The Sorento is not, nor has ever been, a compact SUV. That would be the Sportage. The Sorento is a midsize, competing with the Toyota Highlander, and Honda Pilot. So unless the Highlander and Pilot are also compact SUVs, the Sorento is a midsize.
I traded in my 2010 Highlander SE V6 to this 2011 Kia Sorento and I love it. Interior is a little smaller but I love this SUV. Handling is a lot better than the Electronic Power Steering of the Highlander. I used to under estimate Hyundai/Kia products but not anymore. I'm thinking to trade in my Camry with 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid next but I'm still comparing it to the new 2012 Camry Hybrid. But overall, I'm so happy with my Kia Sorento.
I call the Sorento a midsize CUV... it's about as large as any other midsize SUV (even larger than my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee) and has third-row seating.
I wouldn't mind an older body on frame Sorento, I have no need to cart around 7 passengers anyway. But the re-design is breathtaking, I can always fold the rear seat down! LOL
hahaha you got me there, cant really argue that! its still a 20k car Base, did you at least get the v6? and btw, how many times have you used the hill descent controll? it seems like an odd feature in a crossover
Kia should offer the V6 across model lines - Base, LX and EX, instead of just the EX. Some want the power of the V6, but don't need all the luxo features the EX brings. They could charge a $1750+ premium for the V6 without an issue.
nah 2.4! i love the car..... never expected something like this from KIA...but its beautiful! ;) actually, when i am coming out of a parking lot that is pretty steep and the cars in front of me are stopped, the car doesnt go front or back when im releasing the brake pedal. its a nice feature.... BUT again, i do dislike the other KIA cars...especially the small ones.
agreed there, extra power isnt really that cars purpose. although i am a car guy and will always want more more more and then more power... its a disease... nice car, for a korean start up
well, for the most part you dont use a lot of power. but for some, thare are "track days" where you go to a racetrak, pay whatever it is to get in, and go around the track all day. some even have driving instructors. but even on the street, its fun to do burnouts or... ok, i am starting to look irresponsible and reckless. lets just leave it at, i use my power off road, i drive a ford svt raptor, and there are no speed limits out there
2.4! who gets the little engine (well i did but the big one wasnt out yet) if theres a choice? kia is getting big quickly, you might have a collectors item! Berrett Jackson, 2040, " And now on the block, 2011 Kia Sorento, first good car Kia ever made. Starting bid is $130,000..."
because he has to be cheerful so people will buy the car? i own one...2011 Red Sorento....and its actually a nice car!!! i dont like the other kia's tho!
well.. i did?! :D i am not going offroading or live on the mountains to get a v6 all wheel drive suv. 2.4 is enough :D its the best car they made...so far ;)
I am still not convinced that anyone buys Hyundais or Kias because they WANT to. They have come a long way, but people always buy them because they are cheaper than the competition. However, you'll always find a better choice in the class.
unsafe on the road, on a bike the best (and safest) fix is offroad. a whole new kind of crazy! the problem is people just dont look for bikes. nuts go buy cars with horrible visiblity and WHAM! "oh sorry, didnt see you there.." and bikes get a bad rap for safety. fact is, what elso does a 10 second 1/4 miles, gets 50mpg, and costs less than $15k?
what are you gonna do with all the "power"???? yes, there are cars that can reach up to 200mph+ but WHERE THE HELL are you going to drive it that fast??? its pretty funny! :D

why is this guy so damn cheerful?hes reviewing a kia crossover!

@notshylo the LX has the v6 as an option too
