That was such a cliched music video technique back then: Hey, let's have one of our other songs blasting out of a car radio or something, then we'll segue into the actual song for the video. (See also: Sum 41 "In Too Deep.")
My bf just introduced me to this band. How come I havent heard of them before? They are amazing and totally underrated. I hope they start getting the credit they deserve!
For me I was introduced to this band just from watching clone high and seeing them referenced in the final episode of season 1. I never heard any band that sounded like them so I looked them up and I swear I listened to like 20 of their songs in one sitting. As for why they don’t have much mainstream attention I have no idea, they’re awesome they deserve to have more appeal
wow ... i mean wow ... i saw this right as i was feeling the pain for them .. my favorite band ... his voice is amazing and the lyrics are incredible .. both albums were awesome ... it really does hurt :(
(I'm mainly focusing on the song not the music video) I think this song explores themes of longing, disillusionment, and self-assertion. The protagonist describes being distant ("outta sight around the moon") but promises to return, hinting at a cyclical pattern in their relationship. Despite feeling wronged ("I'm the bark that's to your bite"), they express a willingness to endure and make sacrifices for the other person, perhaps out of love or a sense of duty. The chorus, "You lead me on; I don't need your mercy kiss," suggests a feeling of being manipulated or deceived by the other person. The term "mercy kiss" implies a patronizing or insincere gesture of affection, indicating a desire for genuine connection rather than superficial consolation. The verses also touch on themes of existential questioning and the search for meaning ("I'm in and out of astral plains"), juxtaposed with a sense of confidence and success ("like a quarterback, I score"). However, despite outward achievements, the protagonist feels unfulfilled and unable to find what he truly desires. Overall, I believe the song portrays a complex emotional landscape, exploring the tension between desire, disillusionment, and self-assertion within a relationship.
This stuff should be in the same category as Silversun Pickups. Sounds pretty good. I only knew the one single from them (came out in 2002, played a bunch on late might MTV), but the more I hear of the them it’s starting to grow on me.
Normally, they would have been too drunk to remember any of this, but SOMEONE brought non-alcoholic beer to the party...
That was actually pretty clever
Humanistic released 21 years ago, I literally love all the songs on that album, these songs are SO GREAT AND UNDERATED ❤️❤️
