    I love these "tips". Even if I knew a few of them already it's great to be reminded and also see how to make use of "waste" instead of wasting it (though I used to compost them). Great clip!!!

    Brilliant teaching video! And thank you for re-directing how I roast vege-no oil! It works so well and they do taste so much better. I also peel ginger with a knife and use for tea. I live in Montana and in the winter ginger is my go to for keeping healthy.💕

    These are the best videos honestly. If you're cooking at home it can be hard to transfer what one recipe teaches you into another, especially if it's contextual. But these tips are universal and you can use them in any recipe.

    A key factor in safety for anything involving knives-- chopping food, slicing plastic, cutting boxes, anything-- *ALWAYS! HAVE! SHARP! BLADES!*
    This may sound odd. You may think, "how is making sure a blade is sharp going to keep me safe? won't it just cut me more easily?" _No._ A sharp knife is easier to control. When a blade is sharp, you don't need to put extra force or energy into what you're doing. The more force you put behind a cut or slice, the less control you have over the direction of the blade. And again, this isn't just a tip for cooking. I've been told this at just about every job I've had where I had to use anything as simple as a box cutter. Make sure any blade you're using for any cutting job is sharp. If it's not, sharpen or replace the blade.

    • @Kleyguy7
      @Kleyguy7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      assassintwinat8 still I have never cut myself with a dull knife just because it is often not sharp enough to make you blood that easily. Sharp blade is the other story.
      I like my knifes sharp, but this theory sucks.

    • @SuWoopSparrow
      @SuWoopSparrow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kleyguy7 Its not a theory, its the truth. I assure you putting a lot of force behind your cut to get through something with a dull knife will result in blood being drawn if it hits you, unless youre using a hammer.

    • @assassintwinat8
      @assassintwinat8 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kleyguy7 It's not "theory," it's proven fact. Statistics show that you're far less likely to injure yourself with a dull blade than with a sharp one.

    • @Kuchenrolle
      @Kuchenrolle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@assassintwinat8 And what statistics are those? Can you cite any of them? How would that even be tested?
      I don't disagree with the notion that sharp knifes end up less dangerous (can confirm based on personal experience), but let's stay away from making up evidence, shall we?

    • @Kleyguy7
      @Kleyguy7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kuchenrolle you don't cut wood with this knife. Food is generally soft. You don't apply a lot of force even with a dull knife. Still - sharp knife can hurt you even when you touch it wrongly, dull knife - you can dance with that and nothing happens hah. Sharp knifes are a pleasure to work with but please don't say they are generally safer.
      When you chop carrot, you do it fast, no matter if you have a sharp or dull knife. And speed of a sharp knife is much more dangerous.
