This car is like a weird mix of design elements from other manufacturers. Front, mclaren. Front side view, gives me 1st gen subaru brz vibes. Full side view is 100% taycan, and the rear end really reminds me of like an ioniq 6 or a mercedes eq. Normally I'd hate it, but this was executed pretty well and actually works as a cohesive design
It's not exactly copy, cause they paid millions and millions to the exact designers of Porsche & other fancy cars. As for Ford CEO to make such a statement, maybe they might be a collaboration in the future who knows, there's alr collaboration of Mercedes with Chinese brand.
Absolutely love the car! Don't think the similarities to a 720s are very prominent, and the Ultra version is certainly very impressive with 1548hp and 0-60 in 1.97, even if it is electric.
In the 1970s Japanese automakers employed a similar strategy to avoid tariffs on pickup trucks being shipped to the US. The cargo beds were shipped separately and were installed at the US ports.
12:30 the monitors at the rear aren’t come with the car. Driver can put Xiaomi pad/iPad there via attachments. Also there are plenty of 1/4 screw holes in the interior for things like phone holder and GoPro.

And they are soon releasing an SUV which looks like a Ferrari Purasangue. If these cars reaches US and EU , it’s game over , that’s why the tariffs. At least the CEO of Ford is direct and honest. And perhaps reminding himself every day how far China has come. Even the competition in China is brutal , so to stand out is really a great achievement.
The ceo of xiaomi is really based, they started off making phones, the phones are pretty good for the price, he openly said Huawei's phones are overpriced for what it is, people in China made fun of his funny accent when he's speaking English and made a remix song from him speaking English, he fully embraced the meme and put the song in their phone as a ringtone option. Years later he decided to make a car, he made one and got a racing license, made a video of him drifting and took the prototype to the Nurenburg race track and drove it himself. I don't think EVs are well developed enough to make gas cars irrelevant but their prototype performance car looks pretty cool. He would be a fun guest to have on Top Gear if it's still a thing
I swear, where did "Chaomi" come from?! It's "Shaomi"! Except this little thing that caused me a mental breakdown, I really enjoyed the styling analysis of the SU7. Let's see how it goes if it gets commercial approval for EU market too.
That's a fact. Only Chinese can produce EV's...even though im not an EV fan at all. Look better than Peugeot or Mercedes. I think only Renault and Skoda will survive on EU EV market and for US Tesla unless they all partner up. Chinese can't win the ICE engine race, but EV is their game.
“ it looks like a Porsche” is not a negative statement for either Porsche or Xiaomi. Right? Beauty and good look sells. What is wrong with that? Copying the look of AMC Pacer is not a good idea.
It seems like Xiaomi stock can't be bought through my broker. If they partner with Ford, they'll need to be at least twice as large as they are now to keep up with American demand. Looks like I'll miss out on this opportunity this time.
You can always vote to cancel your tariffs, since you often claim to be a democracy. Or is it not allowed to vote for something people really want in a democracy?
For him to say this publicly does make me think it's more of a rally cry to up Ford's EV game. I just hope it also means Ford could up their general sedan game, since they left the market essentially to become an SUV/Truck company. A Ford sedan would be a welcome thing, even if it was only an EV. Although with the EV push starting to face more realities and stalling a little any Ford sedan would be welcome. As for the Xiaomi itself. It is nice but definitely an amalgam design. But still admittedly well done. Chinese EVs though are heavily subsidized which is why they can sell at those prices. Even if imported, I wonder if they would do it at that pricing. Although I'm sure they would still undercut say Tesla.
Yes, the design is heavily influenced by the Taycan, and yes the front end looks like the McLaren 720S. Regardless, it's one if the best looking cars being manufactured today. As was pointed out in the video, there is still a big market for sedans.
Just drove my first electric car this week, and I also had a briefing of electric car maintenance and dangers when working on one from a big dealership. They are 100% not the future. The drive was quite fun tbh, but only for the first 5 minutes, then I realized that if you give an 18 yo kid a 250hp car, he will cause an accident, without question. Keeping the diesel.

If some tech companies can put together a nice car with an EV powertrain and little to no flaws, then it's probably not rocket science, and the big boys should be able to do the same thing with at least similar success, but here we are...😑
Honesty is terriblely rare in the western world regarding anything happening in China these days following the torch in New York.
SU7 is not coming to the states. Ford’s ceo is just being honest about the state of potential overseas competition; I respect him for that. US lawmakers have all but ensured chinese autos fail here with a 100% auto tax. The lotus electre is being affected hard by this. Additionally the sedan market in china is HUGE. That’s not the case in the US
Huawei president proudly use his iphone too. BYD CEO drove a mercedes... until he told his engineer to rip it apart to see how they can do it differently... good leader are not afraid of competition, rather they find ideas from competition.
If it’s fully sold out, that means they don’t have overcapacity issues as claimed by the US politicians. Those unsold GM and Ford trucks that have been sitting on dealers’ lots for over a year now and you may call them having overcapacity issues.
I cant believe this car is from a Chinese designer who has designed the BMW IX
Chris Bangle Strategic design consultant, Jean-Arthur Madelaine-Advenier: Design director at Xiaomi's Munich studio
It's not exactly copy, cause they paid millions and millions to the exact designers of Porsche & other fancy cars.
As for Ford CEO to make such a statement, maybe they might be a collaboration in the future who knows, there's alr collaboration of Mercedes with Chinese brand.
He is putting employees and unions on notice.
Sadly, they won't allow us to buy it here. I can't afford a new car these days now.
Absolutely love the car! Don't think the similarities to a 720s are very prominent, and the Ultra version is certainly very impressive with 1548hp and 0-60 in 1.97, even if it is electric.
I mean they could partner up with them. Bring the car without wheels, front/rear ends, seats, and have the new parts installed here.
In the 1970s Japanese automakers employed a similar strategy to avoid tariffs on pickup trucks being shipped to the US. The cargo beds were shipped separately and were installed at the US ports.
@@terrencebiggane8648 good to know this a plausible thing to do.
@@terrencebiggane8648 In 2019 the US kidnapped HUAWEI's CEO, since then tech giants from China would think twice cooperating with the US side.
12:30 the monitors at the rear aren’t come with the car. Driver can put Xiaomi pad/iPad there via attachments.
Also there are plenty of 1/4 screw holes in the interior for things like phone holder and GoPro.
I want one. Especially for $30,000
Never going to happen.
saw a nio et9 driving in Cali one day
Xiaomi's designer used to be at Porsche, similarly, the design chief of BYD used to be at Audi.
It’s cheaper than a model 3 in China , has way more standard equipment and more luxury appointments. It also has superior performance. And they are soon releasing an SUV which looks like a Ferrari Purasangue. If these cars reaches US and EU , it’s game over , that’s why the tariffs. At least the CEO of Ford is direct and honest. And perhaps reminding himself every day how far China has come. Even the competition in China is brutal , so to stand out is really a great achievement.
can’t tell me the front doesn’t look like a Mclaren artura/720s with the general proportions of a Taycan
In Europe it will have a very different price tag.
@@avigator I'm sure due to the taxes it will be on par with other brands, price wise.
It’s not chaomi or shaomi. It’s actually pronounced more like “See” “Ow” together really quickly.
I would drive this over the McLaren GT lol
That's a fact. Only Chinese can produce EV's...even though im not an EV fan at all. Look better than Peugeot or Mercedes. I think only Renault and Skoda will survive on EU EV market and for US Tesla unless they all partner up.
Chinese can't win the ICE engine race, but EV is their game.
“ it looks like a Porsche” is not a negative statement for either Porsche or Xiaomi. Right? Beauty and good look sells. What is wrong with that? Copying the look of AMC Pacer is not a good idea.
Admitting that you are behind is the first step to revitalizing your company. Whether you do it publicly or privately should not matter.
Watching this video on my Xiaomi.
Review the "New Scout Vehicles". They are very... Cool
It seems like Xiaomi stock can't be bought through my broker.
If they partner with Ford, they'll need to be at least twice as large as they are now to keep up with American demand. Looks like I'll miss out on this opportunity this time.
The break rotors and pads are highly questionable right now. They’re the size of a ford fiestas break kit for such a heavy car
The price you keep repeating is meaningless outside China.
The BYD seal with sells for 25k in China is between 50 to 60k in Europe.
Them taxes. (Australia laughing in the corner)
Seal sells for 40k here in Mexico
It's call taxes, he's saying why can't American brand make a car that cost the same with the same features and quality
Although I'm sure they would still undercut say Tesla.
this is good sign. to catch up with chinese EV first thing to do is to admit that we are behind.
Yes, the design is heavily influenced by the Taycan, and yes the front end looks like the McLaren 720S. Regardless, it's one if the best looking cars being manufactured today. As was pointed out in the video, there is still a big market for sedans.
Su7 max broke speed record in Nuremberg race track. It’s bigger than Tesla S and faster.
I really don't see any Taycan in it...bit it looks great!
可能是我没意识到,你的意思是说,让你换个孩子肯定是来不及了,所以只能换掉车了是吗?
Please review byd atto and seal they are becoming really really popular and i think they look great
I love that purple interior 💯😈
AliExpress Taycan!!!
And you cheap can't afford it 😂
Temu lol
The main problem with this car are the brakes. They are fine for average use but the way this car is advertised to be used on track it's dangerous.
How do you know?
Which is why there are sets of performance brakes (and brake system upgrade)on sell.
It was there from the start per ask...😅
@@avigatorbecause Chinese auto channel tried it on track short after it come out. all you have do just get better brakes. The prices of toyota camry, can't beat it. Xiaomi Su7 max 498miles range, 0-60 2.8s, 664hp.
@ Only better brakes? Sure bro 😂
I've never seen such a new car become so common on the streets in such a short time.
Farley was not being weird, he was just being honest.
You haven't understood this for the longest. You hate on EVS!
McLaren Taycan
小McLaycan
While Xiaomi have an extremely low presence in the US, their product line is expansive. I've owned many of their products, and highly respect their corporate edict of limiting prices to a 7 or 8% profit margin.
Apple invested BILLIONS on R&D for an Apple car. My best guess is the profit margins of >100% couldn't be resolved.
BTW Lei Jun (Xiaomi founder) drives a Ferrari Purosangue lol... he's been spotted in one recently. I expect their SUV to take inspiration from ferrari
已经在路上了,小米下一辆SUV的伪装车从外形来看非常接近那台法拉利。一切顺利的话我们会在2025年Q1快结束时看到它。
Competitor nowadays don't need legacy and history to strive and deliver. It takes Xiaomi less than 10 years to achieve from mobile phone to a sport ev car
Can Porsche make the same car that breaks the speed record, auto driving, integrate with their smart home system, with that same price ? Let that sink in.
Great preview of Chinese cars! It is pronounced as "Siaomi", there is no "Ch")
10:18 i want to say ,a lot of people in XIAOMI which build SU 7 come from another car company called GEELY
That was merely 1/10 of the engineers in Xiaomi, it's not "a lot". Chinese internet can sometimes be very false on information.
All the vents on the car are functional. Just that the front side intake which leads to the front wheel wells are too small inside the wheel wells. 😂
Oh I forgot to mention, there is another design where they slapped plates onto 19-inch wheels, but people found the wheels without the plates much beautiful than the ones shown here, which are the 20-inch ones. 😂
I can’t wait till you do a video about the scout design. Please be next.😢
Looks like a normal looking new 4 door sedan, just not the cars that US market builds.
The Chinese are building some beautiful designed cars. Design is super important to sales. BMW axed their design team. I think Audi should be next. The new A5 is a bit disappointing.
Also VW
Just watch who his new employer is in a few year, these kind of people are only loyal to themselves.
its shaaomi not chaomi
LOL, it wasn't until I saw the spelling that I knew what company he was referring to.
Please be aware it’s designed by the same German engineer who designed the Porsche Taycan.
You obviously didn't watch the who interview of Jim Farley. Many executives would do the same, in order to compete, first you need to know your competitor. How? You use their products and test out. Huawei's founder is a big fan of Apple. He uses iPhone. He said publicly to Huawei, Apple is like a teacher.
丰田最后进入了美国主流市场,福特也没有破产,只要美国人掌握了游戏规则,没什么可担心的,如果你足够聪明,会发现这是福特的CEO在访谈中给出的答案。
I believe it looks like "certain car"
Because same guy designed it.
Ford's definitely trying to secure a investment / partnership
Mustang EV (
How did you not notice the rip-off McLaren headlights??
Xiaomi is a chinese tech company known for their Android phones fyi.
"Diffuser diapers" 😂
Back is Aston Martin, front is McLaren
Ford CEO Jim Farley, for a moment, turned into his cousin, Chris Farley’s, character in ‘Tommy Boy.’
You need to talk about the BYD seal, very very stuning chinese car
In China, these two are what I'm most fed up with.
The Xpeng Mona M03 is a great looking sedan as well.
Porsche Taycan for the cheap 😂please bring it over here and force American companies to compete
yeah it looks a lot like the tycan , then why didnt people by the tycan???
I saw it on the street and to be honest it looks amazing. I think Porsche is finished. You get this for 30k and with more stuff.😂😂
I tought this was a McLaren when I see it on the thumbnail 💀
The car in the pic is xiaomi su 7 i believe. It's a new electric car by a phone manufacturing company, yes! A bloody phone company. The max version of this car has over 1500hp and the engine is made by byd.
Oh so we can’t get a sedan or hatch from them but they’re still worth it?
