Hi guys, today you're in for a treat! Get 30% OFF on your first Mrs. Quilty subscription box using de code: SANDY30: mrsquilty.com/discount/Sandy30?redirect=%2Fproducts%2Fmrs-quilty-subscription-box& And let's settle this, is it herringbone or chevron? You tell me!
I was taught that ripping the fabric on the crosswise green is one way to ensure that you get a straight line on the grain. I still do it to get my fabric straight before I cut with the rotary cutter.
Hi Sandy. Your enthusiasm is contagious!!! I just discovered your channel and have subscribed. Everyone needs the joy that you share. Grateful to have found you. Hugs from Canada.
Oh wow their fabric is awesome. The combination is so cheerful. I love quilt as you go. And using the backing as binding. Would make a cute baby quilt.
I recently found your podcast and enjoy watching your creativity. I am a garment seamstress and now want to learn to quilt. I decided to get the Quilty subscription box. Thanks for the discount coupon. I can't wait to start a project.
I started ripping fabric to spare my arthritic hands. I think the seam allowances need to be deeper than 1/4", because the ripping definitely damages the fabric. And, dittoes on the self-binding. Another way I use to spare my hands.
Hi there! I get the same subscription boxes. The book that comes with the fabrics shows you what to do with the fabrics for that month and at the end of the year you will have enough blocks to make a entire quilt. 😊
I cannot afford subscription boxes. Instead, I have told all my friends and family they can buy me fabric anytime they want to give me a gift. My rules are simple. It must be 100% cotton and pick whatever you think is beautiful NOT what you think I would like. I have received some of the most beautiful fabric I would NEVER have chosen on my own. And they often get a return gift made with the fabric they gifted me. It's been an adventure!
It sounds like you're ready to dive into some exciting projects of your own! If you ever need any guidance or inspiration along the way, we're here to support you.🥰
Everyone seems to have an opinion these days, don't they!!!! You addressed these people's 'concern' with such positivity--and finality!!! Wonderful job--and yes I really liked your pillow/quilt, too! It could have become either, couldn't it? I'm definitely going to stop my lovely blue and white log cabin for a moment, and make an 18 inch pillow with some beautiful scraps! (It's always fun (and helpful) to use (get rid of) scraps!!!! HAVE A VERY FUN DAY!
Ripping Fabric: one does get a true straight of grain for sure... but I think using a rotary cutter would be better for 'lesser quality' fabrics that may not rip as cleanly; also, getting that exact 1/4" seam would be hard on a ripped fabric as the sides are fuzzy and uneven; but the sound of ripping is enjoyable! I just would never do it! It is all about which camp you are in (press open or to the side... rip or rotary... etc.) Pick a camp, and have fun!
For me it really depends on the projects, if it's something that requires precision to work, I won't think of ripping. If it's a free flow, more laid back project, I love to rip fabric 😀
Hello, I rip my quilt borders lengthwise but an inch or so wider than the finished border needs to be. On one side, I trim off the ragged edge, making sure any pulled threads are cut off. This is the edge which is sewn to the quilt. After my longarm quilter is finished, I trim the borders to the final measurement. This way ensures that no batting is beyond the quarter inch, which may happen during the quilting process. When ripping and trimming, I take into consideration any one-way designs and how these prints will be sewn to the top. If the print is meant to go in one direction, the top and bottom borders are ripped crosswise.
I found out about your channel this AM while watching Conquering Mount Scrapmore/ Brenda did a shoutout for your channel. I love this project with Mrs. Quilty's subscription box. The fabrics are lovely.
You have done a fabulous job at selling me this subscription box, at least for a several months. Your enthusiasm is very contagious ☺️ What did you use that quilt for? Thank you, Sandy! Regards, Elsie from Cary, NC
Hi! I just get very giddy when I sew and when I say I have a lot of fun, I mean it! I don't know if you follow me on Instagram but I've been doing an upgrade on my sewing corner and that table topper is perfect for it! You'll see it in future videos very very soon 😜
We're over the moon that you're excited about our subscription box. We hope it brings you months of joy and inspiration as you dive into your crafting projects!
That fabric is actually from our very first box! It's awesome to hear that you love it. If you decide to subscribe, you'll start with Box 1, so you'll definitely get to enjoy it!
@@CustomerSupport-MRQ hello I just received my first box and it wasn’t the fabric in this video and on top of that I only received 8 fat quarters… very disappointed because I was looking forward to getting the fabric shown in this video
Currently, we're shipping exclusively within the US. We're grateful for your interest and will certainly keep your feedback in mind as we continue to grow!
I got several of these prints on amazon several months before Christmas in a package of 20 fat quarters for 10 bucks so at least now I know this subscription box definitely isn’t something I need or even want for the amount they charge
We appreciate your feedback. Our subscription is designed to offer more than just fabric - each month, subscribers receive carefully curated projects with step-by-step instructions and extra goodies, providing a unique crafting experience. We'd love the opportunity to wow you with our monthly surprises!
Keep ripping! I know there's other ways to find the grain but it never fails I end up with straight side. You see how bad the store cutting is or the printing when you rip.
I have been sewing for 55 years tearing fabric destroys the first inch on that edge. I know you don't care but really....love your videos but don't rip❤
Thank you. 😁 I won't lie,. sometimes I'm a little bit conflicted about it. I just love the feeling though but more and more I've been using the rotary cutter because of that.
Even after you ironed I can still see how distorted your fabric strips are. It does not look well done for all the work put into it. If you like to rip, do it with rags...
Pretty sure her happiness is quite evident. In fact, it’s infectious. I am extremely thankful to have seen this, I’ve got a broken shoulder. I never would’ve thought just to rip and go, now I can sew for pleasure again. Being unable to use the rotary cutter has really cut into “me time” sewing. Everything takes a lot more time and limits are a necessity for healing as an adult. My 2 daughters and I love to clear scraps with wall hangings in the summer, this is a perfect solution. They’ll be so excited. Thank You!
We completely understand your desire for more fabric options. We're excited to share that we offer an extra fabric add-on option, giving you more flexibility to tailor your subscription. Additionally, you'll be glad to know that we have fat quarter bundles available for separate purchases on our website, offering even more variety. And if you prefer a smaller commitment, our Mini subscription provides 16 fat quarters monthly. We're all about providing options that suit your preferences perfectly!

So do I! Occasionally, the fabric is printed so wonky, it doesn’t work so well🤨
Chevron

Ripping is therapeutic! I love it when I can rip
Yes!!

Love from Canada!!

This is my favorite pattern and being impressive makes it look like a lot of work. Easy .
Yes! Looks so much more complicated than it is!
That's the best of both worlds. 😊
Thank you so much! So glad I accidentally found you! This is a great quilt as you go project for my class of 8 -12 year olds!!!
Love that! Welcome! 😊
Me too. Love the fabrics, but the quilts are very small. What do you do with them.
@@nancycoates4582 this is a table topper that is on my sewing space. Sometimes I hang them on the wall or I make pillow covers, etc.

Love ripping fabric 😅 it gives you the true straight of grain of the fabric. Love the fabric but I can't buy for now. Great video. Have a great week 😊
Thank you, you too!
I rip. Much straighter and that “first inch” comes back to play when ironed. I do use steam and starch. Perfect every time…. Just my 10 cent’s worth.

Didn't know that, thank you ☺️ and welcome
I must of missed it, but how much overage do u allow for the binding? Needless to say, I am new to quilting
Hi! That's great, you'll have so muxh fun! At least 1 inch all around, I usually prefer to leave 1.5 and fold more just to be safe. Happy quilting!
Love the fabric!
It's so cute!!
Thrilled you love it! 💖✂

beautiful, I love it
Can you iron that as you go so everything lays flat? And do you have a starch? Thank you for sharing.
Yes, ironing as you go is very important for this kind of project. I've never.worked with starch, have to try it.
Really pretty. 😊
Love it!
That's fantastic to hear! If you haven't already, we encourage you to give it a try! 😍
I clicked to learn how to make a new favorite quilt and this was NOT that in any way. Just an ad.
It is there, it takes a few minutes, it’s a cute and easy as pie pattern.
It's buried in the description that this video was sponsored. She should have stated that openly in the video.
The shipping kills getting these boxes!
We’ve got you covered! We also offer prepaid plans with free shipping, so you can enjoy your boxes without worrying about the shipping costs.

@CustomerSupport-MRQ has this issue been solved? Thank you
Is there a way to get the one you want..not a surprise.
I think there's a sequence to the boxes.
The box sounds interesting, but unfortunately I can't find any information on the website about whether it will be sent to Europe.

Ripping freaks me out!
This was basically an eight minute ad.
Yup and for sub quality fabric I quit mrs quilty I want quality not shoddy

I vote for the non-ripping...makes me cringe! Noooooo. There are other ways to find the grain.
I know! But it's so freeing! 😁
Keep ripping! I know there's other ways to find the grain but it never fails I end up with straight side. You see how bad the store cutting is or the printing when you rip.
Yap, it's wo annoying, particularly when I buy a specific amount of fabric for a project only to find out when I get home it's all wonky
