Hades was a fucking banger of a Game, i know all SGG are bangers (except Pyre), but thanks to Game Pass a lot more ppl played Hades, no surprise they Made a Sequel, i just hope in the future we get a sequel for Transistor, for me personally that is the Best indie Game ever made
There's a first for everything! Hades definitely deserved to be it's first. Absolutely cannot wait to experience more of the Hades universe - never thought we'd get to with their no sequel track record!
For anyone wondering. The main protagonist is Melinoe who was a representation of nightmares and madness. She is the daughter of hades or Zeus depending on where you look but looks like hades is the canonical father here. Her mother is Persephone. Interested to see how they incorporate her into the greater “Hades(tm)” franchise.
@@mr.umbreon3173 My guess is, game timeline wise, she was born after the first Game with Zag being the elder brother. I am also guessing the teacher/trainer was Hecate
@@mr.umbreon3173 this probably takes place before the last game since it talks of cronos and alot of the new characters are daemons personifications of different things they were like gods so that's what I'm guessing
fr, Hecate is one of my favorite figures in all of Greek mythology and she looks awesome here. i love the witchy Bloodborne vibes she gives off (makes sense, goddess of witchcraft and all that)
I can’t even describe how nothing else revealed tonight will come close to how this made me feel. The first game was one of the best games I’ve EVER played. So excited for this.
Honestly it warmed my heart seeing how the audience cheered for you folks when Supergiant Games appeared on the screen, even before they knew what was going on. Just goes to show how far you have come
Hades was such a refreshing and competitive game as well I can only understand the due succces of the game. I never defeated zeus. Maybe Ill ger back to it.
@@h5u7p5gt9 I wouldn't be too sure about that. Sounds like Chronos has imprisoned Hades, Persephone, and maybe even Zagreus. And you're going down to help them.
Let it be known that this trailer reached number 2 trending global (not just gaming), right behind the Game Awards themselves. To me more than anything, it shows that people have decided what their favourite announcement of the night was, congrats Supergiant!
@LuisFelipe-pq9lr im not sure....i think Hades will be captured.....or busy fighting kronos and Zag will be in charge of the underworld. i think she will be his younger sister given persephone has returned....and the eyes 1 hades 1 persephone vs having a fury eyeball lol
The mentor Melinoe fights in the animation is Hecate, a chthonic goddess of witchcraft and crossroads and to some extent the moon. She and Melinoe have similar motifs and characteristics, so it's excellent that SuperGiant has brought them together
"Hey Mel, you know how I knew your brother Zag? Well one time we played a little practical joke on Orpheus, got him to think we were actually the same person. He even wrote a ballad about it, it was hilarious! Anyway, we should do something like that, you can tell him you're also that Hecate girl or something." "But... we look entirely different. And he's seen us both, in the same room, how would that even work?" "I dunno, you're a smart girl, he's a gullible guy, you'll figure something out!"
Melinoe is in fact an Epithet of Hecate, and in other stories, Melinoe is shown to be the Goddess of Nightmares and Madness, so that's also neat. She is another Moon Goddess in Greek Mythology, alongside Hecate.
Description gave us tons of info; Melinoë and Hecate are the ones in the intro. I was not expecting a sequel due to the way you guys have always operated but I am glad none the less. You're one of the few companies that have never let me down so I feel no fear in being absolutely hyped for Hades 2! Death to Cronos!
Hades and Persephone had three children: Melinoe, goddess of ghosts, nightmares and madness, and MC of Hades II; Zagreus, god of the Orphic religion and MC of Hades I; and Macaria, considered the goddess of blessed death. So, we may be talking about a trilody here.
@@alissonborges2795 ohhh this is good to know. I hadn't heard of the other children of Hades. Plus Hecate, goddess of magic is real nice. It's fun to see other gods in their style. Now the story seems to be that Chronos returned and ruined the happily ever after? Normally Chronos is defeated before Hades and Persephone get together, so him imprisonning Hades like that is really interesting
@@alissonborges2795 The problem with Makaria is that she doesn't appear as Hades' daughter in any ancient Greek work -- only in post ancient Greek writing that appears to have mostly been written by _Christians._ The only time Makaria was mentioned in an ancient Greek source, it was in a play where she was _Heracles'_ daughter.
It’s more likely her ‘daughter’ Medea, as Melinoe was born to Hades and Persephone, and as we know, Persephone was born AFTER the Titanomachy We might see the appearance of Hera and the other six ‘traitors’ seeing as we saw Apollo in the trailer and Hera was also an absent god/goddess in the first game, mentioned only as a previous weirder of the Heart Seeker Bow
@@KevinGonzalez-hs7so "Indie "isn't a measure of success. It's not synonymous with "small". They are still as indie as it gets (they are even self published)
The fact that the general hype behind the first game has hardly died down and this gets announced is amazing. I still havent even finished Hades techincally.
@@kizume-7685 Oh, you're in for a hell of a ride! My tips, don't claimed a weapon or god as your favorite, try different recipe, you'll be surprised how many random things worked out so great when combined together. Even my best run somehow I achieve using my least favorited weapon and god lol
@@mierwei3402 TLDR; you right theres also the spelling Khronos or Chronus. Then theres Cronus/Kronos which is the actual spelling in this case since it is referring to the titan. Chronos is technically separate but I have a hunch that the god of harvest Cronus, is going to be merged with the god of time Chronos because we literally already did it during the Renaissance with “Father time” and the game referred to him already as time itself.
That's what happens when a studio genuinely cares about their game projects. They don't cut corners on delivering the best experience possible. I've yet to Plat a SG game that wasn't damn near a masterpiece all to its own.
@@samkorn4047 the magic of Logan Cunningham. Such a talented voice actor. He did the narrator in Bastion, the sword in Transistor, and Hades/Achilles in Hades. An incredibly important member of the SG dev team
I was so baffled from Hades that I never hear the same dialogs. Even like 90 hours into the game😍 it's unbelievable how many hours these guys must write and read dialog, omg.😵😵
I could see it as a fun challenge. Rather than writing it all, my first guess would be having the actors say a few lines written by the team and then come back, sit down with the creative director or character dev team, and began to start spouting off lines to be written down in a spreadsheet. Depending on the size of the game, this could equate to writing a John Grisham Novel. If pre production had all of the NPC's all picked out and set in the most sturdy stone. They could have the diolgues ready by post production and have them imported and quick tested their ingame pop up dialogues.
Have you really never played another SuperGiant game? No dialogue is ever repeated. But actually, that's very common for these sorts of indie games. Dialogue repetition is more a feature of open-world/very long RPG games, because the amount of dialogue in those is already pretty crazy for a 40+ hour main story. Case in point: Diablo series.
I love how in the first game after Persephone comes back and starts explaining her relationship with Hades and how much they love eachother and Zagreus goes like: “Wait… mother you don’t plan on having other children do you?!” P:“Haha, no. You’re plenty!” But this is CLEARLY Melinoë, their daughter from myth! Sooo, yeah guess Hades and Persephone got their freak back on 😆
From Wikipedia: Melinoë is the daughter of Persephone and was fathered by her father Zeus,[8] whom he tricked by taking the form of Hades via "wily plots", indicating that in the hymn Persephone is already married to Hades. This is paralleled with another Orphic myth, the birth of Melinoë's brother Zagreus, who was conceived when Zeus, disguised as a serpent, deceived and mated with Persephone.[9]
PLEASE make art books! Your games have incredible art and I’m sure many people would love a coffee table art book of the Hades games. Like a full hardcover artbook PLEEEEASE
I recently learned about Studio Grackle because of following Drawfee (Spencer Wan is a friend of theirs). Absolutely gorgeous art. Very excited to see the Hades art-style back in action. Beautiful game!
The moon symbolism and the fact she has two heads on the side (so three heads total) all point to Hecate as the mystery character. Also the Wisp (forgot their official name) referred to her (apprentice? The main character) as a witch. This is so cool!
All they have to do is take what they had in the original and apply it to new characters. Maybe a little new flavors in other parts. So many sequels have floundered because the developers stray too far from what fans loved in the first game. I pray this is not the case!
Curious what role the cast of the first one, especially Zag, will play in this! Would love some brother-sister rivalry (like the Thanatos rooms in the first game) or tag-teaming. Cerberus better returnberus!!!
In my head, he's in charge of the Underworld now that their father is gone. I like to think that Zag went all the way to become a Unseen One just like his father (like you can do in the first game) and that gives him the authority, or maybe the obligation, to fill Hades' shoes. Someone has to do it, anyway. I can just see him behind that desk, feeling tedious or resignated depending on how older he got.
@@GhabrielPeper Olympian Gods don’t retire in myth I’m pretty sure. They don’t age, after all. At best he might be busy doing something else, but Hades is always the eternal ruler of the underworld. Bet Zagreus more likely happens to be guarding the border he once broke through, and suddenly here’s his sister 😅
I absolutely love the part where she sweeps her hair kinda like how Zagreus does in the last animation. Hope we get one with Macaria where she flips her hair or smth.
I was wondering if/how they'd do Macaria, mostly because she's described sometimes as Thanatos's lover. Given his relationship with Zagreus in the first game that could cause some real family drama.
That’s Melinoe, goddess of ghosts. She’s described in myths as being half dead and half alive which explains the red undead eye and ghost arm. Makaria is her sister and goddess of the blessed dead in Elysium
The founding feature of a roguelike is that the player can make repeated runs, growing stronger each time. The conceit in Hades 1 is that Zagreus just doesn't stay dead (and respawns back at the start) and thus, can make arbitrary repeated attempts to escape Tartarus, ascending upwards. My theory about H2 is that it's about Melinoe descending down from the surface into the depths to confront Chronos... but therein lies the question: how can she cannonically make multiple runs? The key here... is time. I'm betting that Chronos has either some sort of time stop or a time loop running in Tartarus, and that Melinoe is somewhat resistant to this effect, allowing her to descend... but each time she 'dies' she just auto-rewinds to the surface, where those above may or may not be fully aware of what's happening (depending on how affected they are by the time screwery). Hectate acting as the 'first boss' as it were to make sure Mel is prepared to start going deeper, or stop her if she isn't yet. As for the post-game, I'm guessing that the endgame is that Mel beats Chronos enough times to finally re-seal him and free Hades and the others (including probably Zagreus) but the time loop 'lingers' after Chronos proper is defeated, leaving either the final guardian or a time-clone of Chronos in place of the original, allowing the player to keep challenging the game like in Hades 1, with an assurance that the temporal knot will correct itself 'soon enough' or 'eventually' without Chronos to keep it going.
"The founding feature of a roguelike is that the player can make repeated runs, growing stronger each time." Well, ackshually... ;) This is a slightly more modern innovation than you might think. Go back as far as games like Nethack and you won't really find that sort of thing, discounting stuff like randomly finding the graves of previous player characters during your run (or maybe my knowledge of the super old school roguelikes is incomplete). It's a VERY compelling design element, so I don't think it's a coincidence that it shows up in all of them these days, I'm just being a pedant about the word "founding." I do think you're right about the premise, though. It makes too much sense.
@@life-destiny1196people like to call roguelikes with permanent progression "roguelites", since the original Rogue didn't have any. it's a bit confusing but it is an option
Thank you so much for this, Supergiant! The first Hades is easily one of my all-time favorite games! I plan to play the heck out of this! Also, GENIUS idea using Chronos as the villain! I’m guessing the rogue-like element of the story comes from him rewinding time or something similar? That would be crazy and fantastic!
I still remember the first time I saw the animated trailer of Hades. It was glorious and refreshing. I'm glad to see that the love for the game it's still strong to move them to make a sequel; the underworld is so beautiful as it own that I can't way to see more of it.
I’m very excited for this game. I can’t wait to get to play as Melinoë and meet all the new gods (hopefully Hephaestus, Hera and Hestia will appear in this one). And I do hope Zagreus does appear again either as a Chthonic companion, an optional playable character, or even just a simple NPC to interact with.
I'm excited to see what the Kronos boss fight will be like. And to see if they include Circe and Medea. O! And special weapon aspects of Morgan Le Fey, Baba Yaga, Elphaba and Hel at least!
@@moth5799 yeah but it seems like kronos is alive and active now. hades I is set after the gods kill the titans, incl. kronos, who is cut to pieces by zeus. so it can be assumed that this sequel is actually somehow set in the far past from zagreus' time. but since kronos is the time guy, i guess we could somehow travel time or something.
Almost a year ago I was watching the Game Awards with two friends; one them and I are big fans of the first game. We didn't realize it was a sequel right until 0:56, when we heard that all-too-familiar four-note motif. We started screaming and grabbed each other in the hype; it was amazing I can't wait to play this game; we already know it's going to be something special, just like the first game
I also remember - they did it so damn well. Of course watching it again you see a lot of hints that point directly to Hades, and even the music was already Hades, but it's not like I was watching a random fighting scene 20th game trailer in full focus then. And I didn't even catch the Supergiant Games. But that tune.
I can expect him to appear and be like Thanatos, so they compete just for how many kills they have, while he may appear too before getting to your destination and pummel Chronos
I hope he's somehow playable or at the very least visitable somewhere along the path , maybe find him in random rooms trying to make his way out on one of his own journeys
I went into Hades expecting it to be another action basher but the depth of the story, customization, characters, world, story, weapons, and story blew me away.
Notable Greek gods I can think of missing from hades 1 that could make an appearance in 2 - Hephaestus/Vulcan, Hera/Juno, Apollo (confirmed by this trailer), Hestia (I believe Exagryph or some weapon aspect is hers in 1), Gaia, Eros, Uranos, pretty much all the titans including Hyperion, Iepetus, Atlas, and others, and also hercules, though legends disagree on whether he ultimately became a god or not. I'm most excited for the reversal of the vibes in hades 2. Like, in 1, weird as it may sound, the deepest depths of hell felt cozy. The house of hades is Zag's home, and so you feel so at ease there. The music is familiar, the landmarks are recognizable, and as you get further and further out, even into the good part of Hades, Elysium, it feels so unfamiliar, so alien and creepy, and the creature design, difficulty, music, and other aspects of the design mirror that. I want Hades 2 to give us a surface that feels familiar, with it getting darker and more terrifying the deeper down we go
Another notable figure missing is Erebus, the god of darkness imo, especially since he's Nyx's husband and the darkness shards Zagreus uses to get stronger is quite literally his power
Thank you so much for everything. I got literal chills! Nothing and I mean NOTHING can even come close to this announcement on the Game Awards today. I hope yall have an great development time. Can't await to know what you guys have in the oven, am just so really happy I... can't even describe it
Was not even expect this as a possibility. Cannot wait to see what direction the devs go with a sequel to such an amazing game. I know they won’t disappoint.
I'm already a bit disappointed. I'll buy it and play and we all know it will be high quality stuff but I was hoping for a different Supergiant world to explore, rather than "Hades but girl". I know, how dare I express my honest opinion. Keep up the toxic positivity.
@@Bolsty7 I'm not going to complain just because it's a world we've seen before, and "Hades but girl" is such a narrow descriptor for a game we know next to nothing about. If not fawning over it, at least have the decency wait before you make a judgement like this.
@@Bolsty7 You’re allowed to have your opinion and if that’s how you feel more power to ya. My hype cannot be described. I was under the impression we would never see a sequel or a spin-off. Hades is EASILY my favorite game ever. Thank you so much for giving us this😭🥳🥳🥳
It's kinda weird they didn't add any post-launch content like new weapons, boons and gods, despite the game's popularity. So I imagine there was a lot of stuff in the works if they decided to make a sequel.
Words cannot describe how excited I am for this. Anyone who loves the original understands the vibe this game gives and it’s amazing personal experience.
I've never been able to stop raving about the first Hades game ever since it came out. Literally _everything_ from the art to the animation to the music to the characters even the damn menu design is just so carefully thought out. You can tell every part of their team puts a lot of love and care into every detail and it just makes me so happy and even MORE excited to see this game because you just know the same love and care has gone into this too.
Literally SAME!! I love everything about the first game and still play it all the time and never get tired of it!! There are so many unique builds you can do!! And I love the characters (so much I got official merch of some) and listen to a hades music playlist to work all of the time! The game is even how I started some friendships with people!! It is just incredible and honestly my favorite game of all time at this point
I couldn't stop geeking about the firt game ever since I played it for the firt time. I wanted a DLC of sorts but this, this is sooooo much better! The music, the characters, the lore, the care with which original source was treated. Soooo good! I cannot wait to get into this ASAP
coming back to this trailer almost two years later because of how hype it was. Now partway through early access and it's every bit as good as I was hoping with so much more still to come. So worth the wait.
Recognizing the same stunning art, music, and voice acting fills me with a ton of excitement! Can't wait to be engrossed by the storytelling Supergiant has in store for us
Confirmed characters: Moros: God of Doom, son of Nyx. Close brother to Thanatos (natural death) and Keres (violent death). Nemesis: Daughter of Nyx, goddess of just retribution and punishment for hubris. Also possibly granddaughter of Chaos and mother of Helen of Troy. Nemesis is the goddess which kills Narcissus by causing him to fall in love with his own reflection. Dora: Almost certainly Pandora, aka Anesidora, the first human woman created by the gods. Supposedly created by Hephaestus and taught various skills by the Olympian gods, the most important of which is how to deceive by Hermes. Opens "Pandora's Box" in a plot by Zeus to punish the titan Prometheus and mortal humanity. Apollo: The only member of the 12 primary gods of Olympus to not appear in Hades. Father of Orpheus. God of Oracles, and god of both medicines and plagues. He is also the most favored of all Zeus' children.
Following up to this, in Hades Thanatos and Zagreus talk about Than's other siblings: Doom, Justice, and Strife. Or as they're more officially known: Morose, Nemesis, and Eris (of the Exagryph Rail aspect). So Eris may also end up appearing next to their confirmed siblings.
I'm so excited!!! I can't stop thinking about one particular interaction in the first game, when Zag asks Hades if he has any other siblings, and Hades responds something along the lines of "I'd never risk having another like you". Soooo I'm very curious and excited to discover how Melinoë came to be; was she always secretly there, was she born after the events of the first game? AHHH I CAN'T WAIT!
Pretty clear with the final line she's Zagreus Daughter trying rescue him. I'll guess the gimmick considering we see the moon heavily in this trailers, she is gonna be able to go around Mythological Ancient Greece living world Zagreus could only survive for a few minutes at a time.
@@PragmaticProsecutor well in mythology she's Zeus daughter... Who seems to be shown chained up here... So guess we're both wrong. Melinoë is Zeus and Persphone's daughter born in Cocytus in Hades. So she's Zagreus half sister.

I don't think it's pathetic, if you really loved the first game then you're gonna feel strongly about this announcement. I'm excited too, not to the same degree but I get it. The other commenters are just circle jerking putting down someone else's excitement, ignore them
They really stepped up the animation quality as well! The trailer for the first game was phenomenal but this one looks like it has so much more time and resources dedicated to it. It’s also cool that Spencer Wan from Grackle was also part of the character design team this time around, I don’t remember that being the case for the first game so it’s cool that they got the studio to be more involved in the process.

I just woke up to this (Friday after a long and tedious week). A really nice surprise after thinking for weeks I'll never see any of my favourite artists release something new.
The music rocks, the animation slaps, the art smashes, the voice-acting rolls, the story slays, and my mood kicks into hype. Thank you Supergiant Games ^^
You are all amazing! Hades was such an amazing game and a beautiful work of art. I never thought there would be a sequel, and it looks so breathtaking already! Can't even describe how excited I am for this!!
Why didn't you think there'd be a sequel?! The first HADES was a critical and commercial success. Common sense would dictate there'd have to be a sequel at some point.
@@shinbakihanma2749 Just because a game becomes successful doesn't mean they're gonna guarantee a sequel. Maybe for studios owned by large companies or publishers who push for sequels. But Supergiant is indie so they have the final say on a sequel or not.
I tuned in right when this trailer started and at first i couldn't believe my eyes. I was like "wait a second this art style looks familiar, this can't be real right? ". Turned out, it was real and by far my favorite moment in the entire show. Loved the first game and will definitely love the second one as well.
lol, I saw the art two days ago in mid of two other "new" releases and I was like what is THAT? It looks most interesting of those, but I could not be bothered to read the article at work and now YT showed me. Cant wait.
Apparently now "woke" means having to play as a female protagonist to some people in the comments, yep, the ever changing definition of "woke" from person to person. Remember the days when games like Tomb Raider got released and no one made a fuss about having to play as a female protagonist? Nowadays many gamers are just a bunch of insecure whiners. I even saw a movie trailer where someone said it was woke because one of the leads was black. We're living more and more in a society of hate, cry babies and intolerance, sadly.
Im so glad they are going with a sequel here. Greek mythology has so much more potential, I cant wait for all the amazing character art and to be blown away by the music again
I was kinda confused when I realized Hades didn't include even many of the better known Greek deities. I have to wonder if they were already planning a sequel and saving some for that or if they realized after the first game how much untapped potential there still was and with Hades becoming one of the best games of the year they decided to pound away while the iron is still hot.
Looks like we'll be in an Neptune-themed area at some point with one of the last areas they showed. It had some seashell moldings on the walls, and an enemy looked like centaur, but with a crab-like lower-half

God bless you guys for being utter inspirations to this industry and art form, can’t wait to play this whenever it’s out!
Interested to see how the main character here ties in to Zagreus and his family. Feels like Chronos here is being set up to be the big bad, as opposed to Hades being misunderstood and eventually growing as a father. This reveal was so unexpected and I haven't been this hyped for a game in years. I trust you, Supergiant. ❤️
Is that not Zagreus at the end chained up? Im guessing the new main character is his daughter seeing as they share the same eyes and Chronos has him captures, possibly for escaping death so many times.
@@thief. Zag's eyes come from his mom and dad each, for this to be his daughter he would have likely had to have a daughter with someone with similar iconic eyes, It's more likely to be his sister hence the same eyes.
Honestly I wonder what the lore reason is gonna be for her reviving after being killed, I really like that Zagreus made sense as a protagonist in a rogue like because of the mythology behind it. Im really looking forward to this game
Not going to lie, this trailer is the reason I bought the original Hades in the first place. I probably wouldn’t have given it a second look otherwise. Thank god I did because I’ve been having an absolute blast! The rouge like genre isn’t normally my thing but the world and dialogue have been amazing so far. Even when I do a run that doesn’t get as far as my last I still get new voice lines! The story being able to continue bits at a time without the need for progression is honestly a big motivation for me even when I’m not playing my best. I adore the game and can’t wait for the sequel!

Funny how the most memorable game of the night happened to be at the very beginning of the show. Hades was amazing and i look forward to another 100 hours with this game.
Same here, Melionoë looks kick-ass. Can't wait for this sequel, everything just screams "style!". Hades is one of the best rogue-likes ever, can't get enough of it.
I didn’t get a chance to watch the awards but holy macaroni. Hades is one of those games that holds more than just a special place in my heart. If I could go back in time and experience that game for the first time, seeing all the bosses, hearing the music, feeling the story, I would. To see that they’re making a SEQUEL??? IM GONNA CRYYYYY
I’ve never screamed out loud at any trailer for anything before and this got me multiple times. I didn’t expect a sequel from Supergiant - the fact that they committed to this makes me believe that this is truly something special, I am unbelievably excited!
Absolute freaking phenomenal follow-up to one of the best games in history. Supergiant just keeps making effing spectacular games. Terrrific job guys, simply terrific, Viva la Hades

@@alissonborges2795 The problem with Makaria is that she doesn't appear as Hades' daughter in any ancient Greek work -- only in post ancient Greek writing that appears to have mostly been written by _Christians._
The only time Makaria was mentioned in an ancient Greek source, it was in a play where she was _Heracles'_ daughter.
ditto to that sentiment, although i wasnt fond of Pyre everything else has been absolute fire
It’s more likely her ‘daughter’ Medea, as Melinoe was born to Hades and Persephone, and as we know, Persephone was born AFTER the Titanomachy
We might see the appearance of Hera and the other six ‘traitors’ seeing as we saw Apollo in the trailer and Hera was also an absent god/goddess in the first game, mentioned only as a previous weirder of the Heart Seeker Bow

theres also the spelling Khronos or Chronus.
I always loved the voice acting this studio's games have. Like in hades or transistor
The Bastion narrators voice is orgasmic too
transister is insanely beautiful for a game.

I was so baffled from Hades that I never hear the same dialogs. Even like 90 hours into the game😍 it's unbelievable how many hours these guys must write and read dialog, omg.😵😵
As far as I know, it's all written by ONE PERSON! Greg Kasavin! he's amazing!
and the amazing voice acting too!!!
The dialog started becoming less frequent and more minimal around the 7th time I defeated the final Hades battle. Definitely was impressive.
I love how in the first game after Persephone comes back and starts explaining her relationship with Hades and how much they love eachother and Zagreus goes like: “Wait… mother you don’t plan on having other children do you?!”
P:“Haha, no. You’re plenty!”
But this is CLEARLY Melinoë, their daughter from myth! Sooo, yeah guess Hades and Persephone got their freak back on 😆
Or... the game takes in distance future and its Zagreus's daughter
From Wikipedia:
Melinoë is the daughter of Persephone and was fathered by her father Zeus,[8] whom he tricked by taking the form of Hades via "wily plots", indicating that in the hymn Persephone is already married to Hades. This is paralleled with another Orphic myth, the birth of Melinoë's brother Zagreus, who was conceived when Zeus, disguised as a serpent, deceived and mated with Persephone.[9]

In my head, he's in charge of the Underworld now that their father is gone. I like to think that Zag went all the way to become a Unseen One just like his father (like you can do in the first game) and that gives him the authority, or maybe the obligation, to fill Hades' shoes. I absolutely love the part where she sweeps her hair kinda like how Zagreus does in the last animation. Hope we get one with Macaria where she flips her hair or smth.
...?
(but why?)
@@Aburner1109 Hair flip adds style points
It's Melinoë not Macaria, the lead artist confirmed it on Twitter. But solid agree!
"The founding feature of a roguelike is that the player can make repeated runs, growing stronger each time."
Well, ackshually... ;)
This is a slightly more modern innovation than you might think. Go back as far as games like Nethack and you won't really find that sort of thing, discounting stuff like randomly finding the graves of previous player characters during your run (or maybe my knowledge of the super old school roguelikes is incomplete). It's a VERY compelling design element, so I don't think it's a coincidence that it shows up in all of them these days, I'm just being a pedant about the word "founding."
I do think you're right about the premise, though. It makes too much sense.
Hecate is probably bringing her back
Zagreus is up on Olympus chilling with Artemis and the Nymphs.
Looks like you got it right for Hecate

Same here. Each time I found someone remotely interested I start my 2 - 3h praise/lecture about SGG and Hades!
True. I literally cant think of a single flaw with it. For what it is, its perfect.
@@demosthenes995 If I had to list a single flaw it would be lack of enemy variety.
makes me wonder how long we will have to wait for 1.0 release
Literally SAME!! I love everything about the first game and still play it all the time and never get tired of it!! There are so many unique builds you can do!! And I love the characters (so much I got official merch of some) and listen to a hades music playlist to work all of the time! The game is even how I started some friendships with people!! It is just incredible and honestly my favorite game of all time at this point
I AM SO EXCITED!
I loved how they used/adapted/presented the old myths in Hades and I cant wait to see what other stories they bring to the table
I... was not expecting this! I was ready to embrace a completely new world, not expecting a sequel, but I'm excited for what you guys will bring!

Confirmed characters:
Moros: God of Doom, son of Nyx.
I thought Orpheus' father is Morpheus?
@@dentangaji6161 That's from the Sandman.
Your wrong on the olympian statement. We never see Hera, or Hephaestus as well.
@@cameronvaillancourt5783 You are absolutely correct, I'm unsure how I managed to repeatedly miss that. Thank you.
I just realized that Nemesis wields her Stygius aspect
Holy shit, thanks for pointing that out!
The animation trailer was such a treat for the eye, youve got some talentes people there.
@@charlesacker9174 She's Zagreus' sister, the "father" she's speaking to is still Hades lmao
@@PragmaticProsecutor well in mythology she's Zeus daughter... Who seems to be shown chained up here... So guess we're both wrong. Melinoë is Zeus and Persphone's daughter born in Cocytus in Hades. So she's Zagreus half sister.
@@charlesacker9174 no ,thats hades, look at his beard
@@charlesacker9174 No. Thats based on Orphic mythos in which Zeus and Hades are considered two sides of the same god and and Zagreus is also born of Zeus and Persephone. Supergiant will almost definitely be consistent in their adaptation of orphic + classic greek mythology and Melinoe will be daughter of Hades and Persephone just like Zagreus.
Also idk how to tell you this but the game is titled Hades.
every single one of the magnificent bastards on this team deserves endless praise, but holy shit. Jen and Darren outdid themselves already i AM SO EXCITED
This has to be one of the best game development teams out there. Even so much I would like to try to apply for a job in the next future.
They're very particular about who they hire, they like to keep their team small (presumably for efficiency, but also to ensure they only have the best of the best working with them). They also prefer people in/around SF. So good luck with that.

I want want to know so much about these characters. You guys are masters at making amazing characters, and I can't wait to see them all. Love the designs so far as well!
It would be pretty neat if they dropped the full soundtrack like they did with the first Hades Game. I listen to the Original soundtrack constantly when i'm doing college homework as it is so well designed.
I've been a fan since Bastion and it makes me so happy to see Supergiant grow so much and find such success to where they finally make a sequel to a game beloved by many. This looks like an animated series you can PLAY, and I'm so excited for it!
The animation and voice acting NEVER ceases to amaze me. First game was SUCH vibe, I'm really excited for this :)
Whats more amazing is the VAs being the main team or just friends of the devs. Its like pure talent orbits around them 😁.
Edit: looks from the credits the VAs are industry regulars this time. Lets hope Meg comes back
With that much post processing you could pick anyone off the street to be the VA
I wonder if they will do another developing hades type documentary for the sequel like they did for the original. I'd love to see the development process again and what they learned from the first game to implement into this one.
Immediately recognizing Darren's composition I nearly cried from the immense excitement of this reveal!! Can't wait

I don't think it's pathetic, if you really loved the first game then you're gonna feel strongly about this announcement. I'm excited too, not to the same degree but I get it. The other commenters are just circle jerking putting down someone else's excitement, ignore them
the moment I saw Studio Grackle’s animation I started screaming, congratulations Supergiant Games! Looking forward to this sequel soon! 🥰
I'm speechless... I am profoundly in love with Hades and seeing it have a sequel makes feel so happy you can't imagine!!! May this time you be honoured with the game of the year award as Hades deserved 💛
Edit: thank you so much for the 300 likes!!!
I find it legitimately funny that people consider this game as "woke" when the first game literally had Zag being Bisexual with Thanatos. The game isn't even out yet, and people are already complaining, Gamers man, I swear.
truly the one community that needs to touch grass the most
Not only that, but Zag, Than, and Meg can all be in a polyamorus relationship with each other
the music and the crown.. instant chills. cant believe supergiant is doing their first sequal. with Hades nonetheless. I'll miss Zag but i have no doubts ill love the new characters just as much. Maybe more!
I have a hunch Zagreus will appear in Tartarus or along the path.
I bet we're gonna love Kronos
Don’t worry, bisexuals will still be winning I’m sure.

I saw the red wreath and the orange-flame feet and thought, "WAIT. No way..." Because exception design means people will know it just by sight.

@@soridosuneku neptune was already in the first game in a way with the presence of poseidon, as neptune is his roman counterpart. though i think it was confirmed some of the original gods from the first are coming back like zeus and artemis.

It seems like were getting help from Hades this time as we are going to take down his tyrant father.
@@thief. That was Hades by the end. And the main character this time is Zag's sister.

Maybe with Hades incapacitated, Charon keeps fishing her out of Styx and throwing her out so she can try again?
I mean Kronos is the god of time right?
Not going to lie, this trailer is the reason I bought the original Hades in the first place. I probably wouldn’t have given it a second look otherwise. Thank god I did because I’ve been having an absolute blast! The rouge like genre isn’t normally my thing but the world and dialogue have been amazing so far. Even when I do a run that doesn’t get as far as my last I still get new voice lines! The story being able to continue bits at a time without the need for progression is honestly a big motivation for me even when I’m not playing my best. I adore the game and can’t wait for the sequel!
