It’s time for a whole apartment declutter! You might be surprised at how much stuff has accumulated in my minimalist life since I decluttered last.

This was sooooo satisfying to watch! My favourite part of decluttering is finding people who will be happy receiving a thing I'm getting rid of. Recently I found a new owner for a beautiful trenchcoat that hung in my wardrobe unloved. I'm so happy to let it go.

There's a Good Will around the corner; they work so hard there to present the donated clothing in an attractive way so people can not only see it, but feel good about purchasing. It's these small acts that make such a big difference.

Yes, I don't see it that way either. But many others, I think.
I always like, when I get a bag of decluttered stuff to look through. Sometimes I take 2 or 3 items, sometimes nothing..
I think, everybody could offer, what he has leftover, and the one offered does have the oportunity to say "no, thank you" at any time.
But I think, many people are like "if it's not "good enough" for you, why should it be good enough for me?" and refuse it.. Even since all of that has nothing to do with it. They have an other lifestyle and therefor _of course_ need other stuff. Or colour. Or size.. But they are not able to see it like that.
It's a matter of ego/pride, I think..
And as I say, a pity.
@@FrogeniusW.G. It May just be the sign of a low self-esteem. And it May also be a reaction to the giver's mindset and attitude. Pity or compassion ?
The greater winner may not be the one who recieves.
The ego of the giver may spoil the win/win transaction.
I have been on a purging binge myself. I have taken probably five full carloads of items to the thrift stores. You might say I have hit the wall and am really going whole hog on minimalism. I'm at an age where even your average household of items is too much for me now and so watching your channel has really inspired me to continue my new life and know what I have been doing is making me happy and is so worth it.

How I wish I had access to a recycling room like you have, it’s such a useful resource. Disposing of my decluttered goods is always such a long-winded performance here and though we do have recycling collections for some items, there are others such as fabric recycling that there is no local provision for. There is a limit to the number of rag cloths, buttons and zips one might wish to store in one’s minimalist home. Thank you for suggesting June’s journey, I have been considering trying it for some time now so with your recommendation I will get on and download it and give it a go. I doubt I will catch up with you though.

Do you have a H&M where you live? They take clothes and fabric for recycling.
Is there a Buy Nothing group in your area? If there's anything I can't donate I usually offer it there. I'm not a crafter myself but a lot of people are happy to add to their stashes!
Could take them to schools or tafe, some do sewing classes or checkout a council near you? Xx

I am at the beginning so have quite a ways to go but it is a process and I respect that. I am 53yo living in Oz, recently returned to Sydney from country for work and it is my opportunity to dramatically reduce, reuse, and recycle in preparation for a pared down and fuller life.
After our recent lockdown here I have finally found a small apartment and been able to move everything out of storage again. I have had to store my belongings a few times over the years and I have avowed that this is the last time - it is the last time in my life that I will 'do' my life like this: moving around and renting tiny apartments that I can only just fit all of my possessions in, while paying off someone else's mortgage and just making ends meet.. I am slowly unpacking and literally sifting, sorting, and donating as I go.
I am excited by the prospect of entering my later years doing something completely different and more fulfilling, but I'm still in the process of making some major decisions. I am deciding if a tiny house, an rv (or converted bus) is the way to go. It is difficult for me because I inherited both of my parent's belongings and so I will reduce my own excess first.
You are so inspiring and I am loving each episode that I come across - I am now following with keen interest. I appreciate your common sense and logical approach and I suspect that this will be the best way for me to approach everything also. Thank you! Happy New Year 2022 from Oz 🎆🍾💮

I’m about 75% finished with my whole apartment decluttering project and am always amazed at how much more I enjoy the things I own when I only have what I use and need. Enjoy your freshly edited space!

Can I say how surprised I was to see your storage room looking disordered? I always love watching the re-organising of your cluttered spaces. Then the recycling process. Oh how I wish we had this system!
It’s not normal for it to look like that but it’s more satisfying to clean it up when it does get to that state!😅
I was surprised to see "my beloved" parrot lamps in the storage room. I guess there is a time and season for everything. You must have gotten a bit tired of them.

I liked the leggings too!
They are really old and lost their elasticity which is why they’re loose around the ankles so they’re being decluttered next 😅. They’re from a local shop, Indiska.

White (or light coloured) cotton shirts & clothes can be dyed.
I always do that with clothes, that I like in shape, size and material, but not in colour..
So I do for my kids. Pink dresses get blue dye and become purple, grey & white become blue and so on.
Sometimes I even go fancywith yellow or green.

I dye things all the time if they’re still in good condition. When not I recycle them 😊

Great video! I fell in the Kaftan lifestyle dress and then went to satin things neither worked fir me so I gave to few people that were so grateful and will look great on them hundreds of $ just thought I could pull off the Halston look which with my former fisherman sandals I looked like Jesus giving a sermon on the mount. Oh well live snd learn I guess I am not alone on this. I love my minimalist life and love watching your decluttering process. Hugs xoxo

I have been playing June’s Journey for a while. It’s a fun game. I am on Chapter 34. I really like the community recycling area where shelves are provided. Great idea.

I was so surprised, in a good way, by how much you managed to declutter! I love your videos 😍, they always inspire me to do a declutter. I'm currently not living in my apartment as we are doing a huge and very messy renovation, but my 6 year old daughter just got rid of some clothing items 👍😁, she has outgrown them. They will be passed on to 2 younger cousins 😁. I will definitely be doing another decluttering session when we move back to our apartment, we have just the bare minimum of what we truly need, the toys are the top of the list followed by clothes.

Yes, me too. I was surprised that there was anything left to get rid of. This tells me that decluttering is not a 'one time' event. It is something that continues. I think it takes a lot of courage to get rid of things that you aren't using any more.

I love that you have such great recycle/reuse availability there. We have a general recycle bin here and people put regular trash in it all the time. Did a little digging and found out that the recycling bin goes straight to the dump anyway because of how much garbage is in it. :( I'd love it if our apartment complex had a household item swap area. We often put usable good shape items in the entry lobby of our building with a "free" sign on it even though we aren't supposed to. Those things get snatched up pretty quickly.
Same with the recycle bins in our building. So much trash gets thrown in them. Plus people don’t break down cardboard boxes which take up a lot of space in the bins. I recently read recyclers here are only recycling #1 & #2 plastics. They pitch the rest because there’s no money to be made with #3-7.
@@jillengel4124 call me a Karen.... I find it sad that we work so hard to do the right thing while others just don't give a rip. I guess the best you and I can do in our situation is try to purchase products with less packaging and packaging we can recycle in our apartments.
The recycling facilities are amazing here and people actually do use them fortunately!
@@Hazel_Fox22 I'm thinking of trying those detergent sheets I've seen advertised on Instagram. A lot less packaging. Will just keep a small bottle of detergent on hand if I need to wash a stain out in the sink before laundry day.

Hello Benita! That would be me, buying something because it looks so good on the person in their photo. I have started to declutter - I started with something small, my closet - that was very rewarding because it took me all day and I love my closet now. I have also started with a part in my living room, but that was put on hold because I got busy with work (I work from home). I love seeing your clothes - even your clothes make me feel relaxed (the grey tones). I love storage boxes - I have so many, mine are mostly empty waiting for me to organize a room :) I really do enjoy watching your videos and appreciate the time you take to share all of your tips. Hi I already started week ago decluting my flat and reducing my clothes and shoes and everything once for while aspecial when in Wales in UK we don't have any great long summer. So many stuff people accumulate for years and sometimes people forgetting about this stuff. Less is more and less stressful life 😊😍

We live in a 600 SQ ft house and out kitchen has only 1 upper cabinet & 1 lower cabinet plus the sink area (under sink has cleaning products). That, plus our fridge & stove is the entire kitchen!!! It does keep me from accumulating anything in the kitchen 😆
Edited to add: WOW! Your spaces has great storage! Our house has 1 tiny closet & we share it. Every time think I would like more storage, I declutter instead😁
