    Pastor Jeff & Dr James *are* my Internet Pastors - as an
    auxiliary support system. Who’s with me ? You just don’t find this kind of a church nowadays

    I've been in church literally my whole life and never saw church discipline (or even heard of it) until I moved away from home in my early 20s. I attended an evening service and my church was actually going through the process for our pastor. I called my dad back home, like, "what just happened?" Thank you for talking about this!!

    Our modern American aversion to discipline makes church discipline a hard teaching, but it should not be the case in the body of Christ in local congregations

    A church not practicing church discipline is like a gardener not weeding his garden. After a while, the garden will be a patch of weeds, the church won’t be a church.

      TRUST CHRIST OR GO TO HELL :
      “Calvinism is a nickname for the gospel.” - CH Spurgeon.
      You obviously don’t understand the gospel.
      To call a doctrine a “demon” shows you don’t use your words carefully, as if you don’t really believe the Lord Jesus when He said you’ll be judged for every careless word you say. If you don’t believe in what the Lord Jesus says, how can you claim to believe in Jesus?
      “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:36‬ ‭

    • @yeoberry

      TRUST CHRIST OR GO TO HELL :
      By claiming that I cannot defend the truth (when I can) and by continuing to carelessly use the word “demon”, you’ve broken the 9th commandment (Exodus 20:16, Deuteronomy 5:20) by bearing false witness. You’ve committed slander. The Lord Jesus said slander and bearing false witness is what defiles you, showing you have a defiled heart (Matthew 15:16). The Apostle Paul wrote no slanderer will enter the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9). Revelation 22:15 says all liars go to hell.
      If you don’t repent, you need to examine yourself as to whether you’re really saved (2 Corinthians 13:5.)

      Jesus Saves From Hell :
      If you think you can believe in Jesus without repenting of your sins, you don’t know the first thing about the gospel.

      Jesus Saves From Hell :
      You’re a scripture-twister who picks and chooses what parts of God’s Word suits you and then ignores the rest.
      If you’re really saved through faith, your living faith produces works.
      If you think you can believe in Jesus without repenting of your sins, you don’t know the first thing about the gospel.

    • @yeoberry
      @yeoberry 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jesus Saves From Hell :
      You said that the Word of God never says to repent of your sins when the Lord Jesus clearly taught just that. "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand." (Matthew 3:2,Matthew 4:17,Mark 1:15).
      If you’re really saved through faith, your living faith produces works.
      If you think you can believe in Jesus without repenting of your sins, you don’t know the first thing about the gospel.

    Great lesson about checking your own heart. Being honest about motivation is something that isn't natural to us or necessarily come easily. Prayer and fasting... also the thought of keeping it quiet. That is so relevant and true. I have realized in my own life that if I'm not willing to go only to that person then I can know I'm not doing it for the right reason and I need to deal with my own heart.

    thank you apologia for bringing me back to Jesus and motivating my research into my Catholic faith that i had abandoned. the first scripture from Matthew was definitely a small reason i stayed Catholic. everything makes sense. the Old Testament conceals the New and the new fulfills the old. Jesus is the Bread of Life, and unless you gnaw on his flesh and drink his blood, you have no life inside of you.... that scripture was heavy too.

      Hey friend, maybe this will help for the background of that verse
      Before that passage Jesus says
      35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
      36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
      37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
      38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.
      39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
      40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:35, ESV)
      And after that famous passage about eating flesh, He says this
      It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. (John 6:63, ESV)
      The truth is that life doesn’t come from eating Jesus’ flesh and drinking His blood, but. Elsewhere we see that belief in Him causes repentance from sin, but ultimately it all relies on Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world
      I hope this helps, and I also love this channel and have benefited a lot from it

    Do you (or does anyone) have any good further resources on the topic of church disciplne? I am looking into this topic as my church is going through a lot of theological debates and I am realizing that perhaps this is a mark of a true church that I feel is required to have the fullness of the church, but I would like to do further reading.

    Yes, like the bible says to. Dealing with people that don't quit their sins. Having preachers that advocate alcohol, but can't qualify has being and elder or a deacon! What good is having a pastor that can't be an elder? Can't complain though, at least I qualify for that position too. I guess that's why I don't call my work preaching or a ministry, but rather evangelical work and sharing the gospel.

      Jeremy Benson :
      The Lord Jesus turned water into wine and drank wine. Should we excommunicate Him?

    • @jeremybenson5782
      @jeremybenson5782 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When he turned water into wine there is no indication as to whether he wanted anyone to drink it or not. People at the wedding were already drunk. There is no indication that Jesus drank alcoholic wine, since new wine does exist and doesn't contain alcohol. The bible says new wine is in the cluster an that the vats will overflow with new wine. It's hard to say in some indication if it's talking about new wine or alcohol wine.
      What does Jesus drinking wine and not being eligible to be an elder if you drink have to do with wine. Isn't it shameful to have pastors that don't qualify to be elders running public churches? They bible is clear, they must not drink alcohol.
      One comment down you said "No practicing this is like a gardener not weeding." but now that an idol has been compromised you don't want to do it.

    • @yeoberry
      @yeoberry 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeremy Benson :
      That’s one of the stupidest and most dishonest attempts at scripture-twisting I’ve ever seen. Of course the Lord Jesus wanted people to drink the wine He made. That’s why He made it. Only a total liar would write the nonsense you did. Repent of your lies.

    • @jeremybenson5782
      @jeremybenson5782 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foolish. Did I say Jesus didn't want him to drink it? No. I said there is no evidence he wanted him to drink it. Jesus said to take it to the ceremony of masters and that's it. You claim Jesus wanted him to drink it. I'm not the one making unsubstantiated claims. You also claim Jesus drank alcohol. This is another unsubstantiated claim. Prove to me the bread and wine supper with the apostles didn't happen with new wine.
      "Total liar."
      No, I don't think so. You might want to repent of your hypocrisy. You are all for supporting the video and its content, but not when it applies to the one creating the video. Bit selective? Maybe you should repent. Do you know Jeff Durbin did NOT teach the new earth in a video, which has been founded in OT and New Testament, and can be found in Revelation as well? He taught a restoration of the earth, which is NOT the bible.

    if a man in my church tries to rape me but somehow by the grace of God I fight him off...and nobody else was there, just he and I...can I not do anything about it until he has done it to another woman (which would make 2 witnesses)?

    Question for Apologia church. If I became a member of your local church, would you be okay with me becoming a member of another local church?

    • @ApologiaStudios
      @ApologiaStudios  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Jason A No. Then the question remains: who are your Elders? Who has spiritual authority in your life? Which body are you in a covenant relationship with? Whose responsibility is it to care for you?
      Not consistent.
      Hope that helps.

    • @jasona102
      @jasona102 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. There is no place in scripture that requires "membership".
      My Elders would be the ones in whatever local church or churches I happen to fellowship at. What you have done by saying that you would have a problem with a member of your church being a member at another local church is that you have become cultish. You have divided the body. You are falling into the sectarian mentality, decried by Paul, of saying “I am of...” and “I am of...” (I Cor.1:12-13).
      You have forsaken the spiritual definition of the Body for an ‘institutional model’ of the church, in which ‘membership’ has little to do with being a limb spiritually attached by the Spirit to the rest of the Body, but is defined in terms of “membership’ which cannot be found in scripture.
      Commitment to a group of Christians in one congregation in a way that preempts commitment to the entire church outside that congregation is wrongheaded and is described by Paul as infantile and carnal (I Cor.3:2-4).
      I agree that we should be held accountable by those leaders and believers we fellowship with. But I do not believe in dividing the body as you are doing.
      Relationships among Christians locally or translocally are spiritual in nature. They are not defined in terms of ‘belonging’ to one or another small group, as in a club or organization. They are defined in terms of ‘organic,’ God-ordained, real-life interaction that takes place (mostly) outside the‘scheduled “meetings” (Deduced from the fact that several of the ‘gifts,’ like giving, helps, administration, mercy, marriage, singleness, etc.-Rom.12:6-8/I Cor.7:7; 12:28-can hardly be thought to find their primary expression in the ‘church meeting,’ but rather in day-to-day interaction of believers among themselves). In fact, the congregational “meeting” has little to do with relationships per se, since people may gather there who have no real-life interaction or fellowship (historic and modern experience abundantly demonstrates this). Please consider this. Hope it helps.
