    I've visited China four times and saw different regions. Every time I've visited... I've seen big improvements. I would even be bold enough to say that the major cities in China are now overall cleaner looking than the major cities in the US.have fun in China and God bless you.

    The most populated city in China is actually Chongqing, with over 40MM residents, Shanghai is actually No. 2 in China. Shanghai is only one of the so-called tire one cities, in China. But it is perhaps the most famous city in China. This is just in case you have not done enough homework before arriving in China...

    Chongqing is more populated than Shanghai, and shenzhen is more technologically modern than shanghai. But Shanghai is the financial center of China. You should be able to get by with English in shanghai since it’s the most cosmopolitan, international city in china, in that it has the most foreigners so the local shops cater to English clientele.

    Actually Chongqing is the most populated city in China, you can also feel a very exotic unique sense just like Dubai and Singapore there, because Chongqing is the mountain city of China, it is a giant vertical dungeon, a real steel forest, the real CyberPunk.

    • @seafood_hater
      @seafood_hater ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm a Singaporean and I went to Chongqing last month (although only for a few days) and I can verify this! The verticality does remind me of CyberPunk--very cool. I also went to watch the play "Chongqing·1949". The 360-degree rotating stage blew my mind, really. I have many goosebumps during the 2-hour show. Unfortunately, non-Chinese speakers wouldn't be able to understand the play as the language spoken are in Chinese throughout. Best performance I've seen, no doubt, coming from someone who watches a lot of world-class plays. The whole production can't be praised enough.

    • @xwqi
      @xwqi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The area of Chongqing is 10 times that of Shanghai and 7 times that of Beijing. The population density is not as good as that of Shanghai and Beijing. There is no comparison, because Shanghai does not classify the surrounding countryside as a city.

    Shopping malls with many luxury brands altogether can be found in all tier one cities, and there are usually more than one such mall in one city. I know that Shanghai has at least 3 and Beijing as well. Also you can find such shopping area in tier two cities like Shenzhen and Chengdu. Luxury brands actually reported the biggest revenue in 2022 from Sichuan province (where chengdu and Chong Qing are), not even Shanghai. He needs to travel more in China. Also the hole in the wall food places in China are not disappearing, they are everywhere. Just get off big streets, you will find them all over China from Beijing to tiny towns.

    Great production and editing! And I truly admire your courage and skills navigating through a foreign language city!
    The second food you got from an alleyway is called 蛋饼 or 鸡蛋煎饼 (ji dan jian bing). It's a popular choice of eat on the way breakfast (maybe comparable to hotdog in NY) and it may surprise you that it doesn't have a long history in Shanghai. The food is originally from Beijing and Tianjin in north China and only got popular in the 1990s since the economy took off and large amount of migrants hit Shanghai from all over China.
    Shanghai is in many ways a very modern city of China, not only in this century but also the last, and the one before that. The cultural belief and motto is, "the ocean receives hundreds of rivers". And the name means "going to the ocean". Local population is refreshed constantly with migrants, seeking opportunities and a better life.

    Shanghai is far from the most modern city in China. I lived in Shanghai for 21 years and I still envy Shenzhen for its super modern city. Shanghai in these few years has been falling behind cities hangzhou and shenzhen in term of modernity and business friendliness. Those two city are the place to go for the best and brightest who seek to build billion dollar high tech business.

      and don't forget chongqing, its cyber style surprises me. i want to go there very much, but also a little worried that i might get lost, cuz it is a mountain city, very 3D, and i have a terrible sense of direction.
