I was pleasantly surprised when I went to China. It is the most futuristic country I've ever been too (and I've been to USA and European Countries). China was nothing like what we've been told by the Western Media. Before trashing China, people need to get themselves a passport and visit China to see the TRUE China.
Needless to say, everyone knows what exactly China is, we are specifically referring to their autocratic system and censorship which make people feel scary
@@annan7728 Then the Westerners show us how to create a national health city, control the homeless people, ignore their human rights, and drive them roughly and cruelly to the sparsely populated countryside to fend for themselves.
China continues to amaze me each time I visit. USA and its allies' negative portrayal of China via media propaganda can only do this much damage. It will only frustrate (and wow) anti-China elements more once they realise its remarkable improvements.
Who cares? A Chinese poem reads that amid monkeys' howl along the riverbanks, my skiff has travelled a thousand miles. China's growth stability and development will never be shaken by the clumsy show of these countries and individuals.
Qi pao, the Qi identifies as Ching/Qing period, Manchurians=Qi ren, and there is noting Qing about it. What you're referred to as Qipao is actually much later period. it is commonly called, "Chang-sam or long dress." the big difference is, Chang-sam is form fitting from shoulder to knee.
You guys make me missing Shanghai very much. I think it’s a good choice taking Shanghai as your first station to China. Friendly language environment, perfect public transportation, food is fine, actually you can find most of foods from the whole country in Shanghai. Btw, love that dress👍
Yu Garden is NOT built to attract foreign tourists, it was there hundreds years already, it was a private residence of a rich Chinese family. Later became a tourist site
Shanghai is one of the most developed cities in China. I suggest you try other regions in China. Each region has different customs, food culture, and natural scenery. For example, Beijing, Shenzhen (40 years of development, from a small fishing village to a city of electronics and technology), Hangzhou (a new Internet celebrity city, the beautiful West Lake), Xi'an (a thousand-year-old ancient capital), Chengdu (a comfortable city, with pandas, sweeping Sichuan cuisine across the country), Chongqing (wonderful mountain city scenery, delicious hot pot). Wish you a happy trip in China!
As Chinese, I can confirm ❤ all these recommendations are legit. I would even encourage people to boldly venture into some rural areas in the west. Most places are reachable by train or car. Hire a reliable local guide and you’ll be amazed
Being Chinese and been to Europe, I think one major good thing about China is that even if you don't know the region or the neighborhood, there's no real danger you have to worry about. There are no drug using crazy people at night. Security cameras on major streets to make sure you don't get robbed and hardly get stolen. Gun shots are something we only see in movies or heard from USA. No homeless people and their garbage on the streets, only cleaning aunties and uncles to keep the street clean. And these are true not only in big, developed cities, but also every smaller city, and every town all across China. It's the result of everyone sacrificed a little bit of their freedom and gain a bigger freedom of not having to live in danger or fear. This is why if you go to big cities like Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen, a lot of young people could stay very late outside at night to have fun and enjoy themselves. Beijing at 2 am is as safe as 2 pm.
I'm absolutely in love with China and the people especially. They are so kind. It's shocking how the western media created a certain negative narrative about the country. These videos are complete opposite of what we have been led to believe about China.
funny hw countries/cities with a chinese majority never seem to grapple much with safety issues, homelessness, trash and vandalism on streets etc etc (China , HK , Taiwan, Singapore)
Yuyuan Garden was built in 1559 and has a history of nearly 500 years. It was originally a private residence. It was not built for tourists, but it has become a tourist attraction today. Brother, you are standing in front of a historical monument.
Some of buildings are old. Others were built or modified from modern building to ancient looking buildings in last 50-60 years. I've watched all your Shanghai videos and loved them. I lived in Shanghai for 2 years and it brought back some great memories for me. Much of your reactions to some of the things you experienced were the same as mine. One thing you have to accept when you live there is that some things just don't make sense to a westerners brain, and you often find yourself saying "It's China".
If you shoot this video on 12/13, the lights probably would not light up. cuz, it's the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Day, to commemorate the 0.3 million victims of the Nanjing Massacre during WWII.
When I went to Shanghai we had the opportunity to see the Bund light up, and it was something to behold - especially because I didn't know we were nearby, so turning around a corner to catch a glimpse of that was really jaw-dropping. Seeing you walking paths I myself have been to gives a real nostalgia kick to the head.
Lana is wearing a traditional Chinese dress called "qipao." In China, the popularity of qipao reached its peak during the 1930s and 1940s. It was fully redesigned to accentuate the graceful curves of women. After the 1920s, it became the most favored attire for women and was officially designated as one of the national dresses in 1929. Lana looks very beautiful in the qipao, highlighting her quiet, grace, and knowledgeable.
I'm from Shanghai and I'm so happy to see there're more and more foreign tourists coming to visit. BTW, the soup dumpling is called "Crab Dumplings in soup". The main ingredients are crab roe, crab meat, and chicken soup, so you can hardly see meat inside. But it is a famous dish in Shanghai because people love to eat crabs. The name of the rice cake dish is "Pork Ribs with Rice Cake". It's also a classic and famous dish in Shanghai. Good choice!
To compare Shanghai with Singapore, one needs to take it into consideration that the population of Shanghai is five times that of Singapore. So the streets of Shanghai really are super clean.
If you enter China from Shanghai, your 144-hour transit Visa is good for traveling to Shanghai and any cities in Jiangsu province and Zhejiang province. The Visa is not limited for Shanghai only.
Love your videos, makes me miss China, especially the food. My family used to live in Shanghai before we moved to the United States. The lights on the Bund start from 5:00pm to 9:00pm every night. Do not miss it. It's a very beautiful view. The best way is to find a bar on top of the historic buildings beside, the views are stunning! Thank you for sharing and enjoy beautiful Shanghai.
Thanks for the video. 30 years ago, western cities were decent and clean just like Shanghai. Homelessness was unheard of in San Francisco. People were disciplined and nobody threw trash on the street. The buses were clean and children could play outside. Something happened in the last 30 years that changed everything. It's hard to understand exactly what it is. People are acting crazy, and the cities are overrun by homeless. It's not just SF, it's every single American city.
The instrument performanced around 8:57 is called 笛子 or Chinese flute, one of the most popular traditional Chinese instruments especially in southeast China. Kids grow up practicing it as a hobby just like guitar or piano.I play it till now😂
its like siao long pau, soup wrap dumplings...its darn hard to make but some people are crazy about it but others like me find it ok...also just because u see only chinese doesnt mean there arent any tourist...lots of singaporeans, malaysians, thais, indonesians etc are there for holiday...just happen we are also chinese
That place has become a touristy place but it wasn’t built for tourism. It existed for at least 100 years since the Ching dynasty. It was the temple of the city god.
Chinese street food conquers the tastes of foreign tourists, not to mention the cuisine of China's eight major cuisines, as well as the ancient court cuisine and the state banquet cuisine
After your series on Pakistan, loving these China vlogs❣ The last I visited, around 3 decades ago, it has since developed quite a lot! Wish it was easier to visit our forever friend and neighbour though, but bet they want to keep their cities clean and not rushed over by tourists, who bring in an eclectic experience of cultural exchange for the natives as well.

The best night scene at the Bund is from the other side, where you could see the heritage buildings in lights. I'd recommend the view from Shangri-La function room 's balcony
15:13 the sign at the bar says "glühwein" which is German, that's interesting 🤔 a popular German winter drink with wine. it literally translates to glowing wine, it's the one I made at our Christmas party in 2020 😅
Hey guys Thank you for sharing the video. Although I am Chinese, I have lived in the United States for thirty years and have never been back to China. When I saw your video, I liked it very much. I hope you will post more videos about China in the future. Thank you🙏
Chinese people are sooo friendly! I traveled to Italy couple years back, I tried to negotiate price on a souvenir mugs, the Indian vendor tried to slap me on the face!! I was shocked!! Lucky there was an elder Indian man possibly that young man’s father stopped him!! But I was shocked that how disrespectful Indians treats and sees woman! I tried to avoid those street vendors in Europe 😠
If you can speak Mandarin language is more advantanges. You can bargain more and Chinese people will more appreciate us. I am Malay from Malaysia but I use to speak Mandarin. When I was travelled to Beijing I will speak their language during shopping 😅.
We want to get a proper visa once we are back in Canada. But for now, how many times can we enter China with the 144-HR visa free transit policy? Is there a limit?
The best and most practical route is to fly to Hong Kong and then enter Shenzhen by land. Shenzhen and Guangzhou will bring different materials, such as the electronic city in Shenzhen, where you will find wholesale locations for almost all national electrical accessories.😉
The food at Yu Garden is called a soup dumpling or Xiao long bao, a Shanghai specialty. Usually they are much smaller but you still slurp the soup out first, without a straw. But those are extra large ones so you need a straw, haha.
@@JetLagWarriors The birth of cheongsam is less than 100 years ago. This is modern clothing. Formal clothing throughout Chinese history was more ornate. . The price of replicas is now as high as more than 600,000 yuan. . All handmade.
Once you poke the soup dumpling with a straw, leave it in and don't pull it out or you'll end up with soup on the plate! The soup filling is stuffed inside the dough in the firm of congealed aspic, which melts back into liquid soup after steaming
China is amazing no matter where you go as even the wild life is special and unique. Pandas to storks, eagles to river prawns, just a few of the many worth seeing first hand. Sometimes I wonder if I was born in the wrong country as dim sum is my favorite things to try although the soup dumplings are very hot so careful eating the soup as it can burn you. Its the gelatin that makes the soup dumplings so special.
If you like Chinese food, Chongqing and Guangzhou will be very good choices. China is so big that every city has its own unique taste and beautiful scenery. China is well worth living in long term and is the safest country.
nice content, and I just want to mention that when you try to buy that soup thing, that’s not camera that’s for QR scan , they were trying to say you can pay with Alipay or Wechat on phone. 😊
Thanks for sharing this nice travel vlog. Just a point that you may miss: most Chinese cities are all cashless, like street food stands and shops and restaurants. These camera or QR codes in every shop are for scanning for online transfer on Wechat pay or Ali pay. This may be difficult for international travellers to set up and register but once you are done you will have an easy time buying everything there
Asombroso todo sobre Shanghai, me excla de lo tradicional chino, modernidad y el futurismo. Solo con mucha disciplina y orden se puede llevar adelante un gran pais con inmenso territorio 👍
The seller pointing to the camera to let you scan your Alipay or WeChat pay QR code, not trying to take photos of the buyers. Annnd love your videos, missing Shanghai already ❤ 19:34
In fact, Shanghai is not the place with the most electric vehicles in China. Hainan Province has nearly half of its cars powered by electricity. This is because the cost of gasoline there is higher than in other places, but highway tolls are free, so people there are more likely to buy electric cars.
The 26-yuan item is a tomato soup (a Western food) and fried pork cutlet with rice cakes. The most classic way to eat a fried pork cutlet in Shanghai is to add Shanghai-style spicy soy sauce, which is the one in the yellow bottle.

她穿旗袍有被惊艳到🎉
上海2500万 新加坡500万 上海能保持和新加坡一样干净很了不起!
Don't go to Chiina!

it's not true. shanghai has 1.4 billion people because there is no fence with rest of the country!
@@zackk7175I think you should go to the hospital to ask the doctor for help.!

When you bought the chicken tomato soup, he was showing you to scan there to pay😊 It’s not a cctv camera 😊
If you enter China from Shanghai, your 144-hour transit Visa is good for traveling to Shanghai and any cities in Jiangsu province and Zhejiang province. The Visa is not limited for Shanghai only.
welcome to hangzhou
Love your videos, makes me miss China, especially the food.
My family used to live in Shanghai before we moved to the United States. The lights on the Bund start from 5:00pm to 9:00pm every night. Do not miss it. It's a very beautiful view. The best way is to find a bar on top of the historic buildings beside, the views are stunning!
Thank you for sharing and enjoy beautiful Shanghai.
Quite an amazing place. Wish you could travel to other parts of the country. So much to explore.
It's not just SF, it's every single American city.
american economy does not work for the poor & working class, and so it pushes more and more people out onto the street or to crime :(
It's because US gov't spends more money on wars and less on maintaining its cities and people.
The left has destroyed the West
毒品严禁可以拯救很多家人,政府鼓励创业给予更多的工作岗位,你们的政府似乎为了你们所谓的“自由”“民主”甚至可以不管人民的死活,这是我想象不到的
The instrument performanced around 8:57 is called 笛子 or Chinese flute, one of the most popular traditional Chinese instruments especially in southeast China. Kids grow up practicing it as a hobby just like guitar or piano.I play it till now😂
20:41 I like how confidently she said "No idea" 🤣🤣
its like siao long pau, soup wrap dumplings...its darn hard to make but some people are crazy about it but others like me find it ok...also just because u see only chinese doesnt mean there arent any tourist...lots of singaporeans, malaysians, thais, indonesians etc are there for holiday...just happen we are also chinese
I have watched lots of youtuber's videos. I found that Steve is very happy and positive person , a person who is fund to be with.
I live in California. I'm afraid to go out for a walk after 9:00. I sit in front of my bed and watch TV. It tells me how unsafe China is.
way?
LA is so unsafe to walk at night, and Shanghai is very safe
That place has become a touristy place but it wasn’t built for tourism. It existed for at least 100 years since the Ching dynasty. It was the temple of the city god.
Chinese street food conquers the tastes of foreign tourists, not to mention the cuisine of China's eight major cuisines, as well as the ancient court cuisine and the state banquet cuisine
you guys are hilarious. it cracked me up so loud when you bargained to buy the hat
i love the length of this video, thank you
After your series on Pakistan, loving these China vlogs❣ The last I visited, around 3 decades ago, it has since developed quite a lot! Wish it was easier to visit our forever friend and neighbour though, but bet they want to keep their cities clean and not rushed over by tourists, who bring in an eclectic experience of cultural exchange for the natives as well.
The Chinese dress is called Qipao, elegant and very good price. The soup is called LuoSong soup, a Russian style soup.
Qi pao, the Qi identifies as Ching/Qing period, Manchurians=Qi ren, and there is noting Qing about it. What you're referred to as Qipao is actually much later period. it is commonly called, "Chang-sam or long dress." the big difference is, Chang-sam is form fitting from shoulder to knee.
you can rent Qi pao in Chinatown, NYC.
Welcome to Shanghai, let more people know the real Shanghai, the real China❤
The second Qipao is so pretty!!!
You need to go to Suzhou next time to experience the authentic Classical Chinese garden and architecture.
so funny to see my neighbourhood in this vlog, same streets that i walk all the time and the childhood park where i used to play with my younger brother, very interesting experince as a viewer. hope you enjoyed the stay!
Can’t wait for the live premiere and chat with you! 👊
Same here!
@@JetLagWarriors I think you should get a translation app on ur phone, those that can covert voice to text , which will make everything much easier
Ivana is so nice. In fact everytime I went to YuYuan there are always foreign tourists so you are not the only one who knows the secret place 😂
and the camera in the shop is not for take photos of customers😂, it is used to no-cash paymant. I show my payment code and the camera scan it then the payment completed.
Thanks for sharing❤ A little tip: When shopping at a street-side store, feel free to bargain by offering a much lower price, sometimes even half the price they asked.
Like the one where you bought your hat.
The best night scene at the Bund is from the other side, where you could see the heritage buildings in lights. I'd recommend the view from Shangri-La function room 's balcony
15:13 the sign at the bar says "glühwein" which is German, that's interesting 🤔 a popular German winter drink with wine. it literally translates to glowing wine, it's the one I made at our Christmas party in 2020 😅
Are you preparing for the next China visit?
Going to return soon ✌️@williamdr5551
I have watched your travel videos in China and look forward to your return!
Italy is off putting
上海是温带和亚热带,绿化带有落叶,也有常绿的,因为有落叶,所以深秋初冬不可能做到没有一个叶子,哪怕一直清理。新加坡地处热带,都是常绿,所以没有落叶
If you can speak Mandarin language is more advantanges. You can bargain more and Chinese people will more appreciate us. I am Malay from Malaysia but I use to speak Mandarin. When I was travelled to Beijing I will speak their language during shopping 😅.
awesome bro
We want to get a proper visa once we are back in Canada.
But for now, how many times can we enter China with the 144-HR visa free transit policy? Is there a limit?
I think there is no limit according to official document. So you can actually go to a neighbor country and return.
You can just fly to Hong Kong and get right back into Shenzhen. 😂
They recently introduced a visa-free to China for specific countries, but none for the anglo-saxon countries. you guys got beef with them! LOL
The best and most practical route is to fly to Hong Kong and then enter Shenzhen by land. Shenzhen and Guangzhou will bring different materials, such as the electronic city in Shenzhen, where you will find wholesale locations for almost all national electrical accessories.😉
The simplest way is flying to HK then going back to Shenzhen or Guangzhou. It would be a total different experience in that part of China.
if you shocked by Shanghai, you definitely want to go to Chongqing
I have never been to Chongqing, but I was shocked with the highway in Chongqing while watching youtube video about Chongqing.
@@bluechan9776 🤩
I ate so much in China that on the way back they didn’t recognize me with my passport
Consider using any translator apps to make it easier while communicate with local as you both can't understand Chinese.
The food at Yu Garden is called a soup dumpling or Xiao long bao, a Shanghai specialty. Usually they are much smaller but you still slurp the soup out first, without a straw. But those are extra large ones so you need a straw, haha.
Ivana is so so beautiful on the Chinese dress, really fit her. I like the light blue one. 😊🎉.
I agree! She looks so good in it :)

The birth of cheongsam is less than 100 years ago.
That camera is use to scan your QR code to pay money 😂
20:08 You don't understand! Someone will help you by the roadside! How enthusiastic!😂
Steve is a natural. Very likable❤ some angle he actually looks like a younger Steve Martin😊 The soup inside is made of crab🦀
Thanks for sharing the beautiful place . I will go back there ( my motherland) next week.
Good buy for that 2 cheongsam ( qioao ). Looks good. 😊
Thanks for sharing this nice travel vlog. Just a point that you may miss: most Chinese cities are all cashless, like street food stands and shops and restaurants. These camera or QR codes in every shop are for scanning for online transfer on Wechat pay or Ali pay. This may be difficult for international travellers to set up and register but once you are done you will have an easy time buying everything there
The cities of china looks amazing, its just incredible how their gov manage to do that to its billion people.
I was born and raised in shanghai and moved to Toronto last year. Thanks for sharing. I am homesick now ❤
Pls make 100 videos about China!!!
Gonna love our "Mc."!!! such a fun video from Shanghai ❤
mc是啥? 服装品牌?
Asombroso todo sobre Shanghai, me excla de lo tradicional chino, modernidad y el futurismo.
Solo con mucha disciplina y orden se puede llevar adelante un gran pais con inmenso territorio 👍
The seller pointing to the camera to let you scan your Alipay or WeChat pay QR code, not trying to take photos of the buyers. Annnd love your videos, missing Shanghai already ❤ 19:34
That outfit fits her really well. Nice purchase.
Hey guys, I love your shanghai episodes. Next time when you come to Shanghai, I can be your guide. I live in Shanghai.
Fried rice cake with fried pork steak is a typical Shanghai local food, never forget that sour sauce.
I reckon the sour sauce you mentioned tastes like Worcester sauce.
@@martincyy it’s a spicy sour soy sauce, he showed you in this video.
The snack you eat is actually not chicken.it is called 排骨年糕 fried pork steak with sauced stick rice. A very typical shanghai local snack.
Actually the shop owner gave you quite fair prices. 39 for a hat is not bad at all. 😅
Love the hat as Beetle Bailey would be envious to know you have such a hat.
In fact, Shanghai is not the place with the most electric vehicles in China. Hainan Province has nearly half of its cars powered by electricity. This is because the cost of gasoline there is higher than in other places, but highway tolls are free, so people there are more likely to buy electric cars.
15:21 is my favorite part 🤗🐶
The 26-yuan item is a tomato soup (a Western food) and fried pork cutlet with rice cakes. The most classic way to eat a fried pork cutlet in Shanghai is to add Shanghai-style spicy soy sauce, which is the one in the yellow bottle.
排骨年糕,黄牌辣酱油,标准搭配👍🏻最正宗的可以去"鲜得来"
If you have more chance, try to find the Square dance, and join it
Looks very clean ❤
It's interesting that you guys found the authentic Pork Ribs and Rice Cakes!!!
Que massa!!! Chineses parecem muito amigáveis e o país muito limpo e organizado. Em 2025 irei conhecer a China! Ansiosa!!!
