I had to reach out to you after watching. I know it probably sounds silly, but seeing how casually you ripped those blocks apart meant so so much to me. I made a quilt top years ago, and it was crooked. I was so disappointed that I folded it up to deal with later and never picked it up again. But you so casually were like, 'darn' *rip*. It showed me how silly my disappointment really was, and that I should just take it apart and do it again. Thank you. ❤
Love! Love! Love! I never would have dreamed of putting all those dark fabrics in a block. You are so creative.....me, not so much. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy your videos.
I loved the fabric colors and and pattern style you sewed them in. It turned out beautiful. Would love to see the finished quilt. Curious to see the back fabric and binding. In keeping with the dark moody feel of the blanket I wouldn't have used any white. Maybe a grey colored fabric? 😊
Is it the camera? I don't see any black. I just see a variety of blues going to midnight blue. That purple fabric seems like a throw away to make it to 10.
Well, I bought black and they looked black enough when the pack was shut... But then, as it turns out, they're much bluer than the listing anticipated...not as blue as they look on camera though...
I don’t like dark fabrics either. They don’t have a place in my happy little world! The first thing I thought when I saw the fabrics was oooh a reverse stained glass window. I’m currently working on a wonky-ish half log cabin quilt with 80 finished blocks. I’ve made 3 “mistakes” similar to yours so far and I already decided the first one will go in the bottom center spot. How many more I end up will determine where the rest of them will go. I refuse to take them apart. Great quilt.
That turned out great. The first thing I thought of when I saw your fabrics was stars. Ohio start, sawtooth star etc. Goodness Sandy, if you and I were in the sewing room together a some time the sound of fabric being unpicked would be deafening! haha. My unpicker is my best friend and I have several around my sewing room and sewing trolley for when I go to my sewing guild days. I love your adventurousness and imagination. You are a breath of fresh air.
@@seweasybysandy I want you to know, you are an enabler! I watched your video, and went straight to Amazon and ordered the fabric! Supposed to be here tomorrow!
The painter in me who’s also into color theory cringed at your saying monochromatic isn’t fun. These also aren’t monochromatic because there are variations from blue to green in these blacks but I watched through because I like watching you work and quilting is such a fascinating process to me. Edit: clearly I didn’t watch all the way through before posting because the one with the crystals is beautiful! Art is truly subjective 😂
I get what you're saying and as a beginner watercolor painter myself, I agree. But with quilting, or the way I do it, the lack of contrast is a really big deal and, in comparison, it's kind of boring hehehe
@seweasybysandy I ask because I bought a LOT of dark Alaskan fat quarters that I will make into something stunning. I'm glad you shared your dark fabric quilt top because it helped me kinda see what mine can look like and what I might choose . 😉
I'll have to measure how much I have left. As for the quilt block size, I knew each strip was 2.5 inches wide and so was the white square. I just removed all the 1/4inch seam allowances from my calculations and knew how much I would get.
It drives me crazy that you don't iron. I'd iron right after receiving the material. And I'd iron after each new piece was seen together. I'd definitely iron before showing the completed block to others. 😊
This was a tough one! But a lot of fun too!! What would you do with these fabrics?
Me too all blues
I love the dark quilt and your dog!!!
Thank you! Tommy appreciates it too 😁
Thank you, you just showed me a new way of cutting and sewing a log cabin

I love it and so glad to see that you rip apart blocks to I can never get a whole qiult top done without ripping
It's just needed sometimes... Not all fabrics can be ripped but for the ones who can, it's totally worth it!
That bundle is on my Amazon wish list too! Your quilt looks fabulous!
Thank you! It's a cute bundle
Well, it looked pretty good to me. You’re doing a good job and darks aren’t so bad if you pair them with light.
Thank you 😊
I usually don't use much black either, I love this concept, thank you, it's stunning
Thank you
This quilt would be great for all guys ... young and old
Yes, absolutely!
I loved the colors.i am so glad I watched. My grandson would love this and you have given me the idea and the courage to make it. It’s great!
Hi. Yes, it's a great option for boy/men quilts. Plus, it's a lot of fun 😊
thank you for sharing the process
I love the design you went with!

It's GORGEOUS! Thank you for being brave and sharing❤

I love the prints and different colors...but I must confess I am not seeing much black! To me they are a delightful mixture of the night sky!
True, they were not what I anticipated. Still pretty cute 🥰

Yes, probably a nice silver grey 🩶
Love it! O have been thinking about a similar quilt and debated if I should use the log cabin, but you convinced me 😜💖

I made a Smoke and Fire quilt. Black, gray, and black and white prints, with dark red snowball corners.

I love that idea, using the white for the star and the darks as a scrappy background
I like that very much

Night sky is a good sleeping quilt. )))) Maybe the white is a bit too bright for me. Soft blue would work.
Or light grey, that woul be stunning!
What's the name of the place that you buy your fabric
@@KarenElderfield-oq9zp it's a local shop called Bispos

thank you for sharing the process you chose for these beautiful fabrics

What did you do for borders and binding? A silvery grey, maybe? You are right. The white would be too much. Please share if you add more to it ❤

Check out Judy Gauthier for her monochromatic ideas. I found her books at the library
Thank you 🙂
could have added sashing between blocks and a boarder to turn it into a lap quilt
I considered it, yes. Totally different look though
I would of washed the fabric first but love the materials
Did you use all of the fabric from the bundle?
I used all 10 but I still have lots of fabric left
@@seweasybysandy, thank you. I was wondering if the quilt could be made bigger without adding more fabric. Thank you for your response.
Well that is a great idea. What size stitch length do you use.bayou ripped the seam so easily.
Hi. The stitch size is on the small size, I'm just really strong hahaha. Just kidding, I used the seam ripper to make it easier to come off.
How did you do the math to know how many blocks you could get out of the fabric you had to use? And how much fabric did you have left over?

I iron, I do a lot of things that don't end up in the final video 😃
Me too. I iron all seams as I go. Accuracy is easier when the fabric being cut has been totally flattened first.

I love black and always incorporate it into every quilt. 😁
