    One of the best Eve vids I have seen in years! As newbro nullsec training corp I would like to add OUCH -Open University of Celestial Hardship O7

    good to see a fellow Aussie making Eve vids. great vid. well set out with cuts and content. I am back after near nine years or something away and just went omega again. im bit of a rp carebear but only get an hr in before work at 0400 a couple times a week so can't do much in game. Will look to this for setting up a fit for a bit of PvP one day. id like to see a vid on playing support in a fleet and perhaps how a support set up can defeat a offensive fit if a all possible. (you may already have vid of this sort Up. I just found ya)
    Might see you out there.

      Hmm I don't really have any vids flying support. But this vid is a really great look at PVP as logi (th-cam.com/video/5y5qmfivFv8/w-d-xo.html).
      But definitely in small gangs etc. logi/ewar support can be super powerful and is really easy to get into SP wise as well which is nice :) At least ewar anyway, logi is a bit more skill intensive.

      Played great pvp in Quake/RT/Neocron, but playing Eve pvp I was hopeless, because Eve is not about reflexes, but about deep Intel on your target. By the time you attack the outcome is known :)

    How do you catch people in a blaster fit?
    - 5/6 of my last fights, my opponent was out of 15km by the time I locked them, and I could not get within 15km with my overheated AB. Then for the rest of the fight I did nothing to them (even with Null S).
    - A few times it said they were 13-14km while I was chasing them, and I was spamming my overheated webs but they never turned on? Whats the deal with that?
    I just keep getting kited in my blaster Atron. My skills are pretty good, my fit is good (mostly T2 fit) But I cant do anything against any kind of kiter.

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's really hard to say what it could be without knowing all the details, but there's a few general tips I can give you. With catching kiters you can try to 'slingshot' them, which is basically just burning away from the kiter so he has to follow you, and then turning into him and using his momentum against him to get close and hopefully land your tackle. It sounds like you weren't quite able to get close enough to whatever you were fighting. Sometimes your UI can tell you you're at 13km range, but in reality your say 13 300m from the target so you web still can't land.
      You can also maybe look to improve the speed of your fit, although Atron is normally quite quick if fit in the standard way. Other than that just try to maybe pick your fights, not everything can be killed by blaster atron. Tristans will be a pain etc. Hope this helps! :)

    • @Megaspaceycasey
      @Megaspaceycasey 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I tried the burn thing to get within 13km. An overheated web should be 15km? I'm going to try to use hotkeys to be faster. I haven't fought a Tristan yet. I have gotten some key tips, like pre-approaching and using hotkeys. I've also improved my Atron fit a bit, getting out there again soon. Hopefully next time I'll fare better.

    I have a question, I'm fairly new to this game and was wondering, if you are solo flying, why would you use a navy frigate when you could just use a cruser for half the ISK cost? it doesn't make since to me. I understand that they are slower but wouldn't the larger capacitor, more fitting options and increased shield/armor/structure out weigh the con(s)?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chance Day the thing is if you fly a cruiser, you're just mostly going to get fights with other cruisers. Everything more or less just scales up/down, but the lager stuff needs more skills and usually more ISK. So to learn to fight you really wanna get a grip on frig PvP first, in and environment like LS where you can control fights with plexes.

    what were you talking about with the faction warfare medium plex site or something sounding like that, not exactly familiar with this term and faction warfare but i would like to get into it. what exactly are those site thing and why would people go afk is it something to do with a plex?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah don't get confused with a Pilots Licence Extension and an FW plex/compound. It's a bit confusing for a newbro I know, but same name completely different things :) There's a link in the description of the vid with some FW plex info, but basically a plex is a 'site' where ppl who are in an FW corp can go and earn LP (loyalty points) by just sitting there for a specified period of time (until the plex has been 'captured/secured').
      And yeah ppl just afk in the sites sometimes cos apparently you literally don't have to do anything to run a plex/compound other than be inside the site. I dunno to me it seems kinda soulless content, but then again like I said I don't really know a lot about it.

    How do I make isk being a 'pirate'? the few kills I have got did not make up for the losses to get them. No one has dropped more than a few mil worth of items, not enough to replace one of my frigs :/

    • @massv953
      @massv953 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can fly cruisers and battlecruisers now too but afraid to take them out until I can figure out how to make isk to replace them. I would need to kill like 100 frigates that dropped something to replace a battle cruiser? I just dont see that happening especially with my lack of skills. What am i doing wrong?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup generally PVP is a costly exercise, not a way to earn money. The only real way to earn money from PVP is to join a FW militia. Then you can start running FW plexes, and missions which can actually make some serious ISK. The way an FW plex works is you need to sit inside the site for a specified time period, and the end of which you get loyalty points. Whilst you're in there, ppl from the other militia's will come and fight you, as well as pirate players like myself :)
      There's also mechanics around running plexes that have a broader scope, where basically the more plexes you complete, the more it adds to control of that system for your militia. There are also two types of plexing. Defensive plexing (plexing in your militia's conrolled space) or offensive plexing (plexing in enemy controlled space). Offensive plexing works towards your militia gaining control of that system, and defensive plexing works toward defending your controlled space making it less easy to take.
      But like I kinda mentioned in the video, I don't really know that much about FW as I've never done it :) But yeah these days I've picked up the basics just from living in the space and talking to ppl.

    • @massv953
      @massv953 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats kinda disappointing, I want to be a "space pirate" I have no interest in pve or grinding. I dont even need to get kills I just want to be able to demand cash or goods from a trapped player or something. There seriously no way to do this? because they advertise the game as this being a thing :(

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course you can do that :) This is just an open world sandbox, where if you're clever about it, you can contrive any situation you can imagine yourself or another player getting caught in. And ppl are scamming, ransoming and destroying each others stuff every day. If you're looking for guidance, I'd say try to join a HS wardec corp like Pirat or Marmite (but these corps tend to have pretty high entry standards) or a ganking corp like CODE.

  • @YumejiFujiwara
    @YumejiFujiwara 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, do i need to join factional warfare to actually do pvp there? I have to left my corp to join :C

    • @andrywez

  • @danielm9595
    @danielm9595 5 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @isectoid9454
    @isectoid9454 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    9:14 What are you talking about? Isn't plex supposed to be what you use to buy Omega days?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      isectoid sorry yeah that's a bit confusing I know... plex in this context is short for 'complex,' a combat zone used by pilots in factional ware fare.

    • @isectoid9454
      @isectoid9454 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks.
      So, how hard is FW for new PVPers? are there any FW based corporations?

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      isectoid PvP in EvE is always challenging for new players I guess. The easiest way to PvP as a newbro is to join a nullsec blob and jump in their big fleets where they'll use you as one of the foot soldiers basically. There's good things about it, you'll get free ships and a green killboard but won't learn a lot really, and definitely won't learn to solo.
      But yes there's heaps of FW corps, and I think it's really the best place for new players wanting to really learn to PvP capably. I mentioned some of the corps I like here, but the landscape in terms of who's active and has cool ppl playing is always changing. So poke around and see what might work for you.

    Basically alfas must avoid single PvP and/or low sec.

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah man low sec is perfect for alphas. Plexes means you can dictate what size hull you'll be fighting, so you can get fair(er) fights :) But yes solo PVP as an alpha is hard, and you need some PVP experience before you can really solo well as an alpha toon. I'm gonna do some solo PVP vids with one of my alphas characters at some point soon.

    • @notsure2211
      @notsure2211 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then what about hunting pirates around high sec? I've searched for maps that tell places, I suspected from the longevity of the game and the population these could actually exist, but couldn't find any debutante friendly info on the subject. The other thing is that for some odd reason people don't play together early on, as it is common in other MMO games. I find it very boring to play by myself.

    • @sprintonwater
      @sprintonwater  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is such a thing as hi-sec PVP, but that involves you joining a war dec corp and many of them have killboard efficiency requirements for entry. I don't think it's really what your looking for tho... these guys are generally pretty bad and actual PVP and very risk averse. Other than that you can't really PVP in hi-sec because of CONCORD.
      But there's lots of corps who will happily accept newbro pilots, so you certainly don't have to play alone. I mentioned a few of them in this video, but there's also groups like Brave Newbies, Test, Horde, Karmafleet. These guys do more null sec stuff and larger fleets generally. I dunno have a look around and ask ppl about corps that offer what you're looking for. There's literally a corp for whatever it is you wanna do.

      I mean because there's such a thing as a completely free, GOOD PC game... You can do everything in the game as a free account, just not to the same level as a paying player. CCP is a company, making money is their MO... smh
      Also it's really easy to pay for your game time with in game currency, provided you resourceful and smart about things. It's a bit grindy at first, but the more you become established, the easier it is to make money. Eventually you won't even think about it, ISK seriously grows on trees in EVE.

    In these regions you will encounter ppl with t2 and faction modules. As alpha you are not able to kill any of them since you will be limited on t1 modules and weapons with no thermodynamics so no overheat etc. So basically best to do is find some low sec or null corp and start working towards earning plex its easy in null (exploration is good start) or simply pay sub and train all core skills first... Learn about scaning, wormholes, D scan, different web tools etc. Eve is complex and you will need at least 6 months for some fits. I peraonaly hate fw cuz reshiping is pain in the ass and there is 99% chance that gate lead from high to fw low is campfest with bc bs t3 and logistics... This game...

    The game became pay to win.
    It was pay to play, like a normal game with abo, since they call it "free", what in fact is a lie, it got pay to win.
    Just because if you dont spend money, you can learn the most skills, what means you have less damage, less armor, less resistance, less speed, less ships, just less everything. You get some very basic skills and ships, thats it.
    So either you pay to get the good skills and all ships or spend a fucking ton of hours to grind for plex, what isnt fun, its just work.
