    Great info, thanks for making the app understandable. I have a 2020 502 Mag. It took me a while to find the plugin on the engine. Look under the air intake filter. Pop the cover off and fish around under the filter you will find the yellow cap there. Thanks again for taking the time to show how the app works

    Just subscribed. I'm here in Murfreesboro getting ready to look at used boat tomorrow. I took my vessel view module off my boat at home to put on the boat tomorrow before I take it out for a test run. I'm glad I have it.

    Awesome video thanks for that. I am been frustrated with the analog gauges for so long and now some of them are failing. This is the way forward, replace all the gauges with a brand new iPad PRO.

    This is an excellent video on Vessel View! Until now I wondered why I even bought it. There was nothing out there to explain how to set it up and use. Not even the Mercury reps at the boat show could. I have this saved and will refer to it many times Im sure. Thank You and I have subscribed... Dave R

    VesselView Mobile has been an excellent data source for the functioning of the Mercury outboard. Thank you for putting this video out there.
    There will be screen burn from having the app open all the time, so I have an old smartphone mounted on the dash that is used for this app, the Victron app for the shunt on the trolling motor battery, and downloaded music. However, I have a few frustrations:
    1. It would be nice if there was a way of adding separate notes that didn't relate to their regular maintenance green/red circle replace/check options. For example, recording just an alternator change with the engine hours and date. I've sent a suggestion about this to Mercury, but crickets came back on that.
    2. The price. This thing costs $320ish in Canada, and two have already failed - each just outside the warranty period. This has been one every boating season and so I've paid $1,000 for this functionality (the third has lasted a couple of seasons now). These engines are expensive, and I feel that being able to keep an eye on what's going on with it shouldn't be an extra profit feature for Mercury.

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, the information at hand is amazing. That’s a good idea on the other maintenance logging as well, it would be nice.
      Man, hate to hear you’ve had such bad luck with yours. Knock on wood, ours has been rock solid.
      Hope you can get it settled with them and keep one working long term.
      Thanks for watching

    Ordered one tonight, but I'm confused on one thing....does the ECM report how many gallons are in the tank automatically upon connection? Or, do we have to manually guess by reporting on the app the next time we add fuel? For example, if I have under a 1/4 tank according to my analog gauge and I later add 10 gallons, that's still estimating my total fuel rather than the computer telling me EXACTLY how many gallons remain in total after my fuel add. I read the Mercruiser website and it talks about using averages and then the app estimating how much fuel is left BASED upon what we input into the app. I hope I'm wrong, but this fuel part seems a bit crude in design. The whole point of SmartCraft is to allow the ECM to provide advanced data in real time, is it not? BTW....great video and I'm NOT complaining to you directly....just asking questions that I hope you can address:)

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, glad you liked the video. Believe me, I get it. With my boat, I have to manually enter the fuel into the VV app. That being said, I do believe you can re-wire it to read from the tank. I talked with Mercruiser, about that, and I’m pretty sure I recall them telling me with a wiring change, VV will read as your fuel gauge. Don’t quote me on that but I’m pretty certain that’s what I was told. It all depends on the sensors that your boat is equipped with from the factory.
      I think you’ll really enjoy the peace of mind VV gives you while on the water.

    Thanks Joe. Will the Bluetooth interface with a chart plotter like the nema2000 connection, since they both have Bluetooth? Obviously the plotter won't run the app.
    I would prefer to use the Smartcraft Bluetooth over nema because I would have more capabilities on my tablet with Vessel View as a secondary system for lower cost. I realize this one may be out of your wheelhouse. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I understand what you’re asking and with some additional hardware, you can have both. You can have the SmartCraft info on your NEMA2000 device AND you can also have it on Bluetooth. You’d need the NEMA bridge to translate SmartCraft language into NEMA2000 protocol and then a junction block, which would allow you to still have your BT VesselView mobile active as well. Essentially you’ll be hard wired into the boats ECM, for the NEMA stuff and then the VesselView mobile will be plugged in to the junction block and transmitting BT info. A very solid redundant system. Plus running hardwired to gauges or another device does give you a bit more functionality.
      It’s a bit pricey but, it can be done. Contact Mercruiser directly and they can send you all the info necessary. It’s what I’m planning on doing when I upgrade my nav unit.

      If the Garmin accepts NMEA2000 it will with a few pieces of hardware. You’d need the bridge from Mercruiser to translate the VesselView protocol into NMEA2000 protocol. Then you’ll need the cable to run to the Garmin
      Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

    great video, I'm having an issue, the engine cuts out for a second on full throttle, it's like someone turned the key off and then back on. it doesn't stall and continues to run. the boat was running fine put away for the season and it started doing it. gave it a complete tune up. added water treatment and it still does it. I have a sea ray 250 Sundancer. mercruser 5.7 efi.. does this app measure fuel psi? and do you have any input what my problem might be? thanks

      Wow, that sounds frustrating. Unfortunately I have no idea as to what the issue is with your boat. That’s a head scratcher. I don’t recall totally but I do believe, as long as your boat has the sensor installed, that VV shows fuel pressure. Hope that helps. Good luck and report back, I’d love to hear what’s causing the issue.

      @@adayinthislife4545 thanks for responding, my guess it’s ether water in fuel ,a dirty fuel line or a fuel pump. Many of my friends said it sounds like water. I have trouble shot everything even the engine cut off switch. That’s what’s it does.it’s like someone hits the switch for a second. So frustrating especially when I have so much knowledge. I’ll keep you posted

      Yeah water could definitely do it or it may be vapor locking? Definitely keep me posted, this is very curious for sure

      Wow, bet that’s frustrating. Is it mounted where it can get lots of electrical interference? How far away is it from your phone/tablet? I’m guessing it’s getting interference. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

    My vessel view kept disconnecting and trying to connect. It only stayed connected for a little then it disconnect again. I was also using a Bluetooth speaker at the same time with my phone. Could it be possible both the Vessel View and the speaker were competing with each other which may explain why it kept disconnecting? Has that happened to anyone else?

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That must be frustrating. I’ve not had any issues with connectivity so I’m not sure. I’d definitely contact Mercruiser and see what they have to say. Sorry I wasn’t more help. Thanks for watching

    I got a new android phone but I can't get my vessel view to reconnect to it what am I doing wrong?

      First, thanks for watching.
      I don’t know much, anything really, about android but I’d guess Bluetooth operates similar to the iPhone.
      I’m assuming you have it installed and your motor is SmartCraft capable. With that assumption, do you have the key on? Are the indicator lights illuminated on the VesselView dongle?

      Thanks for the reply. I ended up unplugging the connection and reconnecting it then I was able to connect to it with my new phone

    So it’s no more than the smart gauge

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know the smart gauge and VV Mobile are very similar in their capabilities. Full blown vessel view via smartcraft screens has more info but it appears that the VV mobile was a simple way to add the smartcraft info without replacing gauges and for less $$.

    Work only on cheap engines. Mercury 250hp will not work with it.

      Works on any Mercruiser with smart craft capabilities. I certainly wouldn’t call the Verado or my 6.2 a cheap engine.

    Can the vessel view be set to metric?

    • @adayinthislife4545
      @adayinthislife4545  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes it can. When in the app, go to top left 3 bars and click on it. Scroll to bottom and select settings. From there you can select unit of measurement or change the individual options independently. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
