I'm glad you mentioned Solanke. The positional impact the guy has on the pitch and his ability to move opponents into non-ideal spots on the pitch id unreal. I wouldn't care if he never scored a goal. He helps the other players get into position and scraps as good as anyone. I love the guy.

The whole team was immense. The four goals were brilliant but the fact City had so much possession in the final third and we didn't buckle was amazing and a blueprint for our future defensive efforts. We will still have bad days as we develop but anyone who isn't really excited about what we can achieve in the next few years is a secret Woolwich fan. C.O.Y.S!

That was incredible. Deki is the best i wouldn't take £150mil for him atm. They couldn't live with him him, Son, Madders and Solanke. Solanke's hold up/link up play was brilliant, too. Loved Davies smashing it, Radu seems to thrive from his experience. Really happy for Werner, too. his ball was amazing after legging it so hard for so long. Love it, love it, love it! Now do that against everyone regardless of level, guys.

Guilty as charged for having voiced disappointment or frustration that Davies is still involved in the playing staff. He is a damn good footballer. We all want the sexy players who are big, strong, quick, athletic etc. Sometimes you just need a guy who knows what he's doing and can keep his head. I could see him managing Spurs in the future, dude is meant to be smart AF.

I am wondering if the narrative on Davies will ever change. Pretty average player most say, but almost always steps up and performs well. So if he always plays excellently, shouldn't that mean he's actually bloody good? He can't possibly be at a level beyond his capabilities every bloody time he plays, so his actual level is very high, he's not playing a blinder every week.
Doesn't mean he'll ever deserve a statue, but whatever the level below that is, I'll sign the petition. He's an all time defensive favorite of mine. I've seen him have a handful of bad games in years. Absolutely love him.

    Hi Ali,
Sarr’s also becoming one of my fav too the way he glides across the field looks effortless & Solanke is another fav who’s contributing in so many ways besides scoring. Davies is the type of player every team needs, no fuss, no nonsense, no frills player the Manager & his teammates know will play his role & get the job done, he adds so much experience on & off the field too which is invaluable for the youngsters in particular who I’m sure he’s mentoring. The Leadership is looking so strong on every line now - Vicario, Davies, Kulu, Madders, Son & Solanke up forward are leading from the front which in turn gives the youngsters coming thru great confidence. I said it earlier in year we are playing as good as any team & the data proves that even before the Man City game but some fans sadly look at the results only & not how Ange is changing the culture, integrating youth, aligning Academy with Senior squad, developing players for sustained success yet some toxic fans still can’t see any of these improvements, trust me Ange will win 🏆 this season & the City game was just the start to launch their relentless supremacy!

I am an aussie, my grandfather was English. he used to tell me, " always kick a man when he is down or he might get up and do you." Kulu sets up Madders and he delivers a Joe Frazier left hook and the champ is rocked. Then madders feeds sonny feeds madders and it is a right cross and the champs knees buckle and he is looking for the bell. End of round and a chance to sit down. 2nd round, Dom sets up Pedro, big hit to the jaw and, it is a knockdown. The champ is on his back, the ref counts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 then Timo sets up Brennan and he kicks the champ in the head while he is still on the canvas and he aint getting up. ring the bell

Hi Ali. The pinnacle of the modern Spurs was that night at Wembley when we destroyed Madrid 3-1. The worlds cameras saw the Poch side come of age. Everything we loved about that team was on display, the arrogance of youth, hunger and a team who knew their time had come. Any Ange team will need to build towards those heights. Admittedly a trophy would top that.

Hey Ali! its Sean here from Brisbane Australia or once was known as Ange Town when he coached the Brisbane Roar back in the day to the promised land! So, as an Australian Spurs fan if you were to ask me what and how "Ange Ball' came about and why its such a unique style of playing in the Premier league (and the Scottish league before that) and has taken time (a season and a half on average) to be adapted into the players psyche physically, mentally and philosophically is totally down to Ange himself. Ange was born in Greece and raised in Melbourne. A city that was and is a very demanding tough city to live. Especially if you play sport. No tougher City anywhere else in the world comes close I don't think. The biggest football code in Melbourne is Australian rules Football. Followed by Soccer that was played by European immigrants & 10 pound 'Poms'!! Which obviously Ange grew up in, and bonded with his hard working often absent father over their shared love of football. I think (and I've never heard anyone else say this not even Ange) That he was heavily influenced by the local Australian rules football He is a huge Carlton Football club fan. It is a very fast very physical always attacking game that requires the players to think on their feet and adapt. The idea is to get the ball to your players always running, going forward attacking and kick goals. Then drop to a defense on the rebound to aggressively get the ball back and attack once again. This requires a level of fitness that is superhuman as the game goes for 100 mins plus stoppage time over 4 quarters in huge arena's such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground. I think what Ange Has done is taken the strengths of Australian Rules football and adapted those things to Football. Australian Rules plays the ball in the air whereas Ange plays the ball down on the pitch (Puskas Philosophy) That's what (I think) Makes Ange’s game and outlook far different to all the other Managers in the EPL. This last game against City it all pretty much came together. It was there for all to see. Against the best side in Premier league history. Ofcourse now we all wait and see how the squad progresses going forward with the self-belief that this style of playing is a winning style and is sustainable long term. I've included the Highlights to prosecute my case from This year’s Australian Rules Football Grand Final Sydney vs Brisbane. Sydney were the favorites to win the game!! Sounds familiar doesn’t it!! th-cam.com/video/d6tkMo2ToZk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-2R-ci34BVJNF-0x

    Hi Alasdair. Hope you're well.
This game could be the turning point for Ange, as a game in his time when he was at Brisbane Roar. That particular game, Ange, knew that the roar finally under what he required, and they then went on a 36-game unbeaten run. It changed the roars season. They went on to win the title .
One hopes that this game is the game that Spurs turn it around.

First 10 minutes looked a bit ominous for us then we just clicked and started playing. Every player deserves credit for that performance and apart from Maddison getting two goals on his birthday, the standout player was Kulusevski who was instrumental in the win and for me he gave a MOTM performance. Vicario made some great saves and seemed more confident coming for crosses. Being without Romero and Van De Ven could have been a problem but Davies and Dragusin played very well together. It was a great day to be a Spurs fan. Nice to see some well deserved praise for Ben Davies!

Thanks, Alasdair for the video. A great performance at the Etihad, one that makes you realise why supporting Spurs really is worth it. Some terrific performances throughout the team. Madders and Deki were awesome up front and at the back Dragusin and Davies were solid as rocks. Ben Davies in particular always seemed to be in the right place at the right time and did not go walkabout like Romero is prone to do. I feel the pair have earned the right to start against Fulham next time out in the PL. Wonderful result & a perfect way to respond to the L against Ipswich, however we’ve been here before we’ve slapped Everton, Villa & Wet spam for 4 then go on to show no consistency….. PRAYING this is the start of a great run of form🤞, but I’m not going to get overly giddy.

Enjoyed the young chap getting in De Bruyne's face too and showing some fire. Sometimes I think Spurs haven't got enough nasty in them and I was glad to see him standing up for himself.

Yep and do you recall when Kudus of West ham decided to hospitalise the whole first team? Sarr gave him some back when he flattened Mickey VDV. We need a few more warriors.

8 hr roundtrip? You are kidding Ali. 1030 at Lee Valley. Got back after midnight on the subsidised bus. Dropped Alex off on my way home which I reached after 1 am. Worth every minute. Ange aced Pep. Team played superbly. COYS

A perfect night really. I won't forget that game even though I wasn't at the stadium. Every player was top, which is really rare.
I was of course worried before the game as Radu and Ben panicked away at Galatasaray where we could have conceded 10 goals, really...
But they were magnificent on Saturday night.
We, Spurs fans, have been suffering a lot for years and years, but on Saturday we were rewarded for our patience and loyalty. That was such an enjoyable evening. I jumped and I jumped in front of the tv 😂.
    Thank you Tottenham. 💙
And now I'm gonna watch this magnificent game again on Spursplay !

What a match. Always felt Spurs could beat City. It was the perfect game for Spurs. Ange going back to his first team line up worked. Sarr and Bissouma really changed things. Maddison being a leader too. Players made chooses of the pitch. Though Radu and Davis were really good. Radu making that pass for the first goal showed players can play long balls if they feel it. Both FBs for Spurs stayed a little deeper , Maddison kept saying to Destiny to get back behind him , this is the system, Perro and Destiny are picking when to go forward ,
Next game against Fulham is big for Spurs. Ange will probably start the same line up. Ange bar is set very high and Ange is now seeing what Player can match it, what players want to be leaders on the pitch and play with no fear.

Absolutely bossed that game. I had low expectations, and I said to my son I just want us to try and match City in effort and commitment and not be embarrassed!! 12 mins in Maddison scores! Then it gets better and better. Hopefully, that's the torch paper lit for the season?!

Finally a quality performance where we kept our shape and defended well. Our goals were exceptional. I could see a plan B within our Plan A today because we looked both solid and fluid. Raghusin and Davis were outstanding at the back . Deki, Son, Solanke and Maddison gave them so many problems. Please THFC don't ruin this great win with a poor performance next week against Fulham. I must admit with injuries and after Bissouma yellow card at 1 minute and Halland miss at 2 minutes I feared a disaster. Yet after 10 minutes wow wow! I love watching Spurs when they play like this. Ben Davies is so underated. I think we have to trust the Ange system

Some fans were dreading the game based on Radu and Davies playing. Personally felt it was a good paring Radu playing in his natural position and Davies is experience and a leader, Also Bissouma really help the back out.
