My 2 cents, it's come to the point where there are more eBikers complaining about "people hating on eBikes" than people actually complaining about eBikes. For every 1 rider I encounter that complains about ebikes, I encounter 20 people on eBikes explaining in details why they use an eBike like they have something to prove. Just ride your bikes/ebikes guys.

I like how you came around to just talk sense to your viewers. There's no need to divide the MTB community just because of what bikes people choose to ride. If it gets more people out riding the trials, and enjoying the outdoors, the better.
I'm 40 and will be picking up my first eMTB in March, and I had varying reasons for choosing to get one, with cost being a big factor making me check I was doing this for all the right reasons. I'll still be keeping my normal MTB for times when we ride with other friends not on eMTB's and when we're riding smaller trail networks that are technical and don't take more than 2 hours to fully ride the loop. Prior to making the final decision I rented an eMTB with a friend at a bike park. We got to enjoy a full 6 hours on the trails, compared to 2-3 hours on our normal bikes.
The main reason for getting one is for full day rides. Our local trail networks are rather limited (Ottawa doesn't have nearly the same quantity/quality of trail networks as BC does in the Fraser Valley). So, we tend to look to head North and South East of Montreal for some great riding spots, but that's a 2-3 hour drive. If I'm the car for 4-6 hours round trip, I want to maximize my actual ride time, and the eMTB does just that.
Back to the costs point, yeah the pricing is ridiculous. I can buy a Honda CRF250 for what I paid for my eMTB (Specialized Levo Comp Alloy), and that's after a 30% discount on the Levo! It was a real mental gymnastics hurdle to get over the sticker shock once I started researching eMTB's.
In the end, enjoy what you ride.

I got an e bike because I wanted to take a week long vacation and go hard every day of the vacation. ended up with 135 miles and 30,000 feet of climbing in 5 days of mountain biking.

I bought a used 2022 Giant E-Reign last year and used it on the north shore for a couple months before selling. It was fun but after my experience I'm happy to stick with the acoustic bike for the time being. After riding a 35lb carbon enduro bike it feels like riding a tank on the steep downhills on the e-bike and it was not as fun a my regular bike being not as poppy and playful. Also, while you still get some exercise, I have to say it's nowhere near the same thing as climbing on a normal mtb. Some people might not care about that but lets at least be honest; you will not reach the edge of your lung capacity or cardio ability. I like that feeling after a tough ride of feeling drained. I'm sure I'll get another e-bike at some point; they have their place but I'll stick with leg power for now.

I had an ebike and have friends who have ebikes. Personally I did not like the feel of the bike as it is too heavy and you need way bigger brakes on an ebike than on a bike.
It didn't just feel too heavy but also the delivered power was uncontrolled - unless I ran it at the lowest support level - which pretty much defeats the purpose.
With the motor being so powerfull and the bike was tuned for a intermediat customer ( I am just guessing here) as there was too little support and the chassis was super unstable. Dial up the LSC and have a harsh ride? Not a great solution either.
So climbing was great until you needed to make a power move that pushed the weight so far back that it was easy to loose the front and also get too deep into the travel - which then would spring up again when you let of the power to be able to make a move over a big rock/log or whatever and something I never got used to. The timing always felt hard to predict.
I bet that if I the tune was firmer and the AS was higher - which would need an idler to mitigate the AS on the descent - it would feel so mich better.
It might be a "getting used to it" thing. I had 2 other bikes at the same time and it was kinda hard to want to use the e bike for anything but big rides. Mostly because the fact that I do not have huge mountains near me and all the trails we ride here are just natural twisty trails that will be more fun on a nimble bike than a big bruiser.
So I am a bit conflicted on the whole e bike or no e bike as the ebike does not feel as good as my bike does. But my bike does not fly up the hill like an ebike does. Wo what do I want? Well I think I really want both 🤣🤣 But if I had to choose I'd rather have my bike for the awesome feel it delivers - rather than getting a few more laps in. I mean I live in a place where we have a few areas to rinde in but the nice trails are few and far between. If I only had an ebike the "wear-out-effect" of said nice trails would kick in way faster than it does now. That's how I felt when I had the ebike, at least. That why I always rode further and further away from home - just to find more stuff to ride.... maybe a gravel bike is a better option then....and E-Gravel bike 🤣🤣
What I would want is a e bike that supprts me like 20% on the climbs so I can be a bit faster but feel exactly like my current bike on the way down. Like add a single kilo or two - that's ok...don't add 7kg.

I am going to guess ebike messengers and kids buying from shoddy amazon sellers traumatized them. Else it can only be explained as inner jealousy. But on mountain/gravel trails I've seen nothing but decent eMTBs ridden by well-mannered people.
Only thing that puts me off is the weight; can't carry it upstairs easily without elevator. I also hear it makes ride different as weight distribution changes. But I've checked out Trek Fuel EXe and it is lighter than I thought! But I can't afford it, so basically weight and price are two big concerns.

I bought a levo turbo alloy for my son and I used for a couple of rides since he didn't want to have anything to do with it, too big too heavy (probably too dorky), I really enjoyed the experience for climbing but almost no trails are suited for it were I live and at the price we paid I couldn't keep it for the occasional rides up north... All in all I wouldn't enjoy doing the trails I do with it but maybe in a different location I'd see the value.
That guy you met at the end proves the point that when I'll be older I'll probably buy another one 😂

I look at the ebike as a training tool. On an analog ride, I’m at 160-170 avg bpm HR. Riding several days in a row gets me exhausted. It’s nice to add in an ebike day or 2 per week. I can keep my HR to 140 or below and still go fast and have fun on the ebike. It just means more riding, and that is never bad.

HI! I have a analog Canyon Neuron 7 2018 and 2023 got my eMTB NOX Hybrid 7.1 Enduro. Both are so much fun. I always have the same burn in my legs and the same heart rate.... If I ride to work, it just takes 10 minutes more.... for that short 9 km to and fro.... But, because of my endurance, I am 47 now, I choose to take the ebike, if I want to drive the other 14 km to the bike park AFTER work, and making 4-6 rounds there before going back home...(around 50 km and 700 hm) spending another 3 h on the bike. If I would have the time, I could go with the analog... but then the round trip and my 140 W ave. over that period, wouldnt allow me to work.... Its really the ave. tempo. that I cannot achieve with the analog..... or push my W higer, coundnt sustain that for long... so I'd rather have more experience and learning skills, than just train for endurance... My Specialized Sirrus cyclocross, 20 mm tires, roadbike with narrow straight bars, I use, if friends and I go on the road next Danube River to have a nice day out.... and its really fast this bike... or for short trips to the shop, but I got into mountainbiking and enjoy trodding along the roots and stones a bit more.... cu. nice holidays and times to you all

Not an Ebikers myself, but rode one a little. Have to say that it changes the way you ride and percieve the terrain. Can be used as a really good fun machine, but I'd keep a regular bike anyway. Fitnesswise it is easier to do training on a road bike , so you can just have different bikes for different purposes.
The feeling of conquering the climb is simply not there on an Ebike and not a single person will forget to remind you of the fact that you didn't do it yourself. But at the same time, I'm not a pro and mostly do it for fun. Ain't nobody paying me to ride a bike, so if I were riding an Ebike, why should I care what some random dude thinks?

As my years catch up on me, I'll most definitely get an e-bike. If I move outside of town and have to make daily trips ( I also live up in the mountains ), I'll get one much more sooner, unless they're still much more expensive than a gasoline-petrol-benzine burning loud dirtbike. I hope more people start riding e-bikes and bikes in general. Any exercise and outside time is better than not doing any of it. And I'd also love to see the competition, you know, compete more, and see things get cheaper, better and more available. I don't need any of that gatekeeping B.S.

Is your downhill bike like your other bikes? N+1, I have a Levo turbo, Levo SL, DH rig, XC hardtail, Enduro, trailbike. Each is different, the emtb's are outdoor trainers and each of them makes me faster on my regular bike. My downhill bike makes me faster on my enduro bike and trail bike.
No, they aren't the same and what you get from each is different. Try riding an emtb not like an mtb but like an emtb and suddenly you are riding 14+ and getting a MUCH different experience particularly in the upper body as you row/antirow faster at the new trail speed. Still cadence is king on all these bikes except DH and spinning up the emtb makes it the trainer you ride through the woods and not in the gym.

My advice to everyone is: keep your normal bike and ride it for fun AND fitness. Ride your e-bike for fun and repeat laps. I have no shuttle around me, so the ebike is a shuttle tool for me.
ps: e-bike is good cardio when you push laps for 2-3 hours. But it is not going to give you climbing strength. No matter what the middle age guys with bellies say. E-bikes are NOT the same workout.

And honestly, I would MUCH rather someone like Metallier's honest anf forthright presentation where he tells you he is sponsored than some sort of subliminal messaging, which is far more insidious and dangerous on a social level. I am not going to pimp for or against ebikes here, but this is SOOOO clearly straight up opinion based hating its almost ridiculous. It’s honestly hard to tell if it’s a joke or not. Unlike my video that’s purely filled with hard facts, objective truth and no outrageous claims at all.

@@Frorideism you gotta be smokin some serious stuff to say that. from how bad you feel, which a purely personal thing and not objective, by definition, to subliminal messaging is somehow better than honest open presentations. Just your comments on how ugly they are, really, have you looked at bikes like the Heckler, Wild, Ekano? those are some beautiful bikes, objectively. and, maybe its just where you live, which of course is SUBJECTIVE and not objective, since when are e mountain bikers desperate to be accepted by analog mountain bikers? I mean really, where I live, I don't see that at all. People just ride what they got and who cares. There is literally not one thing I can find in your video which is truly objective fact, nothing. It is, in it's entierety subjective feelings. It is obvious when the ebiker passes you that you get angry, why?? What skin is off your nose? ride for you instead of others and maybe you'll change your feelings, not saying you'll jump on an ebike, just stop with the obvious subjective hating. Of course, I am not going to go into detail about your price complaints as of course you only show the most expensive model you can as if that's what all emtb's cost, but I notioce your bike is pretty nicely kitted out. Hope Tech 4 brakes, not cheap. I'm gonna bet your not running a RS Silver fork on that, what at looks like is a carbon propain (also not cheap), so no doubt that was not cheap either. I totally get complaining about prices, but objectively ALL bikes are over priced, not just ebikes. I could post a dozen pics of standard bikes that are close to the one you showed in price. So again, you clearly lack actual objectivity. Like I said, before, if you want to complain about ebikes, that's your right, but at least have the courage of your convictions to honestly admit that your feelings are just that, feelings and not objective facts.

@@Tony_Karzen But dude, my feelings are facts and people need to adapt to them.🥸
      In other news:
This is amazing, and I'm gonna help you out ok - even though I don't really want to break the 4th wall and go out of character:
I love that you put so much detail into your comments, like actually breaking down the conversation and the outrageous claims and things said in the video,
You're actually the first person to call it out,
And it's hilarious to see how someone would react if they believed that everything I said was 100% serious and actual arguments for the cause. So thank you for that. 😆
In other words, It's literally a joke my man, hinted at it in the previous comment ❤
And if you'd watch the end of the video you'd see how it lands with a teaching of openness and understanding..
..So I'm more or less exactly like the great Buddha, spreading love and peacefulness, although he did hate a lot on E-bikes in his later work.
      Happy holidays

The real problem I think we need to address is how similar the E-bikes are starting to look compared to REAL bikes, and how that can lead to confusion for average bikers. I think the ultimate solution is E-bikers have to wear an armband so we can easily identify them. Once we can easily identify them, we can properly ostracize them, and then later on we can take thier E-bikes, because it will be different when we want one.
Also, 26” ain’t dead, still have them on my pump track bike. All other bikes are full 29rs.
Also, will buy an e-bike one day. Not really a money issue, I spent more on bikes last year than an S-works turbo Levo carbon costs. I’m just waiting for the technical progress to slow a little so my 19k bike isn’t a 6k bike in 12 months, but I’m 43 years old and broken so it’s only a matter of time.

We could possibly let the E-bikers build their own society within the confines of a small geographical area, it wouldn't induce any sort of future conflict I'm sure.

the reason- I can buy a dirt bike for 1/2 the cost. a Sur Ron is less...its called ass envy- some people are willing to spend the money others are not.

      Decent argument yeah,
I bought an older Honda 250x dirtbike for 1,2k, that thing is a blast to ride, albeit have to maintain it like crazy and can't ride it everywhere like a bike
