Before you warp to a mission, if you are flying solo, you should form a fleet with yourself. There's a trick with acceleration gates in faction warfare. Many people have difficulties where if they warp to the gates at zero, when they attempt to use them, they start to bounce off the physical object. We don't want this to happen and then have a neut drop in and get point on us. By forming a fleet, we can now use the various warp at range features without exposing the beacon first by initiating warp, stopping and then warping to it at range. If you warp to a gate at 10km, you still technically land at zero and can use the acceleration gate immediately, however, you land off of the physical object by a decent amount, and thus won't bounce around trying to enter.
Great guide! I've been hesitating to go into FW missions, but your video clarified most of the things I was worried about, and I'll be giving them a shot soon.
Sounds great Ian, thank you for the share. If you have any issues or questions feel free to ping me in EVE under the name Subsparx and I'll be happy to help out.
This is the guide i was looking for, so clear and easy to follow, i have to give you my thanks for the work you put in. Looking forward to dive in FW world.
This is a fantastic video. I've been playing EVE off and on since 2009 and never gave much attention to FW. Looks like I finally have a use for a Stealth Bomber other than being terrible in PVP.
I didn't really need this tut but I sure can appreciate a clear, concise and well read tutorial. a lot of tutorials either bore the hell out of me or the narrator is trying to explain the topic while playing and that gets him distracted. Good Job. P.S. Farmatar? oh please, wasn't it caldari farmers who went to minmatar space to farm there because you ran out of space to farm? :)
Haha, that's what I've heard them referred to as on numerous occasions, and from chatting with Minmatar players that run missions it sounds like they are pretty ridiculously easy to run. This is solely from a missioning standpoint. As for systems themselves, yeah, we have run plexes in systems over on the Min side before. In fact, Min is running them in Caldari space right now.
Great vid, you really helped me out! How come you only have 9k views? should have been at least 100k. Keep up the good work mate. Ps. I might come and visit ya, always nice to make new space friends !
Great guide, buddy. I tried out the missions for Caldari militia with your Manticore fit last weekend and it works perfectly made a lot of LP :) However intel about FW missions seams to be hard to come by. Some info can be found on eve-survival.org, but there are still some gaps there. Do you by any chance can point me to additional sources? Cheers, Erik
thanks so much, brilliant video.. i wonder if you can help me with a question.. i am doing missions for minmatar, i noticed in your video you explained that you can buy some items way cheaper than they sell at in the normal LP shop, you mentioned it applied to the navy raven i think.. do you know of any minmatar items that sell cheaper?
Great video, but I kinda hate when they make it look so easy lol. I'm fairly new and I grabbed a level 3 mission for Amarr and not only the system is filled with pirates chasing after me, but my torpedoes are not killing the industrials quickly enough and I've had to warp out twice already... I should probably come back when I have better missile skills... :|
Late response, but it depends on luck. I've only had to avoid 1 mission (15 run so far). I have l3s in my missile skills, covops 2. It's been going fine. You might be using the wrong type of missile, I'm running with Caldari in a Nemesis (thermal missiles) so my damage has been pretty good. I can normally get a single industrial in 8-9 volleys, so I can normally take out 2 Industrials/reload. Meta launchers, t1 ammo.
JPFreeski I am actually planning on releasing several more videos. The next are going to be a Faction Warfare 101 and an Overview Tutorial, not sure which will be first yet.
Thats awesome. I look forward to this! And I am hoping you can maybe do a video detailing T1 pvp fits for all frigates if thats not too much to ask :) Happy holidays!
ok so i have been using the low sp fit and ive had some trouble with it. ive already lost 2 bombers doing lvl 3 missions. i dont think sig tanking is very viable but maybe its just something im doing wrong. has anyone else struggled with the low sp fit?
subsparx do you mind make a video about gallente missions? for what I see there is no way to do it in a SB because of the missiles and ECM... so what to do?
It's possible to do in a Stealth Bomber but it's not easy. I've talked to a few that have done it. I've been a bit lazy about updating the guide over on the Faction Warfare site with fits for all the sides. I'll get on that this weekend so it has some more information to work with. However, I do know that a lot of people on the Gallente side fit up higher end ships to run the missions, like Tengu's for example. There has been a group of 3 of them hanging out in my home system lately blitzing missions at incredible speed. It's a bit more skill intensive but it might be something to look in to. Grabbing missions in bulk with a group can net you even more money if you are able to blitz them fast, as the missions locations become more dense as you stack them.
Thank you for the fantastic video! I am fairly new to EVE and started to wonder if this could also be done relatively safely by fitting a Navy Vexor or Myrmidon with sentry drones + anything that increases range. Wouldn't be such a glass cannon (also, I don't have bomber skills). Couldn't a standard cloaking device then be used to make it safer to travel between mission sites? Or alternatively, fit a navy vexor with modules that make it more agile so the time-to-warp is shorter. What do you think?
The likelihood of getting caught on the way there is very high. Interceptor pilots can and will knock you out of cloak in either of those ships before you enter warp using the mwd warp trick. As for getting to the actual mission, the chances of somebody landing on your mission gate before you is also very high.
Thank you for replying so soon. What do you think would be the minimum skills required to pull these missions of in a Bomber? I have trained frigates to V and can fly covert ops with cloaks, but am missing at least the Bomber skill, as well as the relevant torpedo / missile launcher skills. Any ideas on how high should those be trained to?
At the very least, the missile support skills should be 4 and the Torpedo skill at 4. Anything below that is possible, but it gets increasingly difficult. Range is hugely effected by the skills you have trained. Ideally you want to be running T2 Torpedos though, but that's a long train.
Sami Paju There is no separate skill for Stealth Bombers, it is the same Cov Ops skill as the scanning ships. The bomb skill is to use bomb launchers, it is not required to fly the ships.
I've just started FW and i was wondering, how long do you get to complete a mission cos i'd stacked 5 missions, logged in the day after and they'd all failed. I know you get a bonus if you finish before3 hrs eg...
I can't remember off the top of my head, but it tells you when you pick the mission up. The bonus is pretty useless, as it's a small ISK bonus and no LP, which is where the real income is. I believe you get less than 24 hours to finish them though. Generally you don't want to go grab a batch of missions unless you have time to go run them.
Just curious. Did you had an alt for boosting purposes? I saw you were prompted to split isk when trying to return the completed mission.... If so what would you use and what sort of boosts?
John Belcher +LaIslaGrande I would not use an alt for boosting while running missions. It's not necessary and significantly slows you down. I'm not sure why it prompted to split isk at the end. I may have been grabbing missions with a group of alts or it might have simply been because I was in a one man fleet in order to get the ability to warp at 10 to gates that aren't popped on the overview yet. Not sure if the latter results in a prompt to split.
This seems to miss one MAJOR point. Gallente mission targets are weak against Thermal and not so much against Scourge. You're supposed to use the opposing factions bomber. So Caldari missions should be run in a Nemesis and Gallente Missions should be run in a Manticore, etc.
I was always told that Gallente NPC's were tanked both Thermal and Kinetic, so it didn't particularly matter. Same went for Caldari NPC's, being both Thermal and Kinetic. Perhaps the information I have is a bit simplified but I was always taught to do the same damage back as you take for the most effectiveness. Multiple guides online say to do Kinetic damage to Gallente as well, including EVE University.
Hmm, it's possible that the gallente and caldari npcs are closer than amarr/minmattar, but I do know that Gallente are weakest against Thermal and Caldari Weakest against Scourge. Also, for Amarr missions those fits would be horrid lol We do Hounds with AB, MSE, and Explosive Ward which is also nicely in tune with the fact a bomber should very rarely ever NOT have an MSE.
Yeah, I haven't posted up fits for Amarr and Minmatar yet, I've been slacking, but the MSE fits do make things a bit easier. For the Caldari side though the MSE fits require a lot more sp due to the damps. Either that or you have to fly really close. Do you have an Amarr fit you can post? I'm planning on updating the guide article on the website asap.
do i need to be caldari to fight on caldari side? i want to start WF with new minmatar character, but i guess than going to jita would be impossible, so...can i be minmatar and join to caldari? plus how much sp do i need, or what ships do you suggest for tier 1 - 5
Leverquin Your characters actual lineage doesn't matter, you can join any militia regardless of character background. As for the SP, you don't need a lot in order to start running them. To be really efficient you want to have T2 Torpedos though and you'll be looking at a couple months to get to that point. The tiers don't effect the ship you fly. The missions themselves are identical regardless of current tier and you can fly the same bomber to complete them.
well i have one main character who lives in wh, but i don't want to destroy standing with other rases. and have one miner. so i was thinking to start with new WF, but dunno nothing. what to choice what side to take.
ah yes one more question: tier means that some race going better than other? i mean they all start at tier 1 then improve to 2 3 4 5? right? and missions are the same just more money you got?
Leverquin Tier doesn't mean a race is doing better than another. In order to maintain tier people have to donate LP to systems in order to increase their points as a side. When those systems get plexed by the enemy, half the LP earned comes from the systems buffer, thus it's a constant amount of LP required to maintain tier. Higher tier also lowers the market value of items. If Caldari is T4, a Navy Drake is going to be significantly cheaper than it would be at T1 for example, because at T1 you earn 50% of normal LP payouts (which is still way higher than PVE) but at T4 you earn 250% LP payouts. When that happens the market floods with stock and the prices are driven down. Ideally, if you are only looking to farm and not actually PVP, you want to farm LP while the tier is high, and possibly hop between sides like Amarr/Caldari and Gallente/Minmatar, and just stockpile. Then you wait until it's T1 and cash out then as the value of everything is much higher.
So I tried doing this with 3x sebos but I get damped so hard I have to get in within 30km. Will this get me killed? A corpmate of mine suggested to use a MSE instead, I tried that out and instantly got welped even with high transversal???
Your targeting range will shift as you move around the battlefield, as the level you are damped out is going to be effected by the falloff of the damping ships. The MSE and 2 sebo method is a common one to give some room for error during the fight so you can warp out without getting popped and is certainly a valid option, but requires you get closer to the targets. The main thing to be paying attention to is the frigates, those are going to hit you with the highest frequency. It takes a bit of time to get used to running the missions, what to watch out for and how to avoid it, which I unfortunately couldn't cover in full without making this a VERY long video. One thing you can try, if you are willing to invest in pirate implants, is getting a set of Halo's. Those lower your signature radius making you harder to hit. The faction AB also gives you a higher speed bonus, though I wouldn't recommend that until you get at least fairly proficient with running the missions without it. If you are getting damped down to 30km you might want to look at your targeting skills, it sounds like you might have a few skills that could be increased a bit to increase your lock range. The last thing to verify is to make sure you are using lock range scripts in your Sebo's. I've had people forget about that in the past.
I made like 6 bil from trading before I found out about this I wish I knew about FW missions sooner, because this is definitely more isk/hour than I owuld usually make and with less risk
cheaper actually lol according to eve cenrtal a purifier is less than 20m while a hound is well... just 15m ill retract my statement that says "not safe"
+Alan Shroue The method of how to run the missions doesn't change, just the ship. all T3 cruisers are viable and there are a multitude of ways to fit them. It's very unlikely I will remake this video for them.
It would probably work, but might not be the best idea. It's not good enough at moving around sneakily (bomber may have 6-8s align, but also has covops cloak) and slower warp, so the bomber is better.
when did this change occur? And is this a hard restriction or do you think special SB fits could still run these (such as by maybe kiting the webers)? Would running missions for certain factions make running in a SBer more viable than the other factions?

cheaper actually lol according to eve cenrtal a purifier is less than 20m while a hound is well... just 15m ill retract my statement that says "not safe"
30m is about the price of a fit and insured one with t2 mods
best video by far +1
What ships did you use for lvl 1-3 missions?
I skip level 1 and 2's and get standing via plexing. Level 3's can be run in a bomber just like level 4's, unless that has recently changed.
Late response, but yeah. I did the same, l3s in a bomber.
lol...really great and pro
great vid
Its gallente. Not glontay
Is the fit still relevant?
the npc's still do damping and manticore targeting range is still the same so i suppose it's safe to assume the fit is still relevant
How much lp/h can you make now?
+Hulla Dek This doesn't work any more with bombers, you have to use something else, commonly T3 cruisers.
+subsparx so how much lp/h with t3 cruiser?
+subsparx Any chance of an updated video with the T3?
+Alan Shroue The method of how to run the missions doesn't change, just the ship. all T3 cruisers are viable and there are a multitude of ways to fit them. It's very unlikely I will remake this video for them.

Sryy I didn't reply to this sooner since I have forgotten about fw and started doing trading...is t2 launchers mandatory btw ?
i got scram by npc frigate how can i avoid that?
+omokunghub That was a recent addition. You can't run these with bombers anymore.
Nooooooooooooooooooooo
when did this change occur? And is this a hard restriction or do you think special SB fits could still run these (such as by maybe kiting the webers)? Would running missions for certain factions make running in a SBer more viable than the other factions?
gistii isnt faction, its deadspace
T2 rigs are dirt cheap, not sure why you have T1 in your fits.
Outstanding! thank you for this excellent FW Missions Guide. Cheers from... a Hound Pilot =] o7
