    I wish they still made compact phones for later versions. The size of the s10e is perfect.

      here's ASUS Zenfone 8 now!!

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HKB108 yeah the Zenfone 8 is an interesting device, but in terms of size it's much closer to the regular S10 than it is to the S10e (it's 6 mm longer than the S10e and only 2 shorter than the S10), and it's 20 grams heavier, and this before you add a case... Still one of the most interesting phoens around, hopefully Asus will make a (possibly slightly smaller) successor by the time I upgrade my S10e in a couple of years... Especially as the zenfone 8 will only get Android 13, just one OS upgrade more than the S10e

      Two things they could do in the future to make this idea perfect: Remove the front facing camera entirely, and remove the Bixby button entirely.

    That's exactly what I did get through my carrier to replace a years old, much-used, serious screen burn-in Galaxy S7 Standard, a refurbished S10e in excellent like-new condition... Aside from the resolution and smaller actual screen size, the S10e takes up the same footprint as the S7 did, and I'm getting some better storage, memory, and a few new features as well! About one-half hour of receiving the handset, the Android 11 and One UI 3.1 had arrived, and I heard that Samsung has included the entire S10 Family to receive Android 12 and the One UI 4.0 later in 2021, so I'm good to go with all that! This is my new Daily Driver now, and I'll probably use it as much as I did the S7!

    I can say that this phone is the same size as the S6 Edge which I was upgrading from. People keep talking phone specs and everything, but this phone is still strong in mid 2021. In fact, I'm writing this comment on a 2 year old S10e. Had it since new and it hasn't showed its age yet

      Yep I've had it for a couple years as well awesome size and quality all around. Only issue for me is it probably needs a bit more ram, and if they could squeeze a bigger battery in that size phone would be perfect! Oh and camera quality in low natural areas could be better, but honestly can't complain.

    Hey! Awesome review. Definitely underrated channel.
    My question is, would you recommend the 128 or 256 GB version? I'm looking at a $70 price difference. My main concern is RAM. With 6 GB of RAM on the 128, will that be enough to power through a day in say two years? Obviously, the 8 GB model would be better, but is it $70 better? Thanks in advance for any info!!

    • @RealWorldReview
      @RealWorldReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      6GB is plenty for Android, but 8GB won't hurt (didn't even realize they made an 8GB version). 256GB would be nice, but you can get 512GB for $80, if not cheaper ( amzn.to/35kgX02 ).

    We puchased three S10E's for my family. After 18 months, one needed a new battery when the battery started to bloat, which caused the back to push out. A second one just stopped working after less than 2 years and even a new battery did not fix the problem. When we went to the local Verizon store where we purchased the phones, the tech rep stated the S10E is only meant to last 18-24 months--because it's not a "flagship" phone by Samsung, thus it's a cheaper phone, both money wise and how long it will last. They never said that when we purchased the phones, so I'm done purchasing in the store. Chatted with Samsung on line to order another phone and Fatima, the rep we worked, with was great and helped us upgrade the phone at a very reasonable cost. If I'd had known about how cheaply made the S10E's are, I would have paid more for a better phone...at least, that's our experience. Good luck!

  • @VelcroSnake93
    @VelcroSnake93 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Bixby button is great if you disable Bixby and use an app like bxActions that lets you remap it to other functions. For instance, depending on how I press the button, I have it work as my play/pause, flashlight or notification mode change button. (single press, long press or double press and hold)
    It's not the last compact flagship that has a headphone jack though, aside from others I may not know about, there is still the Sony Xperia 5 II and the upcoming Xperia 5 III. One of those are probably the route I will go once I finally replace my S10e. (using it for 2 years now)

      Im thinking of buying the s10e xD why do you wanna replace it?

    • @VelcroSnake93
      @VelcroSnake93 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lopwidth7343 Mostly a personal use thing. I had set up my phone to use the Bixby button as a Play/Pause for media, so I could hit Play/Pause even when the phone was in my pocket. Android 11 and OneUI 3.1 collectively broke that. I also didn't like some of the changes in Android 11 from Android 10, partially related to media playback again, but was unable to roll it back to Android 10.
      Basically, I loved the phone for almost 2 years and never thought about replacing it, it was perfect. Then software updates happened and over the next couple months I got frustrated enough to finally want to replace the phone.
      It's a fantastic phone, but in my specific case, the software updates no longer made made it enjoyable to use. I do miss the camera though, I don't think the camera hardware is better than my new Xperia 5 II, but the basic camera software and ease of taking pictures is FAR better (just the basic app, not talking about the Pro app on the X5 II).

    • @lopwidth7343
      @lopwidth7343 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VelcroSnake93 ahh, i know exactly what you mean. I really miss android 8.1 on a Motorola phone i had. Android 9 and 10 has weird choices, that was just better in android 6-8.1. I tried IPhone, and the same thing happened. I knew it was locked down and annoying, but i thought at least it will be consistent and minimal redundancy compared to how android and google works. WRONG, as soon as iOS 14 rolled out and forced you to update, it is just as janky and inconsistent as android to look at and interact. So it's just a locked down system, with only downsides and compromises now in comparison. At least samsung is consistent, from my experience. Especially their own software. Messages, gallery, music etc

      I have an exynos version, bought in 2020(eu) it depends on the brightniss you have youre screen on. With 30-40% i get after 1 year with dark mode apllyed 9-10hours screen on. Heavy user youtube and gaming and that will drain 100% if u use more brightness it will take 120-130% for that amount of screen time. I would say if you can buy the snapdragon version wich provides faster cpu and better battery, buy it you wouldnot regret. Exynos is also good but gets 35-40celcius eazy while playing games
