It definitely was. It showed that the under display fingerprint reader was cool but could not compare to a physical one in speed and practically. I also liked the flat display on the s10e as well.
Not if you're left handed like me :) I would've gone crazy with that sensor if I owned S10e. I loved the one below camera a lot of the phones used to have, that was the best one in my opinion. I still don't like the underscreen one on my S20+.
The S10e is still a great phone. In the cameras I actually liked a lot of the S10e pictures better. My wife uses the S10e and she said she's not giving it up until it dies. She hates the larger phones. She could probably live with the S22 size if she has to upgrade. Hopefully, going forward, Samsung listens and keeps a smaller phone in their lineup
Very detailed review from a channel of this size. The time and efforts taken were well appreciated. However one area that I was extremely looking forward to was night shots cause these days, even budget phones can take good stills at daylight and indoor lighting. The catch though is night still and video where it's dark. That's where you'll see a massive leap of the new s22 sensor. Do take this into consideration for your new smartphone comparison. P/S, I'm surprised too that in so many aspects, the s10e holds up to s22.
I appreciate the comment and fair point on missing the night photography. I'll be honest that I just didn't feel like I had time and wanted to get this video out relatively quickly after the S22's release. I'll definitely be sure to include low light photo/video in future videos!
Great comparison video! My beloved S10e is already gone at this point, but man watching this video reminded me of how much I enjoyed (and miss!) that phone. The S22 is a "good" small-ish substitute that is more future proof as you mentioned. However, I still wish that Samsung would create an updated version of the S10e. I'm serious.... Keep the design the same, put a 4,500 mah battery in there and make it a bit thicker to accommodate, and lastly, outfit it with the S22 Ultra cameras. Call it the S22 Pocket Pro or whatever.... I would buy that phone in 2 secs if ever created.
Totally agree, I wish they had kept the "e" line up going. An S22e would be amazing. I also agree that I wish we could have the Ultra's camera setup in a smaller body.
got the full range including the 1 TB 16 GB ram 🐏 👌 cermic plus a pair of Samsung galaxy S10 5G's witch 🧙♀️ I use no problems perfect no need to upgrade because I got a iPhone Pro max 12 gold 256GB from new it only lasted on full charge 3HR 47min on operation system 15 may have bugs 🐛 not sure but terrible so if y got something like S10 5G why bother when it upgrading to like i did and turned out to be a disappointing apple 🍎 12 Pro max issue problem.
Using an S10e right now (got one used, but with a new battery, after my S7; post S5). It's pretty much the biggest size phone I'm willing to take with me outside. I don't see the appeal of tablet sized phones that weigh more than bricks. It also has a micro-SD slot...
As someone who has the s10e I thought about upgrading to the s22 a bit with the biggest draw being the telephoto lens but I'm not willing to give up my headphone jack, micro sd card slot and side fingerprint reader and pay 900€ for a phone that has only slight improvements and massive drawbacks in other areas. Thanks for showing how negligible the performance difference is for the snapdragon variants.
Absolutely ridiculous they removed the micro sd card slot and only give you a 256gb option max. I have a s10 right now, with over 250+gb in it. I just can't find a worthy flagship with a micro sd slot....
@@fff-fv6xh yes I currently use about 200gb. It's crazy how little storage you have now. And I dislike using cloud storage because I don't want to pay monthly for something that was a one time investment and because it takes way more energy to save something on a server than locally ( I see how they care about the environment)
The S22 does have a chad fingerprint reader though, objectively better than the sidr scanner on the S10e. S22 uses the 3D Sonic Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which is one of the fastest scanners in the industry
I loved the S10e the moment I saw it in the mall. It is most definitely the most "essential" phone there has ever been in it's sense. It's been 3 years and I'm so disappointed that people still don't understand why the fingerprint scanner is placed on a higher position instead of putting it exactly where you could very easily reach it. They put it on a place higher than the finger's reach is so that when you pull it out of your pocket or you're simply picking it up from the table and hold it on the side, YOU DO NOT ACCIDENTALLY UNLOCK IT. It's up there so that when you unlock it, you have to purposefully do it instead of having a lot haphazard screen touching. It's a really good design language that it makes me sad that absolutely not one reviewer whether they liked the S10e or not, did not realize that.
As someone who spent months looking for a "perfectly balanced" phone , I was more than happy with the S10e , it was exactly what I've been looking for, for the 3.5 jack, for the big storage with a micro sd card and especially size-wise!!!! i'm no developer, but I can see that the S10e is a real beast and he'd top countless phones in many areas but the thing is , it's a beautiful Powerful phone with pretty much every feature any average user would be looking for and without having any major flaws, at all. I learned how to optimize the battery quite well . That said, I still think the S10e despite its small battery is the greatest "overall" phone ever!
When the S10e came out it was all I wanted! But I ended up getting the OnePlus 7T Pro instead later in the year. S10e still is a solid phone, and the size remains wonderful. Manufacturers really do need to bring power to smaller phone factors (iPhone 13 Mini probably a good one, but it's gonna be phased out soon).
people only compare screen sizes and forget the bezels. S10e has a 5.8in screen but with a quite some bezels including a chin. s22 has a 6.1inch screen and it has the smallest bezel in any S series phone of all time. so actual sizes of phones are pretty similar
I upgraded from my 3 year old 7T to S22 and absolutely loving this small form factor and its loaded to the brim feature wise. I wanted to keep using my 7T until 2023 but unfortunately I updated to Android 12 from 11 which is now basically colorOS and it has such huge bugs, it made my 7T cripple. I'll probably get a pixel ROM or something on it for the kicks lol. Please do not update yours to Android 12 !
I'm literally the same. Ended up getting the OP 7T Pro, that I have just recently switched to an iPhone 13 Pro. After my OnePlus has spoiled me with its high refresh rate screen, I just couldn't get anything with 60hz, but I felt the need for a bit smaller form factor. 6.1 inch seems to be just fine to use with my small/medium sized hands.
I have the Samsung S10e, and absolutely love it. It was so feature rich compared to iPhones at the time, while being pretty fast. Micro SD is great as a secondary storage mechanism for less accessed photos, videos, and audio files! The side finger print scanner is also the best way to easily do biometrics, and I've used both Apple's face ID as well as the under display finger print scanner on the Galaxy Tab S8 (far less accurate with a screen protector on). I am not an audiophile, but love the headphone jack because it makes me sure that my Bluetooth earbudss will not accidentally try to connect to my laptop or tablet when in an important meeting. They just work and leave me free to charge the device. However, with all of the downgrades to the device, I'm considering going back to the iPhone next year, assuming the Pixel 7 or other Androids with 3+ years of OS updates do not blow me away. If the S23 series is not a huge improvement, and brings back the micro SD card, what's the point of paying $700+ for a phone with worse overall performance, just because of USB C?
I have used more than 15 phones till now including all the bells and whistles flagships of Android and iOS. S10e is the first phone I have held for 3 years and might still continue to use it for an year or so. My major requirements from a phone are lag free software experience, great camera and upon that a compact form factor. S10e is hands down faring great on all fronts till now and specially after this video I realise S22 won't feel a very major upgrade from S10e. I will wait for the next iteration then. :)
Yep, S10e was also my first 3 year phone. Ever since I switched to Android (after the iPhone 5), I've actually gotten a new phone every year... so the fact that this one lasted me three years is a major win. We'll see how long I keep the S22. I'm interested to see the Pixel 6A when that comes out as I've heard it'll be smaller than the 6.
@@JohnScottB that's great. :) I had my hands on first two pixel phones. They are a charm but had their own share of niggles on hardware front. Over the years they have actually improved a lot but market share hasn't been growing to that extent lately. Deep down, we all want pixel devices to rule as there is nothing like that stock interface coupled with mind boggling cameras and great optimization.
I think you're making a mistake not going for the S22! I love both it's performance & size! And actually the battery is very good, although I've only had it about a week!
I'm not a heavy user, but I do have a screen on time of about 5 hours, at least in this first week because I'm checking out the features & how good it is!
S10e user here. I like these smaller phones, though the S22 is a little bit bigger, but luckily it's not that huge. 5G is also a great improvement from S22. And I prefer the placement and size of the S22 front camera. Also I prefer the S22 back camera placement, because sometimes I hide the camera with my finger at my S10e. I can see the video stability improvement from S22. Altough S10e is still a great phone in 2022 and S22 is twice as expensive, that's why I will stick with my S10e for at least 2 more years :)
Everytime I wanted to switch my S10e to a newer one, I always try to search for any comparison video to see if it worths to upgrade. Turns out my S10e is still a beast, although the battery is kinda crappy now and performance is not that fast anymore, getting slower and more laggy
@walkwithme the UI, sometimes you can't swipe up to go to the home screen, or scroll between multiple home screens, the camera sometimes take seconds to take a picture. I have my Bluetooth switched on since 2019 and now it isn't very stable when connecting to any bluetooth devices. Aside from that, s10e is still a great phone to use for at least 2 more years
I've been using a S10e since launch and I still haven't decided to which phone to switch after it dies. I like smaller phones and the S22's form factor pleased me a lot. In my opinion, the S10e's greatest weak points are the awful battery management while on standby and the camera that started to stutter in the last updates.
@@chupacabre99 i dont like the MiUI and when the Zenfone 8 was launched I saw no reason to switch from my s10e. Now that i'm thinking about switching it, the S22 might be a goog idea cause it's newer and wouldnt be a big chance in terms of user experience, since I'm using samsung phones since the S7
@@mightyravener9192 What are the negative experinces you had ? Their UI is highly customizable, you can have an app drawer, or not, and the theme app is pretty good.
Although my s10e is getting a bit laggy since the last update, I intend to keep it as long as the battery is still acceptable. Love the size and the cameras are solid even in low light.
It might help to set the animation speed to 0.25x. The phone seems very snappy then. Of course it'll be fastest with animation off but it won't look that great.
@@MsRafanatic I could do that but it wouldn't help. The animation speed is just fine, but on some occasions the whole phone starts lagging for a few seconds, usually right after I unlock it.
You can change your battery on your own or bring it to a service, it should be pretty cheap. Im using my S8 since 2017 and i have changed my battery once.
One of the most common feature that I've used is the "Swipe down for notification panel" so I don't have to use my thumb from the top of the screen to get the notification panel. I didn't really use the fingerprint sensor for what you did it for (notification) so its worth trying out for me.
Massive, massive thanks for this video! Really the one I've been looking for! Awesome job! I really appreciated the deep comparison between the two! My S10e is also prism green even though in the Exynos variant :( I think I would hold on to it for a little bit (I think I'll get the battery changed) coz I did hold the regular S22 and even though size-wise the difference wasn't that big to me it did matter. Plus using a cover won't help at all. But yeah overall the S22 is better...that display is sooooo gorgeous! Again, John thanks. This vid will be so helpful for all of the S10e users around the world.
Thank you - glad you found the video helpful! I agree that it does feel a little bigger than the S10e in the hand. I made the upgrade and don't regret it, but once I started doing this comparison video I realized how close they really still were, it was definitely surprising.
I've got the Prism Green S10e too. It's the best phone I've ever had. But part of me is thinking about trying an iPhone for the first time with an iPhone 13 mini, and keeping my S10e as a backup phone... I'm a little nervous about it, but I was thinking of trying something new. I've always wanted an iPhone, but my parents had a bad experience with trying to set up an iPod Touch I got for Christmas one year, so I was kinda lumped into the Android side by default. I feel like getting the iPhone would be proving to myself and my family that I am my own person and that I'm not letting those events of the past define who I am anymore. Plus the iPhone 13 mini is basically the same size as the first phone I ever got (Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus) , so it'll be like reliving the past as if the iPod incident never happened. ...Like a reset switch, in a way. And if the 13 mini isn't for me, I can return to my S10e knowing that at least I tried.🥺
@@neverendinchaos4800 I'm actually thinking doing the same thing.... Just because my S10E's battery is so terrible now it actually just last like half a day. I'll be getting the 13 mini for the form factor. I really have tiny tiny hands and it's the only compact phone out there 😔 I'm not a fan of iOS, I think One Ui is better in many aspects. I've tried the regular S22 and it's massive to me. Compacts phones are a dying breed so I think the mini is gonna be the last one.
My wife used to own an s10e (I'm currently using it), now she's got the S22. Side by side, the biggest difference is 120Hz refresh rate, and that's it. Cameras, usability, sound, everyday use scenarios - I prefer the s10e just because it fits in the hand better. And yes - being able to open the notifications bar with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor is a must-have feature I will be seeking in my next phone.
I've been using my S10e for the last 2 and a half years and I really still like everything about it. Not counting the battery life though... In this test I actually liked the S10e's cameras way more, especially in video. I hate the large phones and will use my S10e until it dies or Samsung brings another great small phone. I also agree, that the side mountet fingerprint sensor is a huuge feature that I don't want to miss.
As an S10e user I have to admit that I was really amazed by the physical fingerprint reader on the power button and how fast it could unlock the phone (especially considering that on my previous Huawei P8 lite it was not working), though some times it's not very reliable, especially when I have wet fingers. But I really find outrageous the fact that my sister's A71 will receive the OneUI 5.0 with Android 13 later in July, while S10 users (like me) won't, despite the S10 being a flagship (while the A71 is a midrange) and having a (theoretically) more capable SOC (Exynos 9820 vs Snapdragon 730). And the A71 went out just 3 months after the S10...
Can't let go of my S10e, S22 came in last week and after using it for a couple of hours I packed it back up, shipped it back and cancelled my trade in. The fingerprint sensor hit me like a bolt of lightning missing it instantly. I really did like the premium feel of the S22 but I can't say goodbye to my S10e yet even after 3 years it's been the best phone I've owned. Used to be a Nexus guy, Galaxy S8 then S10e. Awesome vid bro, liked and subscribed.
Totally get that. I certainly have considered doing the same but I'm giving the S22 a shot. It's still a great phone, just missing a couple important things. Maybe I'll do an update video after a month or two and we'll see if I still miss the S10e.
Exactly in the same boat man! Thankfully this video is the deciding factor to keep my s10e for at least another year. Hopefully the S23 or the flip 4/flip 5 sways me, but until then, the S10e is just too good of a small-ish phone.
I had S10e for a year and after 12 mini I immediately switched and am happier with it more than I was with Samsung. It is even smaller in hand, has a better battery, better camera.
🤣🤣🤣Yoooo!! I had the s10e for about two years... Went to the beach with it and in an inebriated state I dropped it in the water, I was like 😱😱so I went to the local AT&T store to see if they had any in stock and of course they didn't, so the sales person convinced me to get the s22 and have had it for bout two and a half weeks... Still not feeling it 🤣I'm lookin at the s10e's online and will be ordering one tonight and returning the s22!! I miss my s10e and everything about it, I don't really care about the battery life, I had gotten used to it 🔋🤣
The S10e was one of my all time favorite Samsung phones, I currently use an S22 and plan to buy a used S10e for fun. When it comes to camera on the S22, there are a few advantages over the S10e such as ExpertRAW and the 3x/30x zoom capabilities.
Just upgraded my S10e to LineageOS 19 (based on Android 12) and it's amazing: batterylife around 6h30 (screen-on-time) at 100%, battery health at 86% (estimated by AccuBattery Pro app, was 61% with stock Samsung android). I will keep my S10e: Lineage20 (android 13) will be official soon and community updates will keep coming for a long time more!
I bought S10e when it came out and it is staying with me for years to come because of it's size. I love the size and I would grab a new one as soon as they come in this size. Sadly, that probably won't happen any time soon :(
I was gonna upgrade to an s22 but I decided to go with a s21fe which I found for a good deal at Amazon for $650 and for the 256gb version and it's fantastic especially that battery life
A week ago, my mom's S10e just turned off in the middle of a call and never turned back on. The repair shop said that the motherboard died. I ended up buying her Zenfone 8 because I think that its design is similar to S10e (compact, plastic back panel, 3.5 mm jack and good processor).
@@JohnScottB I had the Zenfone 8 for a few months now, I bought it because of the compact design. I have to say, the screen is really good, 120hz is very smooth and 1080p is more than enough for a compact display. Perfomance wise, the 888 works just fine, for a daily use is perfect no lag whatsoever, at least for now, but you can also play almost any game in high settings and still enjoy them in such small screen. Cameras are fine, 2 cameras are good enough, can't tell for the selfie camera because I never took a selfie. Only drawback is the battery, I don't know if it's my unit or not, but is just not good, 4 hours and is almost dead, even with 60hz and 90hz, and also no wireless charging, but the 30w wire charging are very good, 30 minutes for almost 70-75%
I feel like you and Juan bagnell would have a great conversation. I had a regular S10 some years ago and definitely miss the headphone jack. I decided to go big with the s22 ultra but I'm sure I'll go smaller in year. Good review.
I am using a refurbished s10e right now as I bought it last summer. At that time I had just broken my old pixel screen and needed to buy a new phone, but was not impressed by the phones on the market. The s10e price tag was $200, so I decided to use it at least for a year or two. I am genuinely impressed by the quality of s10e. Samsung does have bloatware but mostly is for the better. I like Samsung dex a lot. The side fingerprints sensor is just a superior design compared to under-screen fingerprint readers. Headphone jacks and SD card slots are such useful features. I definitely feel that battery is a downside. The battery of my S10e now is unable to keep up for a day of heavy use. Charging spots are everywhere, so not a big deal per se, but definitely a bit of hassle. I don't think I would change my s10e for a good long time unless I find a flagship-level phone that has a side fingerprint reader, a desktop environment, a SD card slot, and a relatively small screen. The Motorola edge 2022 would do if its price is not as ridiculous.
Thank you for this review!! I love my S10e. as you mentioned, no extra storage card(w 8K recording), no headphone jack. I'll wait till other models match this ideal size w advanced hardware.
I've had the Samsung S10e since launch and I'm still happy with it, the only downside is the weaker battery. I'm waiting to see what the S23 will show and if there will finally be a reason to upgrade. The reader on the side is absolutely great, I shoot a lot in clubs and for a "profile video" the recording is great!
same situation with me. Now is23 i showed up and it's seems pretty good. It's more probably that i will sticth to s23 cause battery of my lovely s10e is very poor now.
I've had the S4, S5, S7 Edge, S8, Note 9 (didn't own it), S10+, S20 Ultra, and now S22 Ultra, so I have a "history" of experience with Galaxy devices from the S-series. also, I'm a tech geek with experience in both mobile devices, PC hardware/software and networking, and I'm working with programming as a full-stack developer the lack of the SD slot in the S22-series shouldn't really matter, as the cheapest models got 128GB of internal storage, and it's by far not expesive to get some cloud storage, either rented or private hosting at home. I'm hosting my very own 2TB cloud, which over time will be the cheaper option as far as the server PC isn't a powerhouse, and with Nextcloud, I'm able to create multiple users, so my family can have their users as well without paying for it the fingerprint reader slide up/down feature was a good one on S8, Note 8, S9, Note 9, and S10e, so I totally agree about that! some people didn't really make use of it, but people who did will miss it there's a lot of headsets made with USB-C instead of AUX now, which is good because it supports better audio quality (24-bit up from 16-bit). also, good bluetooth headsets exists, not only true wireless buds, but actual around-ear and on-ear headsets performance for flagship devices is like comparing tires for a car, you can't notice a whole lot, but there's minor differences which geeks might notice easily with their knowledge. some "wanna be tech expert" people might prefer specs on paper over real life experience. I'm glad you show better knowledge than those people 5G depends pretty much on country as well, because here in Norway, the only way I'll notice any difference between 4G+ and 5G, is while downloading large files/apps or run a speedtest. Norway got some of the worlds best cellular data, easily over 150 Mbit/s download with 4G+ and often over 600 Mbit/s with 5G. I've tested up to about 850 Mbit/s download and about 100 Mbit/s upload with 5G WiFi 6 and 6E on a device is more a gimmic to me, the important upgrade is the router itself, because the router is the device that actually have the upgraded features, like a way better handling for multiple devices compared to any previous router tech. WiFi 6 routers are primarily a big upgrade for homes with IoT devices, like Smart Home systems yet another Android version, then a year of security updates, that's a good enough reason to wait for a year or 2, then upgrade to S23 or S24. 1 or 2 years better tech, maybe a better battery tech as well, 5G and WiFi 6 will get better support globally, 256GB internal storage can hopefully be the cheapest option, and so on. I would say that, anyone who still got the S10e might just wait that time to safe a few bucks and get a device with more storage, not the cheapest one about the battery capacity and S22's display refresh rate, this isn't my strongest knowledge as I've upgraded to the latest and greatest phone regulary, as you can see at the start of my comment, but the 120Hz dynamic refresh rate display is insane, and it does work better with it on compared to static 60Hz, tbh, so I bet it's one of the best features for saving power, while also making the display feel way more responsive. I can not, and will not go back to a 60Hz phone again, ever, as far as Samsung offers something better every time I'll upgrade my phone while it comes to the camera, the quality haven't been upgraded a lot, at least for the non-Ultra S22. I personally think the OIS has been too stable for normal video, but for zoom, it's good at locking in at something, which is good. the mic for video recording was noticably better at the S22 with it's improved noice cancellation. I know it's not realistic for everyone, but S22 got it's zoom lens, which I think you should compare to S10e's zoom capability. zoom is nice to have in a few situations, but it doesn't have to be like my S22 Ultra, which has 10x optical, 30x hybrid, and 100x digital zoom. 30x looks good, but anything over looks like shit, at least when getting over 50x zoom, but it's usable to read text at a very long distance. anyway, camera comparison videos can be quite long, so only major features should be included in an overall video like this one
I just upgraded from an S10+ to the smaller screen of the S22! I'm loving it because I have small hands & I'm not worried about battery life, mainly because I am retired! I still have my S10+ & have always loved it but I new the updates were ending this year!
That is exactly what I did, but I miss my 10 plus, gave it to someone with an A50. I miss the jack and the speakers especially, these are trash in comparison.
Thank you for the in-depth review! I still recall how shocked I was by the similarity between my S9+ and S21+ when I first got the latter. I think in most cases it is the production of the review videos that have been advanced by TH-cam influencers that give the mirage that new phones are vastly superior. The display and the cameras have definitely improved over the years, but everything else feels familiar or are entirely absent. I think I will hold on to my S9+ as a second phone for several more years before retiring it. It is worth much more than its current trading value.
I'm a big fan of the MKBHD channel for this reason. I feel like he's very transparent about the iterative nature of smart phone development. Each year is mostly the same with a small tweak here or there. But over time it should add up. Plus most manufacturers go through two generations without a new design, so that's natural.
I think the tech review culture breeds the mindset that everything should be new. This is how manufacturers get people to buy phones each year. Comparison videos highlight differences, no matter how small they are. Makes you think "well the new one's still better". This makes me think that the complaints about the iPhone being too iterative is just reviewers being too new tech-hungry. New features should come out only when they're refined enough, which is exactly what Apple has been doing.
at first i thought it be wise to just upgrade to s22/s23, but after i replaced my old battery with new one, i think i will hold to this phone for another 2 years
I have an s10e and held out on the s21 due to its uncomfortable size for me, the more compact feel and look of the s22 made it my dream phone. I can’t wait for mine to arrive!
@@JohnScottB it just arrived today, I love everything about it but, opening apps it’s the same if not slower then the s10e, being about twice as slow opening Spotify, I really hope Samsung fixes this.
Guys, I'm sending my S22+ back after having it for a week. The size is alright but it gets extremely HOT! And the battery is trash. I still have my S10e and I am going to use it until they stop updates or it dies. It's the best phone I've ever owned. I regret getting the S22+. Maybe you'll have better luck...
I was waiting for the S22 FE to replace my s10e. But they cancelled it.. because of your video I decided to keep my s10e for another year. Let's hope they come with something better next year!
Bless you for finally putting this content for those who are coming from the s10e, although I already placed my order for my s22! Now that you mention the side fingerprint reader, I definitely will miss it, especially when paired with the samsung password feature which is almost second nature for me when i tend to forget some passwords for apps and other accounts. I so wanted to hold off for one more year, but given my s10e is already having some issues and the fear that next years model might revert back to a bigger size flagship, I pulled the trigger on buying the s22. I will definitely look back on this s10e as one if not the greatest flagship I've used. Great review man!
One advantage of the in display reader is it's easier to input when the device is sitting on a table! That's rare for me but I noticed I've been doing that more now, I don't have to pick up the device to do my thumb print for apps that accept that for login.
Same. My S10e is showing its age (3-hour battery life, screen burn-in for the keyboard, black bars and the notification shade and sometimes, vertical lines flashing in the middle of the screen) and even though the fingerprint sensor, the headphone jack and the Micro SD card slot was convenient, I can trade these in (and use dongles for my headphones, earphones and for my Micro SD card) to still use a truly small phone (under 6 inches with bezelless screens, under 5.2 inches with big bezels). Yes, the iPhone 13 mini seems to be my last smartphone upgrade. If the 13 mini starts producing the same kind of issues when it gets old as my S10e and there will be no phones in the 5" range, then I'll go back to the Nokia brick phones. Not joking. A smartphone was always the extension of the brick phone concept with a touch screen, internet connectivity and 3rd-party app support for me. As such, I always kept using small phones; the same kind of small as my Nokias before my first smartphone, the Sony Xperia L.
this is the exact video that i need!, i use s10e for almost 3yrs now but still doubting about jumping to the s22. considering losing the headphone jack, expandable storage and still getting a bigger phone in return (i cant even handle the s10e properly its couple times slipping from my hand). i'm thinking about keeping the phone for another year or changing to iphone 13 mini
Thank you for the video. Hopefully your channel will grow in the future :D. The side fingerprint reader is really good! I currently have a Galaxy a7 2018 and I will miss this feature on my next phone which is gonna be the Galaxy S22. Hope Samsung brings it back.
I've been looking for this! S10e is so underrated! Thanks for informative video. I'm currently holding onto my S10e for the next Samsung Flip 4! Please do a video for this 🙏🏿 🙌🏿
I loved my S10e, its just the battery that made me let go of it. I'm a bit of an occasional power user and 4hrs SOT just doesn't do it for me. RN for small phone enthusiasts you just have no other choice than the 13 mini.
Sad but true. What a missed opportunity by Android phone makers. Choice is great, except when you have to choose between a top tier phone that's huge or a small phone that's neutered
probably the best side-by-side phone comparison video I've ever seen. Easily the most unbiased comparison - usually there is a subtle push towards the newer phone, which was not the case this time. Keep the videos coming!!!
Never thought someone might be in the same scenario as me! Will really miss the side fingerprint reader and jack, but it's time to retire the lil beast. Small phones ftw!
Yeah I feel the same! S10e will go down as one of my favorite phones of all time for sure! But the S22 is a nice consolation prize with some modern amenities :)
What a nice comparison, definitely the best between these 2 phones. As others, I love the S10e so much that I decided to wait another year. I love everything, especially the fingerprint reader. Only downside is battery (I have the exynos) but I am not doing a battery swap, since Samsung won't do it and local shops would compromise water resistance. I'am just charging it a bit more often... Would love to see a video on Android 12 on the S10e. I am hesitant to update since I have heard comments about battery life draining faster.
@@_Digitalguy hi, as someone who updates regularly i can tell you that battery pretty much went downhill with Android 11 aka february last year, saw no changes with Android 12 tho, im also on Exynos S10e, best thing you can do is buy that Xiaomi 10Ah powerbank (bought it in local store for like 35$) with 18W output and carry it with you if you arent seeing a power outlet for more than 8-9 hours. Rip mate :')
@@gavra-1337 Thanks, I have already quite a few powerbanks of different sizes. I have not updated yet to Android 12 but this is good to know, I think I will do soon. My S10e developed an issue since, it won't fast charge anymore. It will only work with standard 5v charging and won't even charge if I plug in a fast charger...
I'm still using my S10e, every time i think about upgrade and look up new phones I just don't see any good alternatives. It's just sad that every year they make phones more expensive with less features.
I know! The s22 has no micro SD, no headphone jack, and a 3700mah (are you kidding me 🤦♀️) battery! Then add a comparison like this and it makes absolutely zero sense to pay so much for a new flagship. The only phone that has caught my eye in years is the s20fe. Wish it were smaller tho
This review doesn't really do the cameras on the newer S22 justice when compared to the S10e. I upgraded from an S10e to an S21 (now have an S22 on the way) and there was a pretty decent difference in quality between the S21 and S10e due to the larger main camera sensor. With the S22 having a larger sensor than the S21, I'm assuming this difference will be even bigger. In bright lighting during the day most cameras will look good, which is why the results were so similar in your comparison. However, the S10e falls apart during and after sunset. Basic sunset photos between my old S10e and S21 were pretty different, with the S21 able to pull in more light from shadows without overexposing the sun/sky. Night time shots with the S21 were also quite a bit better than on my old S10e, and in the right conditions I was able to capture beautiful photos of the milky way. My S10e couldn't ever do this. HDR performance has been improved on newer samsung phones too which you can see in your comparison. Finally the zoom lens makes the camera array so much more versatile on the S21/22. Moon photography is possible with 30x zoom and zoom lock, and picture quality up to around 10x is really amazing. The S10e by comparison digitally crops up to 10x from its main sensor, which is fine up to 2x, but anything further looks noticeably hazy. Other differences include a much better portrait mode on the S21/22, plus better photo and video stabilization. I agree with a lot of your points you made in other areas of your comparison between these two devices but you undersold the camera upgrades on the S22 quite a bit. For users who care about smartphone photography the difference between the S10e and S22 is really big.
That's a totally fair criticism of this review and something that a couple other people had mentioned. I'm not sure why I didn't add in night photography and particularly night video. I'm planning a followup S22 video and will include that for sure. Thanks for the comment!
That video is so on point!! Was thinking about upgrading my S10e, since finally there’s a compact alternative, but nah looks like I’m not in a hurry at all. Had some battery issues, got a new one in and it works perfectly again. Also my fingerprint reader didn’t always work, but since you mentioned that it works better than the one in the s22, I set it up new and it’s super snappy now. Also still really digging AND using the headphone jack, no idea, why they are gone on all new models. So thanks for reminding me, that it’s still one of the best out there. Question remains which one to get, when it dies at some point haha
As someone who loves iPhone I gotta say the S10e is an amazing device! I would really love to have more flagship Android phones with 5.8 inches or less. Anything else is too big for me. I know I'm a minority but I just don't like big phones and Apple is the only one with the Mini series that has a flagship under 5.8 inch. Edit: I also own a Pixel 4a (not 5G), decided to give Android a go some time ago and it wasn't bad at all but after a while it got slow since the 4a isn't a flagship and now I decided to go back to the 13 Mini.
I've still got my S10e, and I've got my eyes on trying out the iPhone 13 mini. I'm kinda torn though between the SE 3 and the 13 mini.😅 I just don't know if I can get used to Face ID.
@@Fabudan But what if someone grabs my phone from me? All they have to do is get the Face ID sensor to see my face and then they've got access to my phone.🥺
Just upgraded from S10e to S22. I already miss the fingerprint reader and SD card. I also hate big phones. They say they don't make small phones because no one buys them, but it is hard to buy what doesn't exist. Maybe they'll learn something from the car companies that stopped making small pickups for the same reason. Then Ford released a small pickup last year, and it sold out in record time.
Thank you for this great video. I'm one of those users who are still hesitating to do the switch. The biometric power boutton feature not being available on the S22 is very disapointing. When it's dark and face reconization doesn't work picking it up to unlock instantly with power is so much faster than print sensor on the screen. I don't understand why they gave up that feature, it probably won't come back in the future model either :-(. Can you do a battery test video, where both phones and compared side by side at 50% luminosity and intense video playing to see how much longer the s22 battery last ?
I was considering upgrading my S10e, but I came here. So glad I did! I'm keeping my phone; it's paid off and still in excellent condition. Thank you for sharing.
An excellent review, thank you. A headphone jack, a MicroSD slot, and on the smaller end (not slim, small) are all must-haves for me - things you just don't see in smart phones these days... a physical keyboard and removable battery would be nice, but sadly no more BlackBerry! I guess the S10e remains my best, and probably only, option. IMO: The move from wired headphones to Bluetooth is a great example of people falling for marketing intended only to squeeze more money out of them - well done Apple, grrr! The messing about with pairing and charging wireless headphones is at least as bad as tangled wires, the latter only a problem if you can't be bothered to take care. Bluetooth headsets are far more expensive, don't last, and if earphones have only one job - to provide decent sound - Bluetooth fails utterly unless you spring to some serious money. In short people are fools! Sorry, rant over.
Honestly, no wired earphones ive ever owned have lived as long as Bluetooth ones, i always have the cable break in under 2 years, sometimes even faster.
Thank you for this great video comparing the two models. It makes me feel really good about buying an s10e second hand but in mint condition in late 2022 as the differences between the two models don't seem to be so great.
This seems like such a genuine impression. Not just a hype video for some random new phone. I've gotten really bored of the videos comparing phones that are just one generation apart and exclaiming what huge improvements there have been. When in reality even after 3 years barely anything changed.
Well, in fairness everything is iterative. Small changes eventually lead to big things over time. But obviously the difference between these two devices doesn't seem like 3 years of R&D worth it.
i think its also important to take the camera capability in Night Photography into perspective , thats where the camera performance may differ more . Otherwise nice review
I love both of these phones. I would like the next generation(S23) to be even a little smaller, like 6" even would be great. I find the s10e is easier to use with one hand than the s22. I don't really think the s22 is a compact phone. I think 6"-6.4" is medium, under 6" is compact, and 6.5" or larger is a large phone. The Pixel 4a (yes I have one) also is a compact phone that feels perfect in the hand. If Samsung could just shrink it a little more for next year, and put the same size battery in it, that would be the perfect phone for me. EXCEPT - like you said, the speakers are disappointing. They sound similar to the Pixel 5a, which is a $450 phone. Well the S22 is an $800 phone. The speakers are more important than most people realize. A flagship phone for that price should have great speakers, not just 'good'. It's not economically responsible to buy a new phone every year, but if the S23 hit these bars next year, I would probably give it up and buy it. I do like my S22 very much, I'm just not totally in love with it. I'll just date her for a year or so probably.
S10e is the most brilliant and perfect phone which I ever had! Perfect size, perfect materials it made from, so I don't want to change with a new one! 🇧🇬
That's why I didn't change my regular S10 yet. I don't need 120 hz and 5G for now so I skipped the S22+. The S10 still works like brand new even now (2022). Its performance is still amazing, smooth and fast. I'd wait for the S24 or S25 Ultra someday but hopefully they bring back the 3.5mm jack and micro SD card slot when that time comes.
That's great. You'll probably want to look for a new phone next year though once security updates stop rolling out to the S10 lineup. Hopefully the S23 has something you like!
I'm rocking an LG G8 which has a similar small form factor and see no reason to upgrade to anything out right now...the phone still runs like a champ. The headphone jack is a must for me
I love my S10e. The swipe feature on the finger print reader was one i didn`t know i needed. I am honestly kind of concerned if there will even be a comparable new phone in a few years when i upgrade to a new phone. The size of this device is simply perfection. It`s not `mini`, it`s not big, it`s compact. It feels small, but when you use the screen it feels completely natural, like you`re not missing out on any screen real estate. The headphone jack and micro sd card slot are features i can`t live without, as over the last few years i switched from bluetooth to wired audio more and more, but still use my phone as a source 99% of the time. I will keep this thing for as long as i can. If i break it, i`ll buy a new one. (this thing is dirt cheap on the used market i got mine for 160€) If the battery, the usb port, or the headphone jack wear out, i`ll have the phone serviced, even if it costs me more than what the phone is worth. I constantly buy new tech, but for some reason, i tend to stick with my phone for a long time, but the S10e is nothing like the LG G7 fit i had before. It´s still a flagship for me. It`s snappy, well built, the display and speakers are excellent. The only difference i notice when trying out new phones at the store is the screen refresh rate. If i could wish for a dream phone, it would be the size of the S10e, but foldable, without the hickups associated with foldables and with a really good headphone jack and better battery life. If a manufacturer were to create such a beast, i`d buy it asap. until then i´ll stick with the 10e. If i`m forced to get a newer device in a few years, i`ll guess i just go with whatever still has a decent jack and expandable storage (probably Sony)
If, big IF, Samsung were listening and reading these reviews they would bring back SD cards, jacks and the side fingerprint sensor. But hey, they are the big dog right, they think they know best... not!
I loved my S10e and had it for 2yrs but one of my downsides about the S10e was the battery life and lack of brightness. I was going to upgrade to the s22 ultra but I got the iPhone 13 pro max instead bc of the battery life and the tad bit better video quality. I did give my mom my s10e bc it was a bigger upgrade from her newer galaxy a02s. And throughout the 2yrs of having the s10e I never knew about the scroll thing with the finger print sensor. Also some photos on my s10e look way better than my iPhones photos. Insane how a 3 yr old phone holds up to todays flagships.
I think the iPhone takes slightly better photos than my S22. My wife has the iPhone 13 and if we need to take a family photo while out I usually grab her phone instead. But I don't think I'll ever go back to the iOS ecosystem. I don't understand how they don't have an app drawer here in 2022. Insane.
This is an excellent comparison video.(I found the background music distracting) I'm doing exactly what you guessed... looking at the S22 and not much else due to size. I'll wait til the S23 is out for a bit to see if the S22 comes down in price. Also, I don't know if Samsung might put out an S23 model with similar size. I appreciate the effort you put into this.
I got my son an S10e and myself the S10+ and after comparing them both I preferred the smaller S10e for everyday use. Upgraded the family to S22 this year and I’m a lot happier with the smaller 6.1 screen. The S10+ was definitely nice, but a little unwieldy at times
I’d wait for the S23 because it will have many important upgrades like about 35% better battery life than the s22 and from my experience with the s22 that is definitely needed
To bring down notifications easier, look into Good Lock and specifically One Handed Operation+ on the Samsung store. I drag down from the edge of the screen to bring down the notifications shade on my S21 Ultra.
Good content, definitely worthy of my like. One objection though: In your footage, the video stabiliser in S22 seems to do much better job. S10e is choppy in some parts while S22 is buttery smooth. May be quite important for videographers.
btw, the video stabilization after the April patch update, got much better, in my opinion, it has more lag in the "super steady" mode, which makes it easier to make smooth video shifts
I just go the April update last night, I'll have to check it out. I've been experiencing some weird camera stuff on the S22 ever since the March update.
I had the S10e and just upgraded to the S22. I'm really enjoying the phone so far. I can see how smooth it is when I scroll. Also, the camera is much better!
The quality of this video is top notch and actually covered a lot of the important stuff. Underrated brother you deserve more subs, so have another one cheers!
Favorite feature was the s10e fingerprint sensor.
100% agreed - that's the thing I miss most!
totally agree!
It definitely was. It showed that the under display fingerprint reader was cool but could not compare to a physical one in speed and practically. I also liked the flat display on the s10e as well.
@@claudiusboasman3681 I sold mine for an s20fe, It was a big mistake cause that phone was way faster and better in every way
Not if you're left handed like me :) I would've gone crazy with that sensor if I owned S10e.
I have the s10e too, and after 2 and half years is still good and fast, but the battery is is dying, i have to charge it twice a day
I had this phone and it was a nightmare in terms of battery life (S10e) however is a good looking phone and good cameras
@@kurt7228 that's what im living bro, switching to iphon 13 pro soon
Mine is buggy
I also hate large phones but the speaker sucked on the S10e.
Aye this is very true
Factzzzzz. Pleease reboot the mini phones. I don't wanna give my S10e up.
got the full range including the 1 TB 16 GB ram 🐏 👌 cermic plus a pair of Samsung galaxy S10 5G's witch 🧙♀️ I use no problems perfect no need to upgrade because I got a iPhone Pro max 12 gold 256GB from new it only lasted on full charge 3HR 47min on operation system 15 may have bugs 🐛 not sure but terrible so if y got something like S10 5G why bother when it upgrading to like i did and turned out to be a disappointing apple 🍎 12 Pro max issue problem.
Using an S10e right now (got one used, but with a new battery, after my S7; post S5).
It's pretty much the biggest size phone I'm willing to take with me outside. I don't see the appeal of tablet sized phones that weigh more than bricks.
It also has a micro-SD slot...
S22 Ulrra cameras, 4500 mAh battery, 5.8 inch screen.....
The phone is going to be well over 10mm thick with those specs
@@Xevos701 it may have that but it definitely cannot pull the notification panel down. Hehe
@@grembley killer feature fr
You need to take the release date into count, a phone can only be the greatest for so long
Optimization details please
When the S10e came out it was all I wanted! But I ended up getting the OnePlus 7T Pro instead later in the year. S10e still is a solid phone, and the size remains wonderful. Manufacturers really do need to bring power to smaller phone factors (iPhone 13 Mini probably a good one, but it's gonna be phased out soon).
You have the zenfone 9 now ;)
people only compare screen sizes and forget the bezels.
I think you'll like the new Asus Zenfone 9. It's almost like an upgraded version of the S10e.
hows the battery?
@@waynegroleau3946 i appreciate the fact. What is the average SOT you have been getting in a week ?
I hate big phones
but the S22 are small, the operation hand + let you use it with one hand

Everytime I wanted to switch my S10e to a newer one, I always try to search for any comparison video to see if it worths to upgrade. Turns out my S10e is still a beast, although the battery is kinda crappy now and performance is not that fast anymore, getting slower and more laggy
@walkwithme the UI, sometimes you can't swipe up to go to the home screen, or scroll between multiple home screens, the camera sometimes take seconds to take a picture. I have my Bluetooth switched on since 2019 and now it isn't very stable when connecting to any bluetooth devices. Aside from that, s10e is still a great phone to use for at least 2 more years
Replacing battery at Samsung service fixed the lag for me. You can also disable performance throttling in battery settings
@@AbstraktJazz which setting is that? I only have adaptive battery saving and high performance toggle

You can test if turning off adaptive battery helps, it may also throttle you down.
Factory reset or costum rom to fix the lag. This is still a very capable device
I've been using a S10e since launch and I still haven't decided to which phone to switch after it dies. I like smaller phones and the S22's form factor pleased me a lot. In my opinion, the S10e's greatest weak points are the awful battery management while on standby and the camera that started to stutter in the last updates.

Yes the lost update definitely was making it worse. Especially when I'm using the Samsung dex.
@Carl Gunderson thanks, without animations it works fast (exynos version)
You can change your battery on your own or bring it to a service, it should be pretty cheap.
Im using my S8 since 2017 and i have changed my battery once.
One of the most common feature that I've used is the "Swipe down for notification panel" so I don't have to use my thumb from the top of the screen to get the notification panel. I didn't really use the fingerprint sensor for what you did it for (notification) so its worth trying out for me.
Great vid, still rocking my s10e. Did some research after release and knew the s10e was the phone for me.
As a 6'3 guy that love small phones too for the same reasons. This was a perfect video! Thank you for making it
Massive, massive thanks for this video!
And yes - being able to open the notifications bar with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor is a must-have feature I will be seeking in my next phone.
i rarely comment stuff on TH-cam but this video is so well made that i was surprised you only have 682 subscribers. u definitely deserve more
I appreciate the comment, although your username threw me off at first :)
@@JohnScottB LOL... '''you talkin' to me?... you talkin' to me?!?'' 😆
I just bought an S10e in September 2024 because, to my knowledge, it’s the last really good non-5G Samsung.
I have the same phone,I still love it. To bad, that they are not making phones with batteries anymore. Just have a new battery...and good to go :)(
As an S10e user I have to admit that I was really amazed by the physical fingerprint reader on the power button and how fast it could unlock the phone (especially considering that on my previous Huawei P8 lite it was not working), though some times it's not very reliable, especially when I have wet fingers.
That's interesting - I know Samsung at some point switch to have the 5 years of support. I guess the S10e was just born at the wrong time.
I miss my s10e and everything about it, I don't really care about the battery life, I had gotten used to it 🔋🤣
The S22 didn't really make me wanna upgrade from my S10e. However, the Asus Zenfone 9 got me excited, mainly because of the battery life.
The S10e was one of my all time favorite Samsung phones, I currently use an S22 and plan to buy a used S10e for fun. When it comes to camera on the S22, there are a few advantages over the S10e such as ExpertRAW and the 3x/30x zoom capabilities.
I personally prefer the larger folding phones but it's interesting to see how things have both progressed and regressed in the smaller phone market
Sadly, that probably won't happen any time soon :(
It will....perfect sized phones wich can handle by a single hand.
Btw....we need a phone or TV screen?
I know. Phones today with the best specs are almost 7 inches. That is crazy.
300 subs only? You deserve much more subs for such quality of your videos. You have my sub.
Thanks so much for the comment and sub!
I was gonna upgrade to an s22 but I decided to go with a s21fe which I found for a good deal at Amazon for $650 and for the 256gb version and it's fantastic especially that battery life
Such a big phone though, that S21FE!
Good choice
Nope Fool s Edition is a waste
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN good for you for a having an opinion
I got my s22 for only 299 from Google fi with no trade in
A week ago, my mom's S10e just turned off in the middle of a call and never turned back on. The repair shop said that the motherboard died. I ended up buying her Zenfone 8 because I think that its design is similar to S10e (compact, plastic back panel, 3.5 mm jack and good processor).
Nice, what are your impressions of the Zenfone if you'd had your hands on it yet?
These are the comparisons that matter. Subscribed!
Thank you for this review!! I love my S10e. as you mentioned, no extra storage card(w 8K recording), no headphone jack. I'll wait till other models match this ideal size w advanced hardware.
This!!!
Rrrright...We... Shall... Wait.
I hope the S23 has 256 GB as minimum.
same situation with me. Now is23 i showed up and it's seems pretty good. It's more probably that i will sticth to s23 cause battery of my lovely s10e is very poor now.
@@Nikolay.Rozhko Replacing the original battery with us costs 50 euros. But I understand.
I've had the S4, S5, S7 Edge, S8, Note 9 (didn't own it), S10+, S20 Ultra, and now S22 Ultra, so I have a "history" of experience with Galaxy devices from the S-series. also, I'm a tech geek with experience in both mobile devices, PC hardware/software and networking, and I'm working with programming as a full-stack developer
the lack of the SD slot in the S22-series shouldn't really matter, as the cheapest models got 128GB of internal storage, and it's by far not expesive to get some cloud storage, either rented or private hosting at home. I'm hosting my very own 2TB cloud, which over time will be the cheaper option as far as the server PC isn't a powerhouse, and with Nextcloud, I'm able to create multiple users, so my family can have their users as well without paying for it
the fingerprint reader slide up/down feature was a good one on S8, Note 8, S9, Note 9, and S10e, so I totally agree about that! some people didn't really make use of it, but people who did will miss it
there's a lot of headsets made with USB-C instead of AUX now, which is good because it supports better audio quality (24-bit up from 16-bit). also, good bluetooth headsets exists, not only true wireless buds, but actual around-ear and on-ear headsets
performance for flagship devices is like comparing tires for a car, you can't notice a whole lot, but there's minor differences which geeks might notice easily with their knowledge. some "wanna be tech expert" people might prefer specs on paper over real life experience. I'm glad you show better knowledge than those people
5G depends pretty much on country as well, because here in Norway, the only way I'll notice any difference between 4G+ and 5G, is while downloading large files/apps or run a speedtest. Norway got some of the worlds best cellular data, easily over 150 Mbit/s download with 4G+ and often over 600 Mbit/s with 5G. I've tested up to about 850 Mbit/s download and about 100 Mbit/s upload with 5G
WiFi 6 and 6E on a device is more a gimmic to me, the important upgrade is the router itself, because the router is the device that actually have the upgraded features, like a way better handling for multiple devices compared to any previous router tech. WiFi 6 routers are primarily a big upgrade for homes with IoT devices, like Smart Home systems
yet another Android version, then a year of security updates, that's a good enough reason to wait for a year or 2, then upgrade to S23 or S24. 1 or 2 years better tech, maybe a better battery tech as well, 5G and WiFi 6 will get better support globally, 256GB internal storage can hopefully be the cheapest option, and so on. I would say that, anyone who still got the S10e might just wait that time to safe a few bucks and get a device with more storage, not the cheapest one
about the battery capacity and S22's display refresh rate, this isn't my strongest knowledge as I've upgraded to the latest and greatest phone regulary, as you can see at the start of my comment, but the 120Hz dynamic refresh rate display is insane, and it does work better with it on compared to static 60Hz, tbh, so I bet it's one of the best features for saving power, while also making the display feel way more responsive. I can not, and will not go back to a 60Hz phone again, ever, as far as Samsung offers something better every time I'll upgrade my phone
while it comes to the camera, the quality haven't been upgraded a lot, at least for the non-Ultra S22.
I know I wrote a lot, but hey, I'm a developer with knowledge in a lot of tech related stuff, so I had a lot of stuff to say! :D
I can't Express how much I needed to watch this video
I still love my S10. Great device that's still fully supported, and light and comfortable in the hand.
It's a great device to be sure!
at first i thought it be wise to just upgrade to s22/s23, but after i replaced my old battery with new one, i think i will hold to this phone for another 2 years
I have an s10e and held out on the s21 due to its uncomfortable size for me, the more compact feel and look of the s22 made it my dream phone. I can’t wait for mine to arrive!
You'll have to check back here with your findings once you receive it. I'm curious how other S10e users find the S22 experience.
@@JohnScottB it just arrived today, I love everything about it but, opening apps it’s the same if not slower then the s10e, being about twice as slow opening Spotify, I really hope Samsung fixes this.
Update: after doing a system update and rebooting a few times its super fast, love the phone!
@@ArcherBronzi but have you been OK with the larger size? Have you gotten over the loss of the side fingerprint reader?
What kind of issues were you having?
I thought i was watching a video with 10k subscribers! You deserve alot of subscribers!
I appreciate the support!
I currently have two S10e's and I might get an IPhone 13 Mini if it means that those will be the last ones.
Yes, THAT'S how much I love small phones😭
I switched to the 13 mini and I love it
Sell me 1 s10e
🥺👉👈
It is a dark time in history for small phone fans
this is the exact video that i need!, i use s10e for almost 3yrs now but still doubting about jumping to the s22. considering losing the headphone jack, expandable storage and still getting a bigger phone in return (i cant even handle the s10e properly its couple times slipping from my hand). i'm thinking about keeping the phone for another year or changing to iphone 13 mini
This is what I've been thinking about too. I feel like the flat edges of the 13 mini would make it easier to hold in my hands.
Thank you for the video. Hopefully your channel will grow in the future :D.
The side fingerprint reader is really good! I currently have a Galaxy a7 2018 and I will miss this feature on my next phone which is gonna be the Galaxy S22. Hope Samsung brings it back.
Thanks John, Love your content!
Great video. I have an s10e and S21 ultra. The s10e is brilliant apart from rubbish battery life.
Yup, moved from S10e to iPhone 13 mini only because of the size. It's going to be a tonight choice in 3 years.
probably the best side-by-side phone comparison video I've ever seen. Easily the most unbiased comparison - usually there is a subtle push towards the newer phone, which was not the case this time. Keep the videos coming!!!
Very kind comment, thank you!
Thank you for the comment. Hopefully the S23 is similarly small!
@@JohnScottB If it isn't I might still get the S22 next year, which will be cheaper by then
@@_Digitalguy hi, as someone who updates regularly i can tell you that battery pretty much went downhill with Android 11 aka february last year, saw no changes with Android 12 tho, im also on Exynos S10e, best thing you can do is buy that Xiaomi 10Ah powerbank (bought it in local store for like 35$) with 18W output and carry it with you if you arent seeing a power outlet for more than 8-9 hours.
Also very few small phones.
Rrrright.. More expensive and physically enormous. No thanks.
S10e with it's 5.8" screen and all it's features is still perfect for me!
Good call out but most don't take shots at night. Usually it's daytime where all of us want to grab a good picture.
@@MatthewMoscotto Then the S10e should be fine.
The companies removed headphone jaxk on purpose as they want people to buy their Bluetooth ear phones
do you go to official samsung stall to change out the batteries?
@@lipingwong6675 nope, just at a regular smartphone shop around the corner
@@neverendinchaos4800 since face id works with masks now you’ll get used to it, also, the battery life, camera and the screen is better on the 13 mini
@@Fabudan But what if someone grabs my phone from me? All they have to do is get the Face ID sensor to see my face and then they've got access to my phone.🥺
Sad thing is that Apple is also ditching the Mini and will go for Max models. So there's no iPhone 14 Mini because 12 and 13 Mini didn't sell well.
@@neverendinchaos4800 it won't unlock if your eyes are closed or you don't look at the phone.
Awesome video
I am currently still using my s10 normal size and loving it
My S10e is still serving me well, as I already replaced the battery myself. Not upgrading until Samsung comes out with something innovative 😊
The Pixel 4a
(yes I have one) also is a compact phone that feels perfect in the hand.
Man this was a good simple video , awesome job.
I like the Galaxy s10e fingerprint
Z flip 3 keeps the side mounted finger print sensor alive. And I love it
Explained in details
excellent angle! I had an s10e (128GB) ... replaced it with an s22 and recently bought an s10e (256 GB)... no noticeable differences. Great video
@@JohnScottB Hopefully yeah. I did live with my S5 for 5 years though and I never had any problems.
I'm glad you made this video with passion. Kudos. So underrated
(this thing is dirt cheap on the used market i got mine for 160€)
If the battery, the usb port, or the headphone jack wear out, i`ll have the phone serviced, even if it costs me more than what the phone is worth.
Yeah they hit the nail on the head with the S10e - it's too bad it didn't sell that well so they decided the "e" line was one and done.
If, big IF, Samsung were listening and reading these reviews they would bring back SD cards, jacks and the side fingerprint sensor. But hey, they are the big dog right, they think they know best... not!
I totally agree! S10e was my choice back then and now, Xiaomi 12.. is such a great little thing!!! Similar size, better in almost every way!
Xiaomi 12 is not the same size.
I appreciate the effort you put into this.
s10e was one of the best phones I have ever used in my whole life. Absolutely loved it.
I got my son an S10e and myself the S10+ and after comparing them both I preferred the smaller S10e for everyday use. Upgraded the family to S22 this year and I’m a lot happier with the smaller 6.1 screen. The S10+ was definitely nice, but a little unwieldy at times
Perfect video just what i was looking for, im upgrading from my 3years old s10e to s22 at the moment
This video is made to the standard of somebody with at least 100k subs, good job!
Wow, I really appreciate that!
I'm still using my Galaxy S10e and For a 3 yr. old flagship,It still holds up!
💯
Would you recommend getting a refurbished s10e? For someone who likes smaller phones and doesn't have the budget for a new release?
Man, thank you for this comparison, just what i needed.
Glad I could help!
Your channel is so underrated
The quality of this video is top notch and actually covered a lot of the important stuff. Underrated brother you deserve more subs, so have another one cheers!
Thanks so much for the sub!
Favorite thing is how you did a perfect video...thank you
