We used to say we'd love to see Harry win a cup at Spurs but I'd love to see Ben Davies holding one up; he's been such a cornerstone for Spurs for a long time now.
"My last three managers from my time in England were Sean Dyche, Davie Moyes and Jose Mourinho. All top managers in their own right who have achieved incredible things in the game but they were very hard work, dedication, learning what you need to do and going out to do it. Then I had two years with Ange Postecoglou and one of them with Brendan Rodgers. Ange blew my mind because he really opened me up. I wasn't playing out from the back for the sake of it, he wanted to play out from the back with the mindset of scoring up the other end. Under him, you see the game totally differently and it's a different thought process and I feel completely blessed that I got to experience that." - Joe Hart. Interesting observation from an ex players perspective and worth noting … our players are not just learning a new system of playing but also a new philosophy which even veteran’s hadn’t considered.

Watching your reviews and reflection of Spurs is always a pleasure regardless of a loss or draw.... but after a win, let alone a good win, it's downright food for the soul. I always enjoy your ramblings Mr Gold.
Been waiting for your return from holiday. I hope you enjoyed the time off! Looking forward to the two matches ahead. Feels like there'll be a lot of opportunities for players to step up and perform on a big stage
Amazing turnaround. Ange was criticised for rotating players in his squad for the various league and cup games and now he’s being advised he needs to rotate his players and rest them more.
I don’t think a lot of English football fans, let alone Spurs fans understand an Ange Postecoglou striker. It’s not all about the goals. I’m not saying Ange doesn’t want an out and out goal machine, but historically the goals from his teams are always spread out, with goals coming from midfielders, wingers, fullbacks etc. yes he bought Dom to score goals, but he predominantly bought him because of his workload and the ability to press within his system, endlessly. If you look at him compared with Harry Kane and only measure on that metric, you’re gonna be disappointed. Unfortunately too many fail to read and understand the game.
It is really annoying the way the pundits react if we concede a goal from a set piece. Like Ali says it is just two goals, but they completely refuse to acknowledge that there has been any improvement this season compared to last.
Pundits can’t bring themselves to say positive things about Spurs, it’s a rarity if they do. It’s lazy from them just to say we concede from set pieces and we are inconsistent. We’ve conceded a handful of set pieces and have won 9 in 11… it’s very annoying I completely agree
@ how can Ange train players not to head the ball into another player to almost score an own goal and then the opposition to score a tap in. Maybe the players need to take more responsibility?
@ we’ve conceded 2 set pieces. And are right up there in terms of set pieces faced of any club. So we are doing better in that department. It’s just lazy journalism to say we are awful from them
Thanks Ali, great as usual. I thought that VAR would look at what happens in the box at corners in ALL games .... and would help to stop the bad stuff by bookings etc - but this is not the case, just as much happens now, probably getting worse.
Welcome back Ali. Yesterday's the reason why Ange is our man. Unfortunately there is a narrative to certain section of our fan base, that want Ange to fail to suit their argument. They've gone quiet funnily enough after yesterdays game. Dont get me wrong Palace last Sunday, Brighton away a month ago were poor. But yesterday and Wednesday shows why we must stick with Ange. 30 odd years of not winning much isnt a 5 minute job!
People always say we have a dodgy defense and concede a lot of set pieces. We’ve conceded only two set piece goals against arguably the two best set piece teams in the league. And, we’ve conceded less than Chelsea, Villa, and Brighton with the same amount of goals conceded as City and Arsenal (11). And, we have 2 clean sheets this season, although not amazing, its the same amount as City and Chelsea. Seems like people want to point out faults in our game but ignore other teams. The only problem we have right now is consistency, which is understandable with a young team. Hopefully this result against Villa can give us sustained form.
First half the woman behind me was saying “I know Johnson scored 6 goals in 6 games but what has he done since then” and “son hasn’t done much recently” (he has been injured but hey technically she was correct he hadn’t scored or provided an assist in the games he was out injured). I therefore struggled to contain a chuckle when son provided the assist for Johnson to equalise.
Welcome back Mr Gold. Sincerely hope you and your family had a great holiday. But good to have you back. Always follow your reports on the game so yeah looking forward to reports back as usual. Best wishes.
Mr Gold is back and what a game to talk about. So many good things happen in the second half. Spurs making it 1-1 started the turn around though the subs finished it. Son coming off was the talking point and it took away from Ange replacing Benta for Yves his pressing and being on the front foot really lifted the team. Radu is slowly showing why he will be a top CB, great win for Spurs and even bigger for Ange as now people are seeing he is a manger who will make the hard calls , taking of Son showed he thinks about the bigger picture and is willing to take a risk.
I think the Ange effect is really starting to seep into the players. Johnson has noted previously about how Ange has drummed into him exactly where he should position and run when on the attack. No coincidence that he is in such good form. One player was asked what Ange said at half time to rev them up and the answer was along the lines, "He did not say much. Just keep on doing what we do and it will come. It was the other players who spoke most." Apparently Kulusevski said, "If we get 1 we will get 4." He has become a real leader and comes on all Ange like when interviewed, "We just need to keep working hard. We need to keep improving," etc. Even when being praised about a particular play he noted "Yes, that is what the gaffer wants from me. When I don't do that he gets very annoyed." You can imagine what that might look like. Sarr seems to play with incredible freedom considering he is gliding through thick traffic a lot of the time and passing without fear. I remember a Celtic player say that Ange does not get upset if you give the ball away if you are playing his way, "Just go and get it back." Don't now what Vicario was like in his previous teams but he is really vocal out there and obviously delights when he gets the captains armband. He has obviously taken to the play out from the back idea, even though it gives me shivers at times. cheers mate!
Thanks Ali… I was at the game, great second half, but off the back of a solid first. The booing was exclusively at officials with their lack of dealing with Villa’s constant time wasting and refusal to allow any tackles at all. He was awful. btw I predicted 4-1, and still was as we went upstairs for halftime sherbets.
Welcome back and thanks for the video, Alasdair. No offence, but it was probably good that you were not around to report on the Palace game. Living through it once was enough. Great game against Villa with some excellent individual performances. I agree that it was definitely the correct decision by Ange to take Son off when he did. In the past we have had situations where certain players seemed to have a clause in their contract that they could never be substituted (hello Mr Kane). You have mentioned previously that Spurs had not allowed David Pleat to launch his book at the stadium. However, last week I was lucky enough to go to an interview and book signing with David organised by the THST. David at 79 still has an incredible memory and entertained everyone with a host of insights and anecdotes before signing copies of his book and posing for selfies - a class act.
Hope you had a lovely holiday Ali. Have missed these videos. Especially the therapy session after Palace. Glad you missed that one 😂 great win and I think we are slowly starting to properly click. More to do of course but so positive.
Thanks for great video as always, but also the fundraising, just been to your page. I'd like to mention Ben Davies tackle on Watkins, if he had got that wrong Villa would have been away one on one and it could easily have been 1-2. Instead we break away and score for 2-1. Match changing moments that go under the radar. Glad he's getting much better fan support this year for all the reasons others mention.
Ali, I think you're exactly right with your assessment of Joe Hart's comments. Ange is different in his approach and outlook on the game and as such, if you are trying to understand him through a more traditional framework, you are unlikely to come to the correct conclusion. People often criticise his system because it doesn't make sense to them in that familiar framework. Take set pieces, sure he spends time on this element like everyone does, but he's not going to spend extra time on it because his past experience has shown that this becomes less and less of an issue as the system beds in. That's why he says he doesn't care, his experience tells him the fix is already in place.
Alliiiiiiiiii, missed you mate. Hope you and your wife had a fantastic holiday, you look refreshed and glad you made it back safely!!! Now come on you spurs and look forward to this video 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
The team is starting to cook, our intensity had them in shock our first half wasnt as bad as people made out they were lucky to score, teams will start crumbling from our quick transitions and intense pressing, once our finishing improves we will start blowing teams off the park
Ange is not a one on one communicator with his players. It goes back to his first coaching job when he had to retire one of his best mates when he transitioned from player to manager. The distance allows him to be ruthless with his squads. The player communication comes from the line managers.
Villa played really deep and forced us inside we could not get past their full backs on the wings. First and third goal is what we needed to do get the ball across from the wing- result goal. Solanke was outstanding throughout. Bentancaur I feel is returning to the original version we had before his injury. His competitive tackling spread to Romero and Porro I absolutely loved this alongside our intricate passing. Our mentality yesterday needs to still be there against Ipswich this weekend. COYS
For you US based fans, all the premature and impatient negativity for Brennan and Solanke reminds me of how Coach Deion (Prime) Sanders was received when first taking over the Univ of Colorado Buffalo 🦬 football team. But now a year+ on and contenting for a league title, many of those ‘haters’ have had to eat their words. Solanke’s WORLD CLASS pressing alone is worth $50M in Ange’s system. He changes the tempo of how the opposition plays out which leads to so many turnovers for us. And we are watching the talented Johnson evolve in front of our eyes into Spurs’ next great lethal attacker…
LOL. US fan here, not at all the same thing. No one has had to eat any words about Dieon, he's not beaten anyone with a pulse. They could easily lose 3 of the next 4. Deion does himself no favors with the way he talks and carries himself. He is classless, always has been. That said, agree with your other points on Spurs :)
@@RoShiKi01 let me know when they beat a ranked team. He's never done it. 3rd in the worst p5 conf in the country....blown off the ball by a soft Nebraska.
Hi Alasdair nice to have you back hope you and your wife had a great time thanks for the update very entertaining and informative thanks for all your hard work take care stay safe
Missed you Ali, good to have you back. Ange ball is starting to click but still a long way to go. Slowly locking in some of the positions and how they’re connecting so the ‘shopping list’ is clear for January. Hopefully the ‘Ange plan’ will be easier for others to understand now. The nasty attackers will just find something else to complain about.
Love you Ali. The USA coverage of the game was doing my head in, constantly misrepresenting stats from last season and claiming Ange do “plan B”. Was so happy with his tactical tweaks at HT to get the result we deserved.
I’ve been watching Vuskovic carefully here in Belgium. He’s obviously a talented player but he’s definitely not gonna be ready for premier league next season 100%. He’s still growing so his pace isn’t great yet. Much like VDV he needs to fully grow for that to come back. Phillips isn’t gonna be ready yet either imo. They’re also both very very young. I think we need a CB/LB in January. Long story short I feel same as you. I also would like. Better back up keeper but that’s probably for the summer.
Did you notice how, in one recent interview, Postecoglou started talking about how he hopes he's around to benefit from Mikey Moore when he's 21-22? Which would be another 4-5 years. I thought that was interesting seeing as he's played down staying the club for that long before. Maybe that could be a sneaky question to ask him in the next press conference. Just don't tell him it was my question! 😂
I think this is why it’s important that fans aren’t constantly losing it every time we have a challenging result. I suspect in 2 years time we will want Ange for longer. If we stress him out and he doesn’t enjoy it it’s less likely he will. If we support him and back him he will get closer to the club and stay. He is a very good coach. Up the Spurs ⚪️👍
@@davidmcgeoch9387 I completely agree. Some of the negativity he has received from elements of our fanbase could make him question if he wants to show us that loyalty. It's a long time ahead and so much can happen, either negatively or positively, for him. I just thought it was interesting he even mentioned the prospect.
@@timp4417 Yes, I’ve always thought there was a possibility he could stay longer. I think he likes that Tottenham is an aspirational club. They would like to become bigger and stronger than what they currently are. Win trophies etc. Australians love an underdog. But yes it’s important we support him. Fair criticism is OK. But there have been a lot of people manipulating statistics to try to suggest he hasn’t been successful. I don’t think that’s legitimate criticism. We should judge based on how he goes at the end of the season and whether there have been internal improvements within the team. Look at Kulu for example. Moving him to midfield was an excellent move 🤌 Up the Spurs ⚪️👍
Much easier for Ange to ignore twitters, too many so called Spurs fans acting like a manager & never been to the game, they should support Arsenal instead and bring negativity crap to them.
I think he’s is a realist, he’s not where he needs to be just yet so to suggest he’ll be around in 4-5 years. The first year is the restructuring, the second is the offence, the third is the final click and the defence
It's not that simple with the Palace game. Spurs's running numbers were good. The problem was that Palace are going to be more intense, better than any team at duels, because they have the players for that style. Guehi, Lacroix, Chalobah, Mitchell, Munez, Wharton, Schlupp... Spurs players just simply aren't as physical as those guys. That's a defensive setup built for dueling and battling. So, as Ange said, the issue was that Spurs were getting sucked into situations where they have to go into duels with them in the first place. Spurs had to avoid getting into those battles, and they didn't. It's not for the lack of running or intensity, it's that Palace are always going to be better at physicality due to the nature of their players. This sort of nuance is lacking for the average football fan.
I did wonder where you had got to as there hadn't been any recent videos, and you weren't in the pre match presser. I went for the first time ever on Sunday, but I didn't see you around, although didn't expect to 😂 although I did see someone i know from down my way, who used to train me at football 30 odd years ago 😂 glad you got home safe, and we can now have regular videos 😂
I thought we out fought Villa. First half we pressed them back but couldn't break them down. At the game, fans around me were very confident we would do them 2nd half. Yes we did and cynical them wasting Villa got the spam treatment
Maddison surprised Villa because as soon as the ref blew the whistle he was on it, and some of the Villa players just weren't ready for it. Good performances from our players, especially Sarr, but they all did their bit for that comeback.
Was a little bit sceptical on 65m for Solanke (I think understandably so) - however, I have to say that his work rate is unbelievable and actually his link up play is far better than I gave him credit for. If he can continue to add more goals the 65m looks like it will be totally worth it. Not to bring up Arsenal but... they're absolutely crying out for someone like him. Also, we look far more balanced with Sarr in midfield. So dynamic and is added more of an attacking threat to his game too! Deki is an absolute phenomenon at the moment.
Monday just got better. Cheers Ali. One question and I hope this isn't a negative but with Richy now injured and the new youth not quite up to prem speed have we maybe missed a trick not signing a player like eze or another sort of senior player who is at that level? Very happy with the kids but just a thought. Keep up the good work Ali. Love your videos COYS
Loved hearing about you in fan mode, you big Spursy monster.😈Scare em!😂 The Palace game was pants. You’re lucky to have missed it. But the Villa game was worth the laggyness, haha, I was jet lagged from Asia myself.😅 Coys~ we need to push on and catch up with the league leaders, esp after smashing Man City.🎉
I'm pretty sure Emery got his tactics wrong in firstly underestimating our press and secondly to set his team up to play slow from the back and hit our high line with long balls into the channels, using Watson's pace without Mickey 'white Van man' Der Ven.. our press in the 2nd half was just too good! Ben Davies was an absolute rock, and I think he's a better partner for Dragusin than Romero.. it's looking like good depth and back ups at the minute, and having players like Madders on the bench is testament to the squad depth improving.. also.. for the Ange doubters - when we drew with Bournemouth at the start of the season, all the negatives came out in their drives.. Bournemouth who have now gone on to handle themselves against a lot of bigger clubs - and beat City.. everything is going in the right direction for us #coys
We need a term that is opposite to Spursy to reflect what Spurs did to Villa and start putting fear into opponents. For me, it should be spurred. As in, Villa got Spurred!
Welcome back, Ali! Glad you had a great holiday! With Spurs currently 7th in the PL, what can we glean - if anything - from their +11 goal differential, which is the second-best in the PL?
Thought exactly the same thing when the Sky commentary highlighted the Villa set piece goal, Lazy analysis they are obviously not watching our matches this season.
Thank you, Ali, happy to have you back. Glad you had a great holiday. Have you officially overtaken Rob for having taken more vacation days this year? And what was Tottenham's win-loss record when you were away? Would it give you good justification to extend your holiday?

I think you're exactly right with your assessment of Joe Hart's comments.
Welcome back Ali. After the disaster that was the Palace game this last week really feels like an upward turn in our season.
Alliiiiiiiiii, missed you mate. Hope you and your wife had a fantastic holiday, you look refreshed and glad you made it back safely!!! Now come on you spurs and look forward to this video 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Great to have you back. Hope you have a few hours to explore Istanbul. It is a fantastic city and I am sure you will want to return for a holiday.
Humans are allowed to feel emotion. Men are allowed to feel emotion to let it out.
Let sonny take his space and be whole of himself. It’s normal
The team is starting to cook, our intensity had them in shock our first half wasnt as bad as people made out they were lucky to score, teams will start crumbling from our quick transitions and intense pressing, once our finishing improves we will start blowing teams off the park
Welcome back! Needed this today.👍
Ange is not a one on one communicator with his players. It goes back to his first coaching job when he had to retire one of his best mates when he transitioned from player to manager.
The distance allows him to be ruthless with his squads. The player communication comes from the line managers.
He’s been the same ever since South Melbourne.
Remember, Villa rested 10 of their XI before the game. Lost 4-1.
Hey 👋 Ali, welcome back I hope you had a nice trip ! Palace game was crap but last 2 have been great performances
Loved that 'hello everyone'. That was a mixture of happiness, exhaustion and knowing (that the happiness probably won't last long, from experience!)
Once again another fantastic and informative video Alasdair
Glad you and Mrs Gold had a great holiday.
Yeah Alasdair is back ! We missed you mate ! And the players knew also how to welcome you back ! 😉
Son may feel confident himself and bad about the substitution
But as a fan, I knew that he was injured and it’s the best thing to do
Villa played really deep and forced us inside we could not get past their full backs on the wings. COYS
I love how Bentancaur took the shots on goal. Just one of those needs to go in.
@@Liq004 Lol! Thanks for the reply… proving my point exactly ;)
@@RoShiKi01 let me know when they beat a ranked team. He's never done it. 3rd in the worst p5 conf in the country....blown off the ball by a soft Nebraska.
@@Liq004 😂😂😂…
Thank you Goldie
The lads ensured you was back with a bang
Welcome home 🍻
totally agree with you....we should just enjoy the football....still hope for a trophy.
Good to have you back Ali. I’m off to the states a week today. Making a stop in Miami your pics got me excited for it!
Moving him to midfield was an excellent move 🤌
Up the Spurs ⚪️👍
Much easier for Ange to ignore twitters, too many so called Spurs fans acting like a manager & never been to the game, they should support Arsenal instead and bring negativity crap to them.
I think he’s is a realist, he’s not where he needs to be just yet so to suggest he’ll be around in 4-5 years. The first year is the restructuring, the second is the offence, the third is the final click and the defence
Great to have you back Ali ❤
Welcome back Ali, I have been waiting for this video all day.
Loved it as always
Great see you back🎉 missed your updates and information 👍👍👍👍😘
I did wonder where you had got to as there hadn't been any recent videos, and you weren't in the pre match presser. I went for the first time ever on Sunday, but I didn't see you around, although didn't expect to 😂 although I did see someone i know from down my way, who used to train me at football 30 odd years ago 😂 glad you got home safe, and we can now have regular videos 😂
I thought we out fought Villa. First half we pressed them back but couldn't break them down. At the game, fans around me were very confident we would do them 2nd half. Yes we did and cynical them wasting Villa got the spam treatment
It's great to have you back,Alistair. What a great game it was.. I hope we can continue to push on now..
It's a Varlek not Dalek. Awesome vid Ali, great film references as always. Good to have you back.
Maddison surprised Villa because as soon as the ref blew the whistle he was on it, and some of the Villa players just weren't ready for it. Good performances from our players, especially Sarr, but they all did their bit for that comeback.
The wall was off, I don’t think they respected Madders.
@@denisewilson9783Makes one wonder why this quick-take doesn’t happen more often
Another good video mate welcome we were very good on Sunday dragusin and Davis have kept 2 clean sheets agree with you about improvement
Welcome back Alasdair.
It’s great to hear from you again.
I do enjoy your videos.
Seán
Think in long run get more from Lucas gray Moore and Lanksher playing on Thurs regardless of result
Welcome back mate... first Solanke goal had Harry Kane vines, in both build up play and finish!
No, it had Solanke vibes 😉 looking forward, not back...
He’s back ! (Film quote for you Ali ! )
Hearing Ali in the post match presser. Good to know the game would be dissected
Welcome back Ali!
Solanke is a beast …
Great to have you back and perfect timing 😂🎉😂
Welcome back pal....what a performance that was
Ally Gold is Baxk! Life’s better now! I was over the moon when Spurs won, now I am over the Stars! ✨
Welcome, Ali! Hope you had a great Vacation!!
Unfortunately there's no guarantee that Eze wouldn't get injured. Just look at Odebert for example
Just meant a senior player. Ode only young aswell. We have gray berg ode all very young players. Just think we needed another senior head
@@scottburns7182 I think they'll land Eze next summer 🤞
Hope you had a great holiday good to see you back though i always listen to you on my runs
Thanks Ali ... have a sweet Turkish tea for us all
How the fuck am I meant to sleep without Ali gold ?
Ange perhaps referring to his horse picks for the Melbourne Cup today
Loved hearing about you in fan mode, you big Spursy monster.😈Scare em!😂
The Palace game was pants. You’re lucky to have missed it. But the Villa game was worth the laggyness, haha, I was jet lagged from Asia myself.😅
Coys~ we need to push on and catch up with the league leaders, esp after smashing Man City.🎉
Really odd that there was no rememberance for Ehiogu's birthday at the match, considering his connection to both teams.
Nick Montgomery came from the Central Coast Mariners my side 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤙🤙
Top video as usual Ali, welcome back 👍🏼
Welcome back it’s been too long.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself when Ange l breaks the trophy drought
Is Postecoglou your favourite manager from the ones after Poch?
Too early to call, wait for this time next season.
Vocario is weak at corners. Freaks out. Defo the weakest link in the team
Thank you, Ali, happy to have you back. Glad you had a great holiday. Have you officially overtaken Rob for having taken more vacation days this year? And what was Tottenham's win-loss record when you were away? Would it give you good justification to extend your holiday?
Since our biggest problem is maintaining intensity for away games, it’s great that we have so much competition for places in midfield
Maintaining intensity away isn’t the issue, playing shit football is, this team are like Jekyll & Hyde.
