us old schoolers know full well our stroker 125's would smoke any of these current bikes, legislation and restrictions changed the game, they do look cool and perform well enough, but an old 2stroke 125 is where it's really at.had an AR125 a little harder to de-restrict..but was a hoot to ride...now ride a zzr 1400....ride safe folks.

This is very true but you try finding one that isn't shagged to bits nowadays for reasonable money. New riders just don't have the skill or inclination to maintain the things unfortunately.

Can lean it, its hard as hell, suspension is shocking, the steering is impossible and it shakes the living shit out of you like a jack hammer. I bought my cbr Repsol brand new for my 50th birthday prezzie to myself. I'm 14 stone and I'm telling you on my kids' life, that bike down a slight bank with a bit tailwind would easily hit 84mph ringing it. It would happily cruise all day at 74.
Also as a side note, in 25k miles and the five years I had it, I was never once overtaken by a yzf.

I’ve got both Lexmoto lxr euro 5 model with 6 gears and KTM rc 125. I do prefer my Lexmoto over KTM as it’s heavier and it feels more stable on high speeds specially on a windy day and it handles like a big bike on turns, etc. I’m more confident in taking my Lexmoto on a dual carriageway than KTM. KTM’s top speed and my Lexmoto’s top speed are the same they both reached 75mph.
In regards to rust I think because KTM uses aluminium that’s why you can’t see much rust but as soon as I bought my Lexmoto I treated it with anti rust and kept it in the garage whilst not in use and had no issues with rust. The only issue I had was the ignition barrel got corroded due to Scottish weather which was replaced under warranty and since then I installed an ignition barrel cover which was bought from eBay and had no issues since. I don’t want to come across as a Lexmoto fan boy and I want to write more about my KTM but unfortunately it just feels standard bike for me and lacks the wow factor!

Better off just doing your cbt forget the 125 and just concentrate on the A1 - A2 OR Full access. Because in todays traffic a 125 just doesnt have the pulling power and i believe makes it more dangerous than jumping on a 600 because when alot of motorist are stuck behind a 125 reving like hell to keep up pace other motorist cant wait to vear past you making you feel very on edge especially when right on your tail. Once you can ride a 125cc safetly then a 600 is no different infact easier to ride. 50cc and 125cc are dangerous for todays roads. Most motorist drive according to the traffic around them and those small bikes just dont cut it.

All very well these manufacturing sports models aimed to appeal to young riders, but us newbies having a mid life crisis look out of place on them yet we're still restricted by archaic rules on 125cc limiting our choice. Looking at getting a 125 for commute to work at moment taking family car big 4x4 7 seater 30mile round trip. Seen the dukes out in flesh few times and like the look of them. Not interested in the super bike style in a 125 just doesn’t seem right to me. Plus I’m wrong side of 30 never been on a bike since I was a teenager messing around on scramblers
