Luke was not playing around, he went for the kill. And to think we could've gotten something like this, but instead got a scared uncle trying to kill his emo nephew.

Luke wasn’t holding back in fact you could make the argument to see say that Luke was amped in a way due to his rage of jacen torturing Ben making all the more the impressive that Jacen could fight with an enraged Luke skywalker and not get completely obliterated speaks highly to Jacen’s power (especially considering lumiya fought a similarly enraged Luke and got decapitated)
They were both out for blood. This was a fight worthy enough to make use of the revenge of the sith score. And I would say as epic as yoda vs sideous. People don't give the old eu enough credit in terms of fights. Nah they had some absolute bangers. It actually felt like a natural progression of what nick the stunt coordinator was doing in the prequels. Now they are much more brutal, using more of the environment and not just quick and fast
The Last Jedi thinks it's like this. These two scenarios are not the same. Jason was sadistic at this point, and had his whole life to think something like this through. I get that the Vong put him through Hell, and it is unfortunate. But Holy crap, man. Granted, not many people are happy about Jason in this arc, but it's leagues better than what LJ did. Luke is justified in wanting to make him suffer here, despite being largely better than that because we all have those breaking moments, which Luke has always struggled with due to how similar he and his father are. When it comes to individuals like Jason, most people blame bad parenting and upbringing, but I believe the opposite can be true. You can have the best parents, and teachers, but ultimately, it boils down to individuals and their free will.
I agree! In the Last Jedi, Luke attacking his nephew was plain pointless and has no meaning. In the case of this novel, it makes more sense, he's protecting and rescuing his son. Notice how he doesn't want to kill his nephew, and how he controls his son's rage, preventing him from killing his cousin.
@@buntsbooks Exactly. There are ways for making tragedies like this happen, without ruining the characters as a result. Everyone compares TLJ scene with Luke wailing on Vader at the end of ROTJ. Not the same thing. That was a life and death situation, and Vader had it coming. Luke wouldn't have immediately gone evil if he did do it, anyway. That's not how turning evil works. To be fair, this Luke is battle hardened and still active. While Jake was long retired and a monk
This really isn't good though lmao. Both Luke and Jacen are out of character here. Jacen would never turn evil and is way out of character here

This is one of the best fights in the EU
Please try to post as much as possible with this trilogy. Darth Caedus is such a good character.

Easily the best lightsaber duel in Star Wars literature. Absolutely worthy of the “Anakin vs. Obi Wan” score

So much better than Disney!
By far
Luk3 is so badass in this book and in th3 du3l
Guh... Legacy of the Force and every novel that came after it needs to be dropped down a bottomless pit. What they did to Jacen was horrible.

It’s better than what that awful Disney trilogy gave us so honestly I’d take this as my canon.
