Bought a used kx-2 auto version of the sorento 2 years ago. Only 1 small problem with a door lock otherwise it's an excellent car. Leaves most cars at the lights after a lovely engine remap ;)
There are rear AC vents, they are located in the B pillars. and if you get the 7 seat version more vents are located on the sills next to the back windows. Cheers!
Normally, Mat makes valid criticisms. But I think complaining about hard dashes is a bit unfair. And also, I think it's unfair to attack the car because the badge is not so much of a status symbol. (In his language, 'desirable.')
the 2009-present 2011-present (North America) Kia Sorento/ Kia Sorento R (South Korea) is assembled in Hwasung, South Korea West Point, Georgia, USA Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan
Only people who don't know much about cars will say negative things about this car. I get take it to college and I get ragged on by my friend who has zero knowledge of cars. He drives a Jetta. I have the V6 which churns 280HP . I Does his Jetta have 7 seats? No. 280 HP? No. At least a V6? No Off-Road capability? No. Impressive acceleration? No. Good amount of torque? No. I'm not kidding when I tell you this, but this thing can GO. Wheel-spin in first gear in an SUV means POWER. Solid product
I Like the now old Generation Kia Serento but i do like the new one too. They should have the Brand New designed model as well as the Old Model in Production For example Type A : New Model Type B : Old Model Style . I recon i would like to choose which one Type A ( MY15 ) or Type B : (MY10-14) models Out of Type A or B i slightly prefer the Type B because it has angular style where the new one reminds me of a bloated Santa Fe with different styling but it still is a very nice design .
@mx5hong No, I'm not from US, I'm from Slovenia, EU. I thought people in US ''abandoned'' large SUV in last few years, because of the consumption and ecology and stuff. But looks like that's not the case? So just as an example, if you took 20 cars on a regular parking lot in front of a mall, how many of those would be large SUV like you mentioned, ford explorer and so on?
@mx5hong Thats interesting, totally diffrent story here in EU. Ford Excursion would be considered as a big-foot size, you wouldn't be able to park it anywhere or even drive on the road in the urban areas, it's that big. But good news they canceled it, since it's really a waste of space and consumption is too big. Completly other way around here. Out of 20 cars here, 1 would be Sorento size, and around 10 would be Ford Fiesta size, since thats one of the smalles cars you have in US, like we do.
@mx5hong Are you serisous?? I saw a Sorento in person just few days ago and it's huuuge. A big block of metal. I can't imagine driving this thing. So what's considered as a large SUV in US?
Why a manual gearbox in 2014 ? Do you have the 3.3 L V6 mated to a 6-gear selector in Europe ? Because that powertrain is just amazingly smooth and powerful. And very efficient with a 8.8 l/100.
I'll take a US spec Sorento SX with the 276 HP V6 and AWD instead, that gets rid of all the hard plastics and adds some quality leather. And here in the US it's very cheap compared to rivals, and lets not forget that 10 year/100,000 mile warantee!!!
Who can help me decide between the Sportage and the sorento (must be a diesel with automatic transmission) (2010 to 2012 models). ALld advice is welcome!
That's the baseline! The SX version it's way better! Has Panoramic Sunroof, Leather Seats, and all other stuff that makes it great and also cheap to buy compared to other companies.
Why aren't diesels available in the States???? Why does Europe get all the cool economical options.. KIA needs to import their diesel products to the US. Especially the SOUL..
@mx5hong To tell you the truth, Ford Grand or normal C-Max is even here considered as a medium sized van, it's hardly any bigger then Focus. On the other hand, Ford has great car S-Max which would be more suited for US, I don't know why they don't offer it in US. But the Routan is right one for US, it's too big for EU. Same thing with Chrysler Voyager which is considered as a minivan in US, here it's way too big, you can see one per year if your lucky.
This car just accidently landed in Europe and it's also accidently sell here. It has typical american design and size. And it's not really that interesting here among EU people.
why the hell do you guys ( i mean the driver and the camera crew) have to use the same road over and over again (please send me a funny reply )!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@846524162 I take it you're not living in the U.S. There's a whole slew of them here in the U.S. from GM, Ford and Chrysler such as the Chevy Suburban, Ford Expedition, Dodge Durango, too many to list. Import makes such as Toyota and Honda have large SUV designed and manufactured in the U.S. such has the Honda Pilot, Nissan Armada and the Toyota Sequoia.

Because "scratchy plastics" in the cabin are how you tell if the engine was made with plain bushes or needle races...duh...

Is the Sorento permanent 4-wheel drive or AWD (all-wheel drive) i.e. 2 wheel drive with selectable 4 wheel drive ?
I watch carbuyer's videos even tho I don't like the car at all :P
The review is just so good that it's worth watching.

This guy needs to join Top Gear
All models get air conditioning ? I wonder which car comes with a fan nowadays
air conditioning is still an extra on lots of cars air conditioning does not mean fan it means it can blow chilled refridgerated air
It's interesting that the Sorento is considered a large SUV in Europe while it's considered a compact or mid-sized here in the U.S.
Tiny roads, tiny parking spaces. Embarassing
Ok let's be real. Why would I put 🍌 there 😅🤣
the front resembles the Lexus RX 350
You will know if Matt likes the car..... that is if he drives it away with him in the end of the review.
I'd rather have the Sportage over this. Its much better looking.
No no no he has to do a review on the golf r! :)
No rear AC vents?
Because its a 5 seater. If you get the 7 seater you will have an ac vent on the side panels.
That's the baseline! The SX version it's way better! Has Panoramic Sunroof, Leather Seats, and all other stuff that makes it great and also cheap to buy compared to other companies.
Why don't you ever show the dashboard? One of the most important part as an occupant.
Please do a review on the NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE !
Why aren't diesels available in the States???? Why does Europe get all the cool economical options.. KIA needs to import their diesel products to the US. Especially the SOUL..
