    I got my S10e almost exactly two years ago and am dreading the day it craps out on me. Extended software support is a godsend for sure. I'm casually shopping around for newer phones that still have flat screens and headphone jacks... There are only a few (A52 5G, Pixel 6), and most don't have specs any better than this.
    This phone has a few issues, and I'm noticing slowdowns as it approaches its third year, probably due to a lack of resets and the relatively low 6GB of RAM. It struggles with complex graphic tasks like video editing/renders, which I do a lot of. Not having a telephoto lens can be frustrating, too, since the digital zoom just can't hold a candle to optical. I had an S9 before this and oddly enough I really miss the infrared retinal scanner, since face ID on the S10e leaves a bit to be desired.... But the fingerprint sensor does its job perfectly well. Bixby button I find kind of annoying, like when I'm mounting the phone in my car.
    Those are pretty much my only problems with it, and they're nitpicks - every other possible aspect I'm neutral on or very pleased with. I've got a simple, slim Otter Box on it and it withstands drops like a champ. It also came shipped with a screen protector, and I don't know if that's normal but I still have the original one on there and the screen underneath is untouched. I love the flat screen and headphone jack, screen refresh rates, brightness, animations, battery life, form, charging options and speed, low light camera capability, pricing for the specs, upgradable storage, software (though I'm running Evie launcher), among countless other features. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for budget phones that still pull their weight.

    • @YourMajesty143
      @YourMajesty143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can change the Bixby button in the settings by having it require 2 presses to activate Bixby or to even have it set to pull up another app. I have it set to double-tap, instead of single-tap since I'd like to keep easy Bixby access as an option.

    • @ragewolf16

    Easily the best phone I ever had. I like the smaller screen and the fantastic photos it took. The problem I had was an issue with bluetooth and the USB C port would not let my phone charge unless I jammed it. If neither had problems I'd still be using it today and I would refuse the "free" upgrades. But I had to downgrade to a Motorola Edge because it was that or run the risk of having no phone at all.

      Similar story here with my S7 though I've resisted upgrading for all these years since my phone works fine and it in good condition apart from the back glass being cracked (I use a case so that doesn't matter). As for the battery life, it is not that great, but I don't use my phone all that much anyway, so I tend to keep it plugged in lots of the time.

      Out of curiosity, what do you mean by irrelevant?

    • @nothankyou4785
      @nothankyou4785 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Mae-Tai By "irrelevant"... I am pretty sure that the person (OP) means that "after a couple of years" the phones are no longer relevant compared to the newer phones that are made and introduced each year. In my opinion, it takes more than "a couple of years" for a phone to become "irrelevant". Phones truly do become irrelevant, after several years because they can no longer even function properly with Apps and other services, and they also become prone to all kinds of security issues and risks. That is all due to the fact that phone makers and service providers purposely end the needed security updates and operating system updates that are needed to keep the phone safe and able to function properly. They do this on purpose to force people/consumers to purchase new phones that are released each year. Its all about money, your money, and they want it. The galaxy s10e (and the whole s10 line) have been conformed to be getting security updates for the next 3 years. This phone (s10e) truly is a beautiful phone. It's smaller than the big ugly phones that take up too much room in your pocket and are a burden to carry, and there are so many other great features that this phone has. Use it as long as you can. I've been using my s10e, for 3 years and still looks Brand New like the day I purchased it, and I will be continuing to use it for as many more years as possible. Thanks for reading and God Bless.

    Got a question then cuz I have a s10e is there any news how long they're gonna still software support this phone for a Another couple years? Or should I upgrade to the s20/21FE although not super excited about them having no headphone jack.. I have Bluetooth headphones if I really need to but yeah.. just curious cuz the phone still works great (aside from some battery issues with the smaller battery life) and also if Samsung stops supporting it does that mean it's not usable anymore? I never understood that part of the software updates ? Cuz I know my dad for instance just updated from an iPhone 6 but he never played games or whatever

    • @salkryeful
      @salkryeful 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just quarterly security updates (no more android updates like to 13) that should at least continue on throughout 2023. After that, it's anyone's guess...I'm betting it will continue to get security updates for 2024 and possibly 2025 since the s8 still gets some security updates for this year.

    • @YourMajesty143
      @YourMajesty143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if updates stop, you can still use the phone. You just won't be running the latest software and typically that means after a few years, some apps won't be able to update or download bc some of them may require the latest software to work. For ex. I just switched to s10e from Samsung A3 (2016) and on my old A3, I was able to keep using it for 6 years but recently for the last 2 years I couldn't download a few apps that I wanted to use. So for me, I can see myself using the S10e until 2025 and then I'll probably upgrade to a Z Flip 3 or Z Flip 4. I save more money buying older models, bc thankfully Samsung keeps sending updates and most apps require software that's at least 3 years old.

    I have had my S10 plus that I remember paying about $450 for it back in July of 2020 and I still like it. I also use an S21 ultra, but I still keep it as a secondary phone. My S21 ultra got Android 12 Strawberry Shortcake, but the S10+ hasn’t yet even though I’ve heard that it will get it also. So sum up this video and answer you question, should you go out and buy an S10e, well the answer I would say yes, but don’t pay too much money, maybe try to go for less than $200, maybe up to $250 is still a good deal if it’s in excellent condition. Edited this comment to say that my S10 Plus did get Android 12 back in January. Was a little late from when my S21 ultra got it, but it finally got Android 12.
