video description. It would really help young collectors get the info they need about what you show us in your videos!

I want a collected bloodlines omnibus
Amazons Attack itself was written by Will Pfeifer BUT he wasn't writing Wonder Woman other than a single issue (#5). The main Wonder Woman title was being written by Jodi Picoult and both that run and the event are, in my opinion, some of the worst Wonder Woman stories ever written and the entire thing turned out to just be a tie-in to the already abysmal Countdown series.
Both were horrible series. WW at the time, before Gail and Amazons Attack.
@@NearMintCondition Which is such a shame because Greg Rucka's run leading up to Infinite Crisis is one of the all-time great WW runs. Then the powers that be decided that she "wasn't relatable enough" and needed to "reconnect with her humanity" (see 52 #47 for a rather insulting scene that shows this direction which, iirc, Rucka tried to fight against it before ultimately letting Morrison write the page at the behest of the editors) Ill-conceived premise aside, the start of the relaunched series wasn't too bad until Picoult took over at #6. And yet, even with how awful it is, the Wonder Woman collector in me kind of wants to do a custom bind of that dumpster fire in proper order with the uncollected issues included. :P

I just read Trinity War today and I see how people didnt like it. It was kinda cliche and generic, but it was a fun read and it's really short, so it's not such a big deal. And it leads into a great event, Forever Evil. Also, I think Trinity War was disliked because it was the epitome of New 52 tie-in event. That's why people hated NU52. I didnt, but most people did. The event made you buy multiple issues of random series like Constantine, The Phantasm, etc. Its not such a big deal, but it's not the ideal reading format... I think that's the biggest reason that NU52, especially Trinity War was hated.
I can understand the hate for some DC NU52. I wasn't a fan of Superman or what they did to my boy Constantine.

Kingdom Come isn't "almost like an Elseworlds tale." It is an Elseworlds tale. Its literally branded on the cover as Elseworlds.
When it originally came out they advertised it as this is THE true future of the DC universe. So much so that storylines from different characters started leading characters on that path. Like Superman Our Worlds at War and Wonder Woman: Paradise Lost.

Everyone talks so highly of Grant Morrison that I went and read Final Crisis... It was awful, there was a lot that happens "off screen" or that didn't make sense... I think he is just a mediocre writer who has tricked everyone into thinking he is complex. I'll stick with the 80's comic.
Final Crisis is notoriously confusing if you haven't read certain other comics beforehand. While his stuff tends to be on the cerebral side, none of it is as hard to "get" as Final Crisis. Basically, you chose the worst thing to read first. You'd be far better off with Animal Man or Doom Patrol. Both of them are extremely good imo and you don't need to know much of anything before going into them.
@@Goomyx1492 I did get the Doom Patrol Omni and I really liked it, the stories are so cleaver. I was really harsh with the guy on my post, but I wrote it while feeling so disappointed and angry by the time I wasted reading it. I'll check Animal Man later this year when the re print is out. Cheers.

The Final Crisis omnibus looks like it double dips on the Grant Morrison Batman omnibus, which is annoying as I already have them stories in the Batman by GM omni and it tells you to go read Final Crisis towards the end of that book. I really hate how they keep collecting these. I just wish we could get an in order compendium / omnibus series of everything with out missing out other authors stories, its so stupid.
It does some, but contains so much more.

After hearing the talk about Metal, we’ll need to know if you cave & grab the absolute’s now that they’re announced… i feel the strain of the same decision… wait hoping for an omnibus this year, or buy it (virtually guaranteeing an omnibus this year?) i already have the collected trades but want a fat omni so bad… but the absolutes & that oversized art on such a great story… triple dipping is a real potential problem here.. lol
