As soon as I saw "most assists in a season" criteria with 2 points, I knew the points structure was created by Carragher to downplay Salah's achievements. Carragher lowkey has some issue with Salah. Salah is statistically far better than Henry as he has the same goals and assistsas Henry despite being a "WINGER"

@jayyyy1679yeah agree somewhat with Suarez. But the thing here is - consistency and longevity in the premier league - so it has to go to Henry for now. Suarez is out because he left after a short while.
Mo Salah has more goals from same number of appearances as Henry in all competitions, despite the fact that Mo Salah is a "WINGER". Thierry Henry used to score in small matches and would go missing during big games, while Mo Salah is a big game player. Carragher only put him ahead of Salah because he doesn't like Salah and wanted to probably come up with this ridiculous points scoring metrics to discredit Mo Salah just as he is about to overtake Billy Liddell.
Thierry Henry was an ARTIST. He revolutionised that Winger/ Striker role that is so prominent now… I have said this time and time again (an he practically confirms it here), had Thierry put “getting a goal by all means possible” first, instead of “style”… he would have scored 250+ PL goals. He was an entertainer before he was a striker and that is what stats don’t show. Between 2002 - 2006, he was simply UNSTOPPABLE and I am glad that people haven’t forgotten this.
He was amazing, but I think Ronaldo was just as good technically and how revolutionsied the position. What splits them - i believe - is that Henry never led Arsenal to a champions league, and he never scored in any final he played in. He also didn't win the balon d'or - but i don't think that really matters much.
It annoys me that people keep talking about peak CR7 at United as if he only had 1 good year there. Yes his 2008 accolades are extraordinary, but in his last 3 seasons at United from 2006 to 2009 he was the best player in the league and one of the top 3 best players in the world. People forget that in the 2006/2007 season he won both PL Player of the year and Young POTY, one of the few players to do so, and led the team to their first Prem in years, he was also second in the Ballon D'or that year. The 2007/2008 season he won everything. And in the 2008/2009 season, despite having ankle surgery, he still led United to a third league title in a row finishing second in the PL Golden Boot by one goal, and led them to another Champions League final (with big performances against Inter, Porto, Arsenal), finished second in the Ballon D'or again, and won the Puskas Awars for goal of the year.
Also his first FOUR years at United he played on the right wing in a 4-4-2 flat, which means his main job was providing width, beating his man, and crossing the ball for the two strikers. He always played with two strikers/forwards in front of him, Van Nistelrooy and Saha, then Rooney and Ruud, then Rooney and Tevez, Berbatov and Rooney. It was only his last two years there (2007-2009) that he started to focus more on goals and output, especially after Van Nistelrooy left, but he still mostly started on the wings further from goal. Different era than today's game with the role of forwards and changing of systems.

Henry was a phenomenon. Young Messi was in awe of him, Zidane and Bergkamp always looked for him, he had world class players fighting each other for his shirt after games. Unlike post-2006 modern players, he played to win not boost his personal stats - and his stats were still phenomenal. Perhaps only R9 or Pele were a more ‘complete’ striker.
Ronaldo was something else, none of these players won the epl x3 in a row with a ballon dror Including a CL trophy, not seen a more complete players since him in the EPL.
unlike salah who had to go away and come back in his prime because he wasnt good enough to get into the chelsea squad. Ronaldo was good enough at that young age and had the mentality to say I will be the best and forced his way in and then went on to score 40+ goals in a season, win champions league, PL title and champions league and ballon d'or, then left and got even better. he is just a level above
Jamie makes a strong point on Aguero tbf. He was always in the top 2 or 3 strikers in the league but never the best all round player. Kane, Henry, Salah, Rooney all provided more as all round footballers along with the goals. Prime Aguero was something else though I wouldn’t dare deny. Lethal finisher.

Liverpool should extent Salah's contract. Salah took 26,633 minutes to reach 200 goals, the fastest of any Liverpool player to reach a double century. He is the first player in Premier League history to score 10 goals and make 10 assists in three consecutive seasons. Salah netted 32 league goals in 2017/18, beating Ronaldo and Suarez's record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League season (only Haaland has more). Salah has won 6 Player of the Month Awards in total, the most of any currently active Premier League player. In October 2021, he became the first opposition player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He has the fastest hattrick in UCL history. Salah is the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history. He has the most left footed goals in PL history. He is tied with Haaland this season with 13 goals. Salah has 9 assists, Haaland 0. 30+ G/A every single season since joining Liverpool. Currently most assists in this UCL season. He is 14 goals away from the top 5 PL goalscorers of all time. 11th all time assists, needs 3 more to pass Beckham. Salah has been involved in 61% of Liverpool goals since his arrival 8 years ago, about 67% this season. His record against the big Six is absolutely ridiculous. Physically and mentally wise, he's on the same level as Ronaldo. He is 32 years old and looks as fit as ever. Incredible workrate, insane output of passes and goals, trivela's and vision like its nothing, body feints, being able to dribble multiple guys and create goals out of nothing and he rarely wants to see the ball going backwards, he only moves forward to the opponent's goal, tries to stay on his feet and wants to motivate the rest of the team. One thing Hazard was known for was his physical abilities, especially that trick with his leg. Salah is actually also known for his physical ability and his balance. There is no other winger (except for Vini, Saka and Raphina perhaps) who will produce what he produces for his club. The most amazing stat is that he's currently beating his version from the 17/18 season. He's writing history. He's beating his version from the season where he peaked the most.

I agree with your comment. Like you’re not wrong. But I do think that at a certain point you have to draw the line. I know Jamie doesn’t bring it up himself, so it may not be true. It did seem like that listening to his reasoning. But to be honest, I think we would all sound like that trying to justify our own selections too. In order for us to come up with a list our mind has to rationalise why someone does not deserve to be higher and also justify why someone does. The ranking point at the start says it all really. All other biased opinions does not matter. All the trophies and personal accolades. The only Ballon D'or winner. Best player in the world at the time. Not only that but this was the Cristiano version where he could take the ball anywhere on the pitch and dribble past 4-5 people with ease. People often forget that in the Premier League he was not only goals. The speed, the flicks, the tricks, all the spectacular goals, left foot, right foot, headers, free kicks, he had it all. Ronaldo is the GOAT. Prime Barclays fans know.
The fact that Salah couldn’t make it as a young player at Chelsea…puts his achievements below Ronaldo who made it at United as a young player. Ronaldo/Henry/Salah for me.
Making it as a young player makes no sense. Like there is a debate between Salah and Ronaldo. Henry is top. Salah’s had a very consistently freakish output for Liverpool for years now. You wouldn’t argue that Vardy can’t be an all-time great because he his first PL season was in the middle of his career, same with someone like Ian Wright who started playing football at a later age.
You have to think about how salah had to make it out of a nation like Egypt where he didn’t get Acess to the same quality of football that Ronaldo has at a young age
Sadio Mane Scored more goals than hazard in prem (111 to 85) None of those penalty goals Single handed dragged Liverpool to champions league Scored in champions league final AFCON winner Liverpool rose from 8th to 4th when he came in And dropped from 2nd to 5th when he left
Van persie had a 3 year run from 10/11 to 12/13 that was as good as anything we’ve seen from a striker multiple 20 plus goal scoring seasons, clutch goals won the PFA award, all round performances and carried united to their last ever league title whilst also being technically the best striker in premier league history and he fits Carras criteria for being the best player in the league, winning trophies and being an all round threat he should be on this list
VAN PERSIE HAS ONLY 25 matches and on premier league 2010-2011 and 18 goals. IF HE wasn't injured at that season he would be the top scorer for 3 years in a row. Has anyone else in history achieved this? It's nothing short of stupid that it's not on this list when we're so close to it.

But you have to eventually take the individual out of the team. Salah has been the most consistent player for 7 seasons. Breaking records. And is individually comparable to Henry in terms of Games/Goals/Assist.
If not for having 2 finals against the greatest European team of all time he’d have won 3 CL and if not for the greatest PL team in Peps city, he’d also have 3 Prems.
Drogba scored big goals. Shearer scored many goals. But you can’t argue Salah isn’t an all time great.
Aguero however… in my opinion top 3 striker in Prem history. And not being on the list is a joke!
It did seem like that listening to his reasoning. But to be honest, I think we would all sound like that trying to justify our own selections too. In order for us to come up with a list our mind has to rationalise why someone does not deserve to be higher and also justify why someone does. Most of us would be able to choose our top ten without having to make a 30 minute show about it and having to go into tiny detail about it and without being challenged on our picks.
Give it a rest you tweed... Salah won a ucl, and assists and impact
