Lovely, as usual. You speak so much about how dark it gets in Sweden during the winter, it might be cool if you made a video at night with nothing but your indoor lights and candles for illumination. You don't even need to do anything. Just some of your beautiful camera work accompanied by some peaceful music. Sort of a minimalistic "yule log."
I live in the U.S. and the holiday season here is so EXTRA. As a minimalist myself, it is such a relief to watch your videos and see that I'm not alone hahaha. Happy holidays, Benita!
I know it’s like each street is a competition for who has more money for constant decorations and lights on all night. Nothing is just simple and elegant. It’s all over the top. It’s awful. And I don’t know what any of it really has to do with the holiday...
Usually I prefer a minimalist approach but when it comes to Christmas, all bets are off! I love all the decorations but am too lazy to do much myself - I would hate having to take all that down after the holiday is over. But I do still appreciate others' efforts. My partner and I go for walks most nights around the neighborhood - when we find a really over the top one, we'll look at each other and say 'wow. now that's commitment!" It's become one of our catch phrases. :)
I love this simple decor. I find it so much more pleasing to look at than some of the whole house decorating with multiple trees, seasonal cushions and linens etc.
This video makes me happy! When we moved to California I left all Christmas decoration Europe. Here we have socks for everyone and green fir tee branches in the vase with Maileg mouses my daughters were playing with before. Couple of Nutcrackers. I also bought white paper light stars from Ikea to windows. And lot's of candles. This year I'm going to make some sort of Himmeli too. I make natural crafts with Middle School kids and this week I teach them how to do basic Himmeli so I will have some for my self too.
You are a true inspiration Benita 🧡 As a Greek who lives in Norway, the dark season is something I will never get used too. Home is where we spend most of our time and the minimalistic decorations and lifestyle you “teach” us is helping me to create a cozy nest for me and my Greek-Norwegian family. Please keep up og God Jul til deg og dine 🙏🏻
I have been looking forward to a new Christmas decorating video from you after enjoying last years so much. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas & New Year x
I'm going to take that idea about placing the ever green pine branches on the empty pots , to looks more happy than the dirt pots . thank u I like all ur ideas
I feel the same way about overhead lights. I tried to make your count down candle but can’t get my marker to write on the candle. Love your videos I hope to have a very white apartment with minimalist decor someday.
I usually do not decorate as I go off to visit my grandkids in Maine, but of course not this year. I love these ideas and now am inspired to make an effort just for me. The kids will see it on zoom. And PS my mum is 92 ... 😉🎄
Yes! For me the lights are also the most important part. Throughout winter I find myself moving around the house from little pool of light to another little pool of light!
I’m having a rough day, needed to cheer myself up. I went back to watch the past Christmas videos. Thank you Benita❤ 😊I love your content so much. Your calm voice, music & images are just what I needed. 🕯️ 🌟🤍
We all know what too much Christmas looks like. And not enough, or zero Christmas. But it's tough to know what just enough Christmas looks like when every advertiser is hoping to sell you more. However, this seems right for you. Very nice to watch. Thank you. And Merry Christmas.
Last month I got down all the boxes of Christmas decorations. I decided that this year I was going to finish sorting what I wanted to keep and what was going to be thrifted. I'm now down to two book boxes (small boxes). I bought a real pine wreath for the front door and decorated the inside of the house with a few decorations. I used Winter flowers and colors so I could leave them up through January if I want to. If I'm missing all the colorful lights, my husband and I drive through the neighborhoods to admire the Christmas outside lights and decorating. This year the U.S. seems to be decorating even more than usual because of a rough and long 2020. By the way, I love your Christmas decorating!
I have a 1ft fake looks real tree thats been with me for 30+ yrs...a tiny string of lights is all it has and this year since I am living alone in a sudio apt my tony tree sits on a small tiny table and I have a warm soft holiday blanket I use when im reading on my rocking chair...that is it for my holiday spirit 💜
Fantastic! I think living a Christmas in the Nordic countries is wonderful. You made some minimal but beautiful and easy to do decorations. The atmosphere, the lights create something magical. Great video. Even in Italy it is decorated for the holidays but the call of the north is special. Kisses from Italy.
The wooden bead ornaments look really nice! I think I will borrow that idea and maybe add some details with a white marker. It's refreshing to watch your calm minimalist videos in a time when we're all bombarded with the constant "buy! buy! buy!" leading up to christmas.
I’ve also made pomanders (oranges stuck with cloves) after watching your video from last Christmas. It reminded me of making them when I was young and the smell is so Christmassy. Thank you for reigniting that memory.
I have so many things to learn from you. I love how you make things simple but magical. Really enjoy the video. Thank you for sharing. Sending my love, stay safe.✨🎄
It is so very lovely. I am into minimalist lifestyle, too. But what I can say, after living currently in house number 16 of my life it is that it is way much easier one to be minimalist if you have extra storage space(basement etc.). Just to "hide away"those 2-3 boxes extra, especially if you live with the small kids.I really miss that in my apartment here in Madrid🙂. Have a nice holidays !!! Big hug from Spain.🎄

Benita I am moving to a new home in a new country in two weeks time and I am utterly horrified at how much stuff I have accumulated over 20 years of living in one place ! I’m throwing out almost everything and starting from scratch and I’m going minimalist ....you’re my inspiration ! I have come to a point in my life where I’m finding “ stuff” suffocating and I am now heading down a more calm and quiet route . I LOVE your home and your simple Christmas traditions ❤️
Sensible to minimalize your possessions, it brings a feeling of lightness. We downsized to a much smaller home and reduced our household items and don't miss them at all. Benita's videos are a great guide to taking this step.
So nice Benita, simple and well done, soft and cosy love your style, home and this idea to put water on natural crown to get it the form you need was a good one I keep it. On summer I did the same but bigger with the peace and love in the center on put it on a nice place outside on my house in the yard. Love that have a nice holiday season even if it’s different this year thank’s for all peace you communicate in yours videos big hug
Watching this from the Southern hemisphere where our days are getting longer! I love having lights but with the sunrise before 6am and sunset after 8:30pm we only get to see them briefly each day. It doesn't stop me from using them though :) I'm going to make some of those bead decorations today I think, as I have the beads and string already. Thanks for the idea and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones from Australia
I love everything you do especially your Christmas decor!! Very beautiful & classic!! Love the wood beads on the tiny tree & of course all of the white lights!! Such a cozy holiday home.... Great hearing from you.. ❤️
I love your decoration minimal and decorative - a very calming video. I also try not to decorate that much with kids it gets more ... have a nice time in Sweden, greetings from the north of Germany.
Lovely to have another video from you. I have caught up with them all now I think & absolutely love them. Please keep them coming they are so relaxing & your apartment is a joy to see!
Here in northern Iceland we get about 4 hours light these days, from about 11 to 15 but we have quite a bit of snow so that lightens things up. Love your video as usual 😄 God jul 🎄
Very nice Benita, it looks beautiful, thank you. My Christmas spirit is just in small details like candles, pine cones that I find in the forest, tiny lights and the fireplace😊. My sweet husband gives me "The Matas Kalender" with everything for beauty and wellness, belongs to the same famous danish brand 🥰...Yes, I'm lucky and that's all I need for Christmas to keep the warmth in my heart and at home.
