    Thank you! I originally bought my anet and auto level at the same time, was really disappointed it wasn't able to work on the anet board. Board finally bricked on me and I found this video through a troubleshooting thread elsewhere. Switching to SkyNet saved my board plus i have autolevel

    THANK YOU!!! I can't tell you how many videos I looked for trying to find someone that showed which port to plug it in to. Everyone else starts from the firmware. Finally found visual confirmation :-)

    Interesting timing on this one. I ran the skynet upgrade yesterday as well. I needed a way to change my Z-settings because I replaced my lead screws with threaded rods due to issues with the lead screws or their corresponding nuts catching and dragging.

    Great video. I do have question. I have flashed the firmware with Merlin (A8 Anet) and when i hit auto home the printer will home the X and Y then try to home the Z all the way in the homed XandY position where there is no bed. obviously the Z motors bottom out because there is nothing to stop it. How do i fix this?

    Hey Joe, thank you for these helpful videos - keep up the great content!
    I'm considering purchasing an Anet A8 myself now - just had a question for you regarding print quality,
    From what I've read online - the A8 does require extensive and constant tinkering/adjusting to achieve good prints.
    I'm a real "noob" when it comes to 3D printing, but am experienced with 3D rendering in Rhinoceros...
    Would you recommend the Anet A8 or MP Select Mini?
    I like the size/upgradability of the A8, but the constant tinkering does scare me...
    whereas the Mini ensures good prints out of the box - albeit at compromise to the print size.
    Thanks in advance, and look forward to the next one!

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the Anet does in fact require lots of care and attention not to mention a few upgrades in terms of printed parts and a few safety addons. If you are a complete starter, out of the two you mentioned, i would probably go for the MP select Mini. i haven't had experience yet so far with it as i am waiting for the V2 to come out, however i have yet to come across someone that hasn't praised it

    Any idea why the extruder stepper motors jerking and not feeding filament thru the hotend:-
    Hotend working fine
    Filament roll rotates freely
    filament unspools ok
    nozzles NOT blocked
    extruder drive gear tight and correct
    Even put a new extruder motor on with no joy so yes run out of ideas, appreciate any suggestions

      +Kyle Boyda print quality can be as good once you print all the upgrades parts. Once you install the mosfet and a few other items, possibly also and E3D it would be even better, it just requires a lot of time and patience to get there

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you might have issues with the glass bed as the sensor might not have enough distance to detect the metal underneath. the surface is similar to BUildtak, which i really like to use :) the finish is fairly nice, slightly textured, not as flat as glass of course

    Great job on your videos! So, finding the Skynet Firmware is like finding a needle in a haystack, ugh. You're video says to following a link in the video description. I'm watching your video and don't see any links. I was on the Skynet FB site, at the top of the page there is a link to a file named "Skynet v2.3.2 fix 2.zip". It doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling to download and install something that refers to as "fix" let alone "fix 2". Please advise where I could find your link?

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The firmware in this episode is way outdated now. to be honest the reson that skynet is hard to find nowadays is because marlin supports Anet, so it is easily integrated. it's best to just download the marlin firmware from their site and use the Anet configuration files which are in the marlin firmware folders

  • @johnhenderson9041
    @johnhenderson9041 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    A day late for me because I worked it out on my own in the last few days. But I'm not sure in like the skynet/Marlin way of doing things. I have my sensor to the right of my nozzle hoping that I could keep the home feature with the nozzle of the print surface. In like to prime the nozzle manually before prints. But if I prime the nozzle the auto home pushes the dangling filament onto the nozzle and blobs it up and causes the initial layer to fail. Any thoughts on that? Just wanted to see if others noticed the problem. I was using the stock firmware flawlessly, but with manual leveling, for 2 weeks and about 80 hours of printing. Even a Z hop before the start of the print to allow for cleaning the blob off would be nice.

    Hi Joe! I've recieved my Anet A8 a few days ago. It is my second 3D printer. Do you recommend to update the firmware even if I am not planning to add a bed level sensor at this moment? Thanks!

    How do I get the auto level setting to level the z axis before the x and y. When it does the auto home it goes to the x and then y but then my z axis sensor is not over the bed anymore, so it just keeps going down.

    How did you get the Anet A8 to connect via USB? Mine will NOT. Tried different cables, as I had heard they shipped some bad ones. Windows 10 does not pop up any device install when it is plugged in. But a check of ports later shows a com port with the ch340 driver installed. Nothing sees the printer though. Help?

    Hi ! I got one question here , which is after install the auto bed leveling , is it just level for the first time then once and for all ?
    Or must do it every time before printing anything ?
    Thanks

    • @3DMakerNoob
      @3DMakerNoob  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimngu Gk you tweak the z offset once, then you simply include the G29 code in the start script and it will run auto bed levelling by itself when starting to print :)

    You should look into multi-material printing with a single head. I've seen a few videos on this but there wasn't a really good tutorial for this. it would make your a8 closer to the original mk2 with the multi-material upgrade.

    Hey Joe, Very nice detailed video. One question though, why use Skynet 1.1 when there is a 2.3.2 available from the facebook group? I myself use the 2.3.2 firmware and its working great. many of the issues with 1.1 are fixed in this version. So maybe something for yet another "upgrade" ;) Google Skynet 3D 2.3 and you will find the facebook group.

    • @3DMakerNoob

      i did find it to be honest, but arduino either gave me errors and pretty much left the printer blank

      In that case v1.1 is a good choice. Again loving your video's and what you are doing with all the printers. Funny thing, i did my upgrade parts in back. But seeing yours in prusa style orange, makes me want to upgrade again :P

      @3DMakerNoob  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Patrick Neijenhof everyone knows that with orange parts the Anet is faster and more accurate :p hehe thanks once again buddy. I will still do more research on the v2 sky net though and check

      Skynet 1.1 seems to mess my lcd printer screen up. it didn't do it at the beginning but it has got alot worse over time (3 weeks only). I used the same sensor as you Joe and seem to need to auto level the printer before every print. Also I have to keep changing the z offset in skynet after every couple of days to move it closer to the bed. It is a pain to be honest and I actually miss being able to manually adjust the bed as I seemed to get better prints before! l am still loving your videos Joe.

      compilation terminated.
      exit status 1

      iv redownloaded and rezipped the file many times. but every time i get the same issue. any ideas?

    Ok so the bed levelling sensor caught my interest but please excuse my ignorance, this doesn't level the bed, it just stops the z-axis travel when the sensor triggers. Ease can you do a calibration video to show how the bed is levelled with a sensor in place? Thanks
