  • Join me in this video as I preform easy to do maintenance which should be done seasonally on this 2008 Mercury 115HP 4 Stroke EFI (1.7L). I change the engine oil, with 5.3 quarts of Mercury 25w40, the oil filter, and the oil drain plug gasket. I sent this oil off to Blackstone Laboratories for analysis, as I believe this oil is the original oil!! So look for the video with the results! I also use Mercury VesselView in this video which is a great tool too see how your engine is, and helps you keep up with maintenance. Please like this video if it helped you and consider subscribing because you'll never know what we're going to get into next!! Thank you all who have already subscribed and have helped grow the channel!!

    Hey can u do a quick video for this motor showing how to do the gear lube? I have this exact motor on my boat that I just got as my first boat so I could really use some guidance from someone who knows this motor.

      Hey Cory, thanks for watching! I actually am planning on doing a gear lube video very soon! I'd be more than happy to help you with this motor! If you haven't already, check out my video on the float switch. Most of the fuel problems with this engine are because of the float switch. It was known to be defective straight from the factory. Crud can also get into the FSM and cause problems. Once that float switch is replaced, you can't beat this engine!

    Hi Eric. Great video. You mentioned that you would post a different video with the analysis of the oil. I wasn't able to find it. If there isn't a video can you reply what the oil analysis results were? Thanks

      Hey Mark, thanks for watching!! I'm sorry I'm a little behind on videos! I'm currently working on editing the oil analysis video now and hope to have it out sometime this week!!

    I have an 07 115efi. Can you confirm that the “steel eye” is for lifting the motor. It’s right behind the plastic shroud that covers the flywheel. I’ve looked all over the internet for answers. They sell (I bought it) a threaded lifting eye/flywheel puller for some Mercury’s. But, I believe our model (and yours) has it built into the motor.

      I will have to double check but I’m pretty sure it is!

    So, how was the oil quality then after more than a decade?

    • @EricGaskamp
      @EricGaskamp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It actually was not bad! Check out the oil analysis video I did on the oil that came out of this engine! Thank you for watching!

    What Bluetooth app is that? And did that Bluetooth app for the engine come factory? I have a 2007 90efi. I was wondering if I have that setup.

      This is the Mercury Vessel View. It's a module that hooks inline with your wiring harness. Its just plug and play. Then you download the app which connects to the module. Its great for monitoring everything and keeping up with maintenance!

    Have you ever had any issues with blowing a 15 amp fuse all the time.

      No I have not had that issue. How often is your doing it?

    • @thomascorrea3937
      @thomascorrea3937 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricGaskamp it was happening when you tried to start the motor. I have a new ignition switch. Today I worked on the negative side of the battery and now I can't get it to blow a fuse. Not that I want it to happen, I just don't want to be broke down on the water for 3 hours like last week . Outboard 115 4 stroke efi. If you have any information it will be highly appreciated.
