    The plate that you didn’t know what it was for is when you find out what setting is best for you at the bottom of the mic, you can put that plate on so it hides the bottom part and just in general gives it a cleaner look. But totally your preference

    Lane I have two questions, would the Shure SM7B be compatible with my Yeticaster mic stand?? And second, which interface should I purchase. 2in 2 out or 1 mic.? Thank you sir!

    • @LaneSebringlive
      @LaneSebringlive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      as far as the yeticaster, it all depends on the size of connection. I'd have to look into it. And the 2i2 vs the solo just depends on if you ever need a second mic. If you don't, just go with the solo. hope that helps!

    Hello Lane, I’ve recently purchased the Shure SM7B but I’m having trouble with buzzing noise during my recordings. My setup is the SM7B mic, CableCreation 10FT XLR Male to Female Cable, Cloudlifter CL-1, CableCreation 3FT XLR Male to XLR Female Cable, and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) connected directly to my iPad Pro 2018. Do you have any idea of what is causing the noise? Thank you.

      First thing to look for is if any of your wiring is touching lighting. Lamps, LEDs, fixtures, anything like that. That will create interference. Beyond that, make sure your gain levels are not too high. Hope that helps.

      I did see a solution to it where you screw in the thread adapter into the mic arm by itself and then screw the mic into the thread adapter that is already on the boom arm and it makes it tight to the arm. I tried it myself with a different Shure mic and it worked perfect.

    • @LaneSebringlive

      SM7B is a very quiet mic. It only pics up what is spoken directly into it. I don't have any issues with it picking up keyboard sounds, but I'm using the apple magic keyboard which is a quiet keyboard. Either way, it's designed to ignore a lot of sound that isn't directly spoken into it. i

    bro this video was almost TOO perfect. I have spent maybe 2+ weeks finding the following "Shure SMB7 podcast setup". this was the only video that made it this simple.
    question re how you edit your software, does focusrite come with something to edit audio or do you use something else?

    • @LaneSebringlive
      @LaneSebringlive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! I really appreciate that! Thanks for watching and sharing. I use Garageband to edit the audio which is a software that comes with any Mac. If you don't have a Mac, you can look into Audacity which, I believe, is a free download.
