My name is Isaiah Rivera and I have the highest officially tested vertical on the planet at 50.5 inches and am the co-founder of THPstrength, a company that focuses on vertical jump training for athletes.
What makes me a little different from most athletes that jump high is that I started with a pretty low vertical and documented my entire journey on this channel. Here is my journey in a nutshell:
14: Started working out to jump higher for basketball
16: Hit my first dunk and shortly after found out about the world of pro dunking
17: Trained like a madman and hit my first between the legs dunk
18: Entered my first professional dunk contest
19: Knee pain almost made me quit dunking
20: Met my coach John Evans, who helped me get rid of knee pain
21: Won my first international dunk contest
22: Tested a 48 inch vertical and started coaching full time
24: Tested a world record 50.5 inch vertical
The reason I make so much free content about jumping higher now is because it’s a resource I wish I would’ve had when I was in high school that would’ve prevented a lot of unnecessary mistakes and injuries.
My mission is to share my passion and love for dunking and training and to make dunking an officially recognized sport.
I hope that I can be an inspiration for your jump training and dunking journey,
Isaiah
Thanks man, honestly I feel like just messing around and trying to jump higher has increased my vertical. IM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 52 INCH FROM YOU MY BOY!

4 I'm looking forward to your 52 inch jump
Thanks big bro, you help me out alot just with this video.
Glad I could help!
Can you make a video on the proper technique for squats, power cleans, snatch. I’ve got very bad mobility 😅
Helpful video!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Keep Progressing!
this gave me a different mindset on leg day thank you bro
Can you do vertical jump training during a basketball season and how would it work? Would you train less intense?
First you have to do a needs analysis. And then decide to prioritize basketball, health, or jumping higher. Then plan training according to your goals
This should definitely have more likes!
You're like dunker version Andrew Huberman
I jump 31 inches. Not high.
My max squat is 360ibs.
I have cleaned 242ibs.
And my current bodyweight is 180 ibs.
So my question is why I jump low and what I can do to improve.
Do you have a list of the best bodyweight exercise to increase our vertical jump?
Thoughts on side delt exercises to look better even if they're not really specific to jumping.
Hey bro, I love these videos! If you could help out with timestamping the questions, it'll be very much appreciated!
I have been training vertical jump for the past 3 months, and while jumping has become easier and more elastic, there has been marginal improvement in my jumping reach. Is it a strength problem?
Just did the toughest workout of my life. Took an hour, but I BEAT THAT BARBELL TO DEATH! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Haha good stuff man
Thank you sirr
Ahcca thnku 😂
thank you
Very good video
What do you think contribute most for your ITBand Injury?
bro went in dept 😂
Name of exercise?
This hit me
what do you do after a day of working out plyometrics?

Hey Isaiah just a question I never saw you doing solely focused core workout? Aren't they important?
He trains without lifting belt so every squat, deadlift, power cleans trains the abdominals
Once you could handle your own body weight. Hit them weights!
i've been just lifting for a while, and a did like a 30 min jumping workout with just body weight and my legs are cooked 😹
How do you deal with shin pain? Any time I recover from shin splints and I start jump training again my shins start to break down and hurt. Please give any tips or solutions.
check kneesovertoesguy. or a tib bar
don’t tibialis raises help with that?
@@FullRevive7 I've tried them for a while but they dont seem to go away
Yo Isaiah, I don’t have a low rim to dunk on. The lowest I have is 9 1/2 and I can’t down payment. Should I buy a hoop that can go lower
Def invest in that!!
Do you try to get a certain amount of protein daily for recovery?
Question! Is it important to stretch after a session?
yeah its always good to stretch, also stretch before a session as like a warmup
I am in the third week of the three-week program, then it is a rest week and what should I do after?
Can you get stronger without calorie surplus with just taking enough protein?
I know you asked Isaiah. The protein level should support your bodyweight in that activity. If you need a little more muscle it would be a little more protein. If you are at your fighting weight and need to maintain, you would adjust your protein so it maintains that weight and is not a surplus.
Yes of course. Keep the calorie deficit not too big and make sure you get your daily protein intakes for your bodyweight. And ofcourse, keep training hard !
Quick question, so im 6'2 308lbs. Ive been going on a weight loss journey, i started the year out close to 350lbs. Even at my current size i can dunk, i notice ive been jumping higher due to weight loss. My playing qeight back in highschool was 215. So my question, how much higher can i expect to jump once i reach my goal weight of 215? Keep in mind, i am currently 308lbs and can dunk on a 10ft rim
as long as you keep your strength around the same you should see huge increases since jumping is about force to weight ratio. You keep the force the same but decrease your weight then you will jump higher. I saw this this about how in a perfect world where you lose weight and keep the exact same strength you can dead ass gain like 10 inches or something but I don't quite remember the exact number
Bro… you would FLY
Bro how can you dunk being that heavy lol. That's some amazing performance
@vanlight7826
Lol I wasn't always this big, had a back injury, and during the healing process, I put on a lot of weight. Once I healed up I started hooping again, but my diet became very poor. So as I continued to put the weight on I stayed active on the court
would depend on how much strength you lose when cutting all that weight.
but as another point, if you can really dunk that weight and height, that is insane. I want to see that!
What’s your broad jump bro
Im in Africa we don't have any technology we just train traditionally to jump higher
Can pylometrics harm growth in teens?
Plyo, sprinting, strength, all of these produce tons of growth hormones wich means it makes you grow taller (especially sprinting and jumping)
If u get good sleep and nutrition and reduce stress you re definetly going to grow
@@hugocerf.91 thnx, i saw that guy talking about it then i looked into it and there was mixed conclusions.
Started learning to increase vertical Ended by learning biology

Single digit body fat percentage is not sustainable.
olympics.
I've been in this shape 2+ years now bro and I feel like it's just part of life now. I eat A LOT of fruit. Constantly hydrated. Most days I'll have peanut butter or jam on toast + fruit and also a big lemon, honey, ginger and 🍓 tea. Lunch is 50/50 I either have it or I don't. When I do it'll be salt and pepper oven cooked chips 🍟 + fruit. Then dinner will be vegetables and chips or something. Or a big soup/veg stew with cashews. And some fruit. Then maybe a cake or something after.
I train mostly every night and then get to rest a lot in the day with what I do. Good quality sleep is key too.
But yeah I've never felt fitter, faster, stronger or more explosive. Some people say it's 80% diet 20% training...I'd say it's 50/50. Yeah you need the right fuel, but you need to still use it well. Hope that helps👊
Bro it's completely sustainable, just don't eat junk and WORK OUT! Also lots of veggies and low carbs. No alchohol, no smokes, no drugs. Plenty of protein for muscle growth. Lots of water.
it’s sustainable if you have a very active lifestyle, if you train like a body builder and don’t go do real stuff for hours then ofc it’s gonna be hard to restrict your eating heavily
Most people feel lethargic and have less energy trying to maintain less than 10% of body fat. I think 10-15% is more realistic. The body does need a certain level of body fat to function properly.
