      @@SOUNDSTORK cheers mate. I did do that on some other ones but this was really for the purposes of the Amazon review just to show what it can do.
      I’ll probably do a more exciting one sometime with the LS-P5 too.

    Love the sounds. I have an l s p 4 which has voice guidance. Does the L s p 5 have this feature?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mr500music Hi mate. Thanks for the question. I believe the voice guidance feature has been removed from the LS-P5 unfortunately. I’m sad to see that and I’m not sure why they have done that as I imagine it’s hugely helpful (or even crucial) for a lot of people. It’s a shame they took it out of the LSp5.
      Still, the LSP4 is great too - it must be frustrating that the voice guidance has been removed from the latest model though.

    What are your thoughts on the pre amps for quieter environments? Noisy?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dudemetoo2053 oh yeah definitely pretty noisy I’d say. Its not the worst I’ve had for self noise, but I wouldn’t recommend it with the inbuilt mics for quiet sources. If you used some external mics via the 3.5mm jack with PIP like the Clippy EM272’s you get much better signal to noise ratio and that may be the best option.

  • @psydoc2871
    @psydoc2871 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There are some complaint about the internal noise in the mics, increasing with an increase in gain levels. Any comments on that?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@psydoc2871 I would say that’s probably the case. It doesn’t have an amazing signal to noise ratio so it’s probably better suited to louder sound sources where you don’t have to boost much in post.

      Many thanks for a prompt reply. I am looking to choose between this and Sony A10. Have you done a comparison?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ I never did a direct comparison between the two - but I no longer have my LS-P5 and I still have my Sony A10. They are both pretty good, but my preference was the A10 to be honest of the two. The A10 isn’t amazing self noise either, but I do think it’s slightly better than the P5. Plus you can alter the microphone positions on the A10 - so that’s is another bonus over the P5 - at least in my mind.

    • @psydoc2871
      @psydoc2871 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t thank you enough for your prompt responses. Do you think if there is a unit better than A10 in the same size? Secondly I want to use it for dictation as well. Do you think it would work with that, given its small speaker size?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ no problem at all mate. I just had a look through some old videos and the Sony A10 and LS-P5 both featured in this “shoot out” thing I did a while back at a river. This may be helpful to you possibly.

    Hi! For that purpose X6, H1E essential or that Olympus?

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. I have all of these and they all have their pro's and cons. I think my favourite overall of the three personally is the X6. The H1E and Olympus are great too, but there are a lot more features and inputs available on the X6 so you have more options overall.
      Regardless though, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them really.
      Hope that helps.

      @@EQAVOX thanks, so overall internal mic qualiy is better on the X6 VS olympus?
      On my country :
      Tascam x8 450€
      X6, 350€.
      Olympus (offer) 140€.
      Zoom H3 220€.
      Zoom H1E 100€.
      I only want a recorder to record nature.

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LandsPlanes to my ears the X6 seems to have the edge slightly with its inbuilt microphones.
      I did a shootout of various recorders I own a while back where I used them to record a river to compare the inbuilt microphones. The X6 stood out to me personally, but sound is completely subjective and what sounds good to me may be different for somebody else and that’s totally fine.
      Here is the little shootout video if you are on instagram and want to check them out for yourself. I’d recommend headphones / earphones so you can hear the difference between the inbuilt mics.

      @@LandsPlanes from the 3 you are looking at - I would say 1. Tascam X6, 2. Zoom H1E and 3. OM Systems LS-P5.
      The X6 and H1E also have the benefit of being 32-bit so it’s almost impossible to get clipping in a recording.

    Could have picked up that crisps packet and done some ASMR while you were at it :O)
    And! Oi... Water danger!!! Mind for flash floods
    Sheep could have been better with some binaural to put you in the field with them, just my opinion of course.
    And what are you doing with the recorder so low and NOT monitoring what you are recording? That's a despicable recordists sin!

    • @EQAVOX
      @EQAVOX  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I could have done. I did pick it up and remove it I have to say - can’t stand littering.
      I don’t think there was any range of flash floods 😂thankfully.
      You are totally right - the SR3D would have been sensational in the sheep’s field. For this one though I was just focusing on the inbuilt mics as this is really for my Amazon review to show what it’s capable of “out of the box”. I may pair it with the SR3D one day too - I’m curious. Same with the clippys.
      I did monitor the audio before recording to set levels etc. the cable kept hitting the recorder due to wind though so I didn’t bother monitoring whilst recording for some of them as the cable strikes were ruining the audio. 😅

      @@EQAVOX yes from what I understand, a great recordist is an excellent listener, even with madness going on they can defocus on the madness and hear stuff only true real listeners can pickup!
      Water and you is a bad combo, but I recon you’ve learned an important lesson there and were very lucky to be honest.
      Glad you are mindful of the environment and all of the conscious beings that also share this wonderful planet we’re on.
      I’ve picked up a new device that I think I will try out on you if you ever manage to make it over, there’s lots of learning to do from me first in regard to using it, and editing the files in 3D software to make it work, but I think if I can master it, you’d be a perfect candidate to be worthy of using it, though, you’d have to be brave too, or, lots of confidence and courage to use it in public 💪👍🤔
