I read his down to earth article. I also responded to it with some comments of emphasis on why people visit NYC. It is the city of lights, restaurants with the greatest and best diversity of world wide dishes, Broadway shows and musicals, street entertainment, tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world on a weekly basis. But it is gone and will be gone for a long time due to the shut down of the city. The crime in local areas that people liked to visit are now too dangerous for anyone living there and to visit. The governor is still licking his chops letting the world know how he has pretty much stopped the virus while still in every briefing blaming the President. The Mayor is so wrapped up in BLM that he can't see the forest through the trees, and how he has single handed supported their out of control activities and crime. Blames police for almost every arrest due to short videos not showing the whole story , like many states are now doing, and then talking about reducing their police forces. NYC will not recover from this ,for a long time due to the heavy handed local and state governments. I don't even have to mention the other states and cities that are in the same situation.

@@jamesdellaneve9005 I'm sorry, I was here when Giuliani was mayor and he literally started the entire gentrification movement. Rent skyrocketed, time square became Disney land, buses and train fair went up. They took away the kids free bus passes and started charging us partial fairs just to go to school and the kids who couldn't afford it had to walk miles to school. People think he brought in money for the city because of the tourist attractions but we loss all the artist in the lower east side and in the meatpacking district because it became a high end shopping area. All the folks in Long Island city had to relocate to make room for condos and skyscraping buildings. I remember my neighborhood being mainly Italians, black and latinos and slowly everyone was priced out and a bunch of asians came in. The italian mobster dudes left, the meat market left, the Italian restaurants left. It definitely shifted the ENTIRE city and NYC hasn't been the same since. The problem is NYC focused so much on luxury and catered to all these rich folks and forgot about the regular working class and now all these rich people are off to the hamptons and their Florida homes and now the working class sits here poorer than before. I'm a lifetime New Yorker, I watched the changes and I remember when it started. I would say around 1999 things definitely changed and after 9/11 it kept getting worse.
NYChick101 Yes. I understand that problem. Gentrification can’t happen when your city is a hellhole. NYC was a hellhole isn’t the 1970’s. Security is the first thing that is necessary for the possibility of prosperity. Rudy brought security. However, the murder rate was brought down by some 80%. That led to people wanting to open businesses, real estate people to invest in upgrading neighborhoods, etc. I don’t have an answer for you. Prices increase when security is established and normal people get priced out of their own neighborhoods. You can blame Rudy for setting the table for gentrification (security), but I don’t think that it’s fair for blaming him for the laws of supply and demand. Do you know the cheapest place in the US is? Detroit. You can get a home for nearly free. You also will have a challenge in NOT getting shot where that house is. I am rooting for Detroit. They seem to be trying hard to recover. Thank you NYChick101 for your most thoughtful response.

The coronavirus has exposed the failures of an omnipresent government, and that is a great thing. NYC will never return to greatness unless and until the voters vote out people like the Cuomos and de Blasio. NYS and NYC governments must be overhauled and rebuilt.

NY did have ventilators, that is actually a state responsibility. But Trump to the rescue. Now they have all they need. According to Como they didn't have enough hospital space. So Trump sent the Medical war ship with 4000 beds
Como sent old people back to old folks homes to die. Virtually
No bed space used on the ship.

It is the city of lights, restaurants with the greatest and best diversity of world wide dishes, Broadway shows and musicals, street entertainment, tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world on a weekly basis.

Spring is warmer with films, festivals and shows filling your calendar. The summers are hot and sunny, with plenty of activities including beach trips, festivals and outdoor concerts, while autumn brings the picture-perfect fall colors of changing leaves

Giuliani was trash
NYChick101 I didn’t live there and didn’t vote for him, but a lot of a Democrat’s did. Look at the data. The improvement was in the data.

@Mike F So gun laws cause shootings? Or how about "cities with lots of shootings usually try more legislation to fix the problem than cities with less gun violence?"
I'm 4generation New Yorker I live in one Apt for 52 years my landlord is trying to get me out...
Tell him to buy you a condominium where your maintenance fee is the same as your rent.
@jsst180 this asshole☝️
Move to NJ, get a free apt with Rapid Response...oh wait, only if you're a crackhead...NJ LOVES its crackheads!
A Republican mayor Made New York City one of the safest in the nation, and a Democrat mayor brought it to its knees
New Yorkers have been slowly leaving for awhile. I live in Philly and the amount of New Yorkers now here is ridiculous. But their number one reason for the move was cost of living .
A lot are moving to the south. There goes the south.
This is a conversation I'd be willing to have!
Translation:
This is a conversation we will never have.
Not once does he blame Cuomo & Big Bird & his Merry Criminals!
If he had, the interview would not have aired.
The news anchors must own a lot of property in New York.
why do nyers continue to vote for the likes of diblasio and cuomo
I guarantee you the leftist/dems in NYC still blame Trump for NYC turning into a dump.
Because they're stupid
i don't think anyone is voting for them....they are stealing the votes
@@MDinhh No doubt a mask-wearing and contact-tracking policy would have seen you in a better shape, but enjoy your unemployment and finger-pointing.
MDinhh they already are.
One man is speaking logically and factually, the other is speaking from emotions and feelings.
Optimists are the most dangerous types of persons in this situation.
THE PROBLEM IS YOUR MAYOR - HE IS A COMPLETE IDIOT AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RUN THE CITY.
So how does he stop looting and rioting? Think about how dumb you sounded just now...
Hamlock Maneuver that’s not the only problem. The mayor is killing tourism and his defunding of the police and showed a sky rocket in crime. There is no value in living in NYC if the amenities of a city no longer exist.
Yeah JustSayin’s comment didn’t address anything but he/she isn’t wrong. The mayor is terrible.
They are not idiots, they know what they are doing, they want the USA to become socialist.
Sounds exactly like our mayor here in London. Full of left wing bullshit and a total waste of time.
He is American. This is what America has become.
English is not my first language but this lady is telling everyone to put money in NYC in this very moment? I think she is crazy and has no idea what is going on!
Revenue to the city and state will drop as people and industry flee. Did the Mayor and Governor do this intentionally? I suspect, yes.
we're living a dystopian nightmare already
I wouldn't go there for any reason now. I used to love going to NYC. Way too dangerous now.
Rick Moranis killed a poodle and made a hair piece. This and more, tonight on PIX 11.
NICE!
😂😂😂
Was tjinking something like that 😆
BLM was fantastic for the city
This feels like short term thinking. By forever, he means at the moment.
They showed two spots. Go checkout the other videos of current NY and every street and every store is boarded up. I was in shock that for miles, everything is gone. There's a video of a guy driving around showing everything and for some reason the media is not showing this at all. Weird and scary.
News people should deliver facts and not emotions!
You got to face the adversity.
I hope this nightmare is over soon because otherwise it will change our lives forever!
Stay strong.
