There's always more Pearl Jam. You have to listen to Jeremy, Do the Evolution, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Yellow Ledbetter, and Even Flow

Taylor Swift’s “Death By A Thousand Cuts” live from Paris video. It’s acoustic, great lyrics, she looks and sounds great…so I think you’ll really like it.
They NEED to bring it back!! Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam. This album was the soundtrack of High school! Black one of best songs ever. Could close my eyes and listen to his voice for days!!! Legend. Know u must do more Pearl Jam!!! Alive, Evenflow, Betterman, and MV if Jeremy a masterpiece! ❤✌️
Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, and Layne Staley of Alice in Chains are widely considered to be the “Big Four” of Grunge music. Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots was another big voice of the era.
@@soude85 Yeah, it was mostly born out of the resentment for Nirvana I think 😄 The grunge movement took a lot of attention away from the bands that were big at that time (like Guns 'n Roses etc.). Ed was suffering from a head cold during this performance, and his voice is still incredible. Ed, Chris, and Layne are all legendary vocalists from this era.

@@khills I moved to Oregon in 90, got to see most of the bands on club/theater circuit on the cheap $5-15. It was a special moment in time and a great one to be 21 😂
I'm glad you're reacting to the MTV Unplugged version of this. That was one of the greatest ways to experience bands back in the day. Wish it was still a thing.
The reason for all the movement in the chair is because they weren't allowed to get up on Unplugged. You can see the struggle to stay in the seat was real for Eddie
Eddie Vedder saved me from seriious harm. Iin 1993 I went to see them as a 16 year old. During the concert the crowd moved forward and i got trampled. I was on the floor and people were standing on top of me. Ed saw what was happening and called to rhe audience to get me up. I was crowdsurfed over to security with nothing more than a few bruises. This was even before Roskilde, and only when that happened, I realised how lucky I had been.
Eddie Vedder's voice has one of the most interesting voices. Pulls me right in every time. Appreciate your reaction and the variety of musical artists you're reacting to over and above rap. I always appreciate your perspective.
MTV Unplugged... should have called it Midas, 'cause almost everything it touched turned to solid gold. Pearl Jam is one of the big four Grunge bands from the early 90s, all of which shared one thing in common: each had a once-in-a-generation sort of voice leading them - Kurt Cobain for Nirvana, Layne Staley for AIC, Chris Cornell for Soundgarden, and here Eddie Vedder for Pearl Jam.
I have been into this BAND since the very beginning. Eddy's voice is so overpowering that people often overlook the band, who are beyond belief. Cheers
If you want to see a good live performance w8th Eddie "standing up," "Even Flow" is great. I highly recommend the official music video for "Jeremy," which is no longer censored as it was in the 90s. It's in part about a real boy who was bullied until he sh0t himself in front of his class. Mind you, this was years before Columbine. Pretty much anything from their MTV Unplugged is worth a listen, especially "Alive." Still touring, and still awesome live.
Eddie has such a unique voice, no one sounds like him. I can tell a song is a Pearl Jam song even if I've never heard it before, just by hearing his voice.
The song itself is gorgeus, but Ed's voice and raw emotion in this performance just takes it to a whole other(wordly) level. If you'd take some suggestions for Pearl Jam: Jeremy, the official ucensored video for the music and the message, and Porch live at Pinkpop '92 for the sheer lunacy of the live show (still an amazing song). Lots of love Knox!
This is the best version of Black you could have possibly watched! I was lucky enough to be at their concert in Philly April 29, 2016 when they played the entire Ten album front to back. Amazing night I will never forget.
It's not just his fantastic voice, but his mannerisms, how he uses his hands, and facial expressions, as well, putting it into a package as a play, telling a story, or, as you say, a beautiful piece of art! This guy simply amazes me. Everybody loves him! He's so humble, and is also really great at doing covers, i.e. U2's "One"!
You know how sometimes songs just pop in your head, *this* is always the song that hits me. There's so many great songs, all the Ten album, Better Man, Daughter, Yellow Ledbetter, Just Breathe, Last Kiss and so many more. Duets with other artists, (Chris Cornell) Temple Of The Dog's Hunger Strike was Eddie's first studio recording, before Pearl Jam formed.
I have tickets to see them again this year and cannot wait! What a band! If you fancy it, check out Better Man live at Madison Square Garden. I don't think there's much better then hearing an epic crowd take over a song. It's amazing!
I love this song soooo much. This song always makes me I cry. So much anguish in his voice. This part gets me every time. “I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Why can't it be mine”

For me... this song is the greatest piece of poetry written in my almost 60 years of life. Lyrical brilliance that makes you feel the pain of a breakup in a way that no other written words have ever done... that I know of.
We had some pretty amazing talent in the vocalist department around this time. Eddie Vedder in Pearl Jam, Layne Staley in Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell in Soundgarden (then Chris did some awesome stuff with Audioslave). And all of those bands (as well as Curt Cobain in Nirvana) knew how to write fantastic music with poetic and profound lyrics when they wanted to. I think you would appreciate hearing Eddie Vedder performing the song he did for the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary concert/album. He did “Masters of War” and it is sooooo good! It would also be great to see you dive into some more Alice In Chains. Unlike most people, I do not recommend the Unplugged versions of these. To me, watching Layne was just sad and he lacked his usual power. We were watching a dead man walking on that show. Just go with the regular video or album versions instead. Some good ones to get you started are: Rooster Down In A Hole (talk about some poetic lyricism…this definitely has that in spades) Would? Them Bones Rain When I Die
If the emotional performance of Eddie doesn’t smack you in the face then you have no soul. OMG he delivered that song like he was living it in the moment. Amazing!!!
Great reaction! PJ’s amazing, Eddie Vedder’s the last of the major 90’s grunge lead singers left. Please also check Chris Cornell’s covers of Billie Jean & Nothing Compares to you. Along w/ the many many other music from Nirvana, Pearl Jam & Soundgarden

Love your insight on song lyrics and I couldn't wait to hear you analyze this one! Wish you dig a little deeper cuz these lyrics are brutal. Deep, painful, dark, heartbreaking lyrics but so perfect. Eddie pours 100% emotion into it and you can tell it's still a tough song to perform emotionally. The one line that makes the whole song "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star. In somebody else's sky, buy WHY? WHY CANT IT BE MINE?" We belong together! 😢😢
I remember seeing Eddie Vedder in Orlando in the 90's as an up abd coming band with this album but until I heard this version of Black I had no frigging idea of how good and deep his song writing and singing were. WOW

It would also be great to see you dive into some more Alice In Chains. Unlike most people, I do not recommend the Unplugged versions of these. To me, watching Layne was just sad and he lacked his usual power. We were watching a dead man walking on that show. Just go with the regular video or album versions instead. Some good ones to get you started are:
Rooster
Down In A Hole (talk about some poetic lyricism…this definitely has that in spades)
Would?
Them Bones
Rain When I Die
your incredibly quick lyric analysis always lets me understand these old songs I love even more
If the emotional performance of Eddie doesn’t smack you in the face then you have no soul.
His voice is so breathtaking and beautiful. Pearl Jam has some of the most raw, striking, and haunting songs from the era of grunge. I never get tired of listening to them, all the way back to the 90’s to now. Great song and reaction choice from the Patreon requester. ❤️💔❤️
One of the best life performances ever made in history. And also one of the very best endings with absolutely no bullshit involved.
I remember seeing Eddie Vedder in Orlando in the 90's as an up abd coming band with this album but until I heard this version of Black I had no frigging idea of how good and deep his song writing and singing were. WOW
Knox, take a dive into the pearl jam rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed!
i was in my 20's and knew of pearl Jam and heard this on the radio but it never really grabbed until now seeing the live performance - its unlike anything else live ive experienced before
Love the rock/ metal reactions, can we please get a Coheed and Cambria reaction?
Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! Please! Love Coheed and Cambria!
Oh my god yes, hype
Listen to more of these guys they’re the best
Would love to see you check out their new stuff someday, Dark Matter is such a banger
You have no idea just how long I've been patiently waiting for you to react to this, ever since you reacted to Jeremy, I've been waiting for it (pretty sure I even suggested it at the time). I saw the video, then channel, insta-click & like! LET'S GOOOO!!!! This song is DEEEEEEEEEP and so packed with emotion!!
I can't believe you've never heard of this band. This is one of my favorite bands in the mid-90s
