Folks, thanks for the kind words! Two general remarks: 1. I can't add an air reservoir or Co2 because then it would be considered an air gun in Germany. Air guns are legal to own (if weak enough), but you need to be a master gunsmith to be allowed to make one. So I can't do that. A blow gun is exempt, but ONLY if it is muscle powered and no energy is stored. 2. The aiming is not hindered by the magazine. With a blowgun, you aim by looking at the muzzle end of the tube. You actually will see them TWICE, with the target right in the middle.
Germany should make a new law to allow people who register with the government as "amateur engineers" to be allowed to make devices for their own experimentation that they are only allowed to use on their own land. As long as the total energy of a projectile is under 40 (or maybe 50) joules, and they do not leave their land with it in an operable state. So if you take out the ammo and remove the "energy storage" system of the device, spring, bow limbs, CO2, air reservoir, etc. then you can transport the device. If someone is on the street with one, and it is in an operable state, they would have to pay a fine and have it confiscated by the police.
Spraying some Ballistol between the tubes should make it a little more airtight, which should make O-Rings unnecessary here. Another thing came to mind when you said no force can be stored legally; would it be possible to have some kind of air pressure piston that is muscle operated in a way where you have to use quite a bit of force, but then it releases all the pressure once some threshold of force is reached (but still without a real separate trigger)? So that only in the moment you finish pushing (or better yet, pulling) the piston, the pressure chamber is opened? Or maybe similar to those ring-style slingshots with a rubber pouch that you pull and then let go to fire, but for air instead. If you had such a mechanism, you could transform arm strength into instantaneous air pressure. Not sure whether that would make it into an airgun, though. But if it has no trigger, and is (air) spring operated, it would be a sling shot, no?
a small idea, if you have a rubber ring at the end if the inner tube (near your mouth), you can slam/press the outer tube against it, making a perfect seal, without the rubber having to move. This will solve the air-tightness of one side. I don't have a solution for the other side yet. But ill try to think of one.
Joerg! It sounds like you're not getting an explosive breath when you blow. Try using your tongue to make the air a little sharper similar to using a thumb on a garden hose. Also, a full dish shape mouthpiece might make a better seal than the type on the cold steel blowgun
You dont need o-rings to improve the seal, you can use headloss to decrease airflow trough the gaps. Some centrifugal pumps use this, just cut a bunch of grooves on the inside near the edges of the sliding tube (as if you were gonna put o-rings, but without them), or on the outside of the fixed tube. So air that is escaping trough the gaps fill these grooves and loose most of the pressure it had, creating an obstacle for the rest of the air that is coming behind it.

I'm surprised I've never seen a design like this for a blowgun, it's such a simple solution! I do remember maybe 10 - 15 years ago the Nerf modding community was experimenting with similar nested tubing breech systems to shoot their foam darts. There was a popular design called an Angel breech that could feed Nerf darts from a magazine in a similar way, but it relied on stored air to propel the darts rather than lung power. The Nerf community also loves blowguns but surprisingly I don't think I've ever seen them combine the two ideas. I'm sure somebody's gonna be inspired to try it with Nerf after seeing your video.
brilliant. I thought about a revolver kind of magazine, which you just rotate a bit squeeze it to get it air tight blow and rotate again. But this one has way less moving parts. awesome

You seem like such a cheerful person that it would be sad and strange to hear you be bent out of shape about copycats not paying you or something like that. For O-rings, I am sure you have already considered many iterations but I think an o-ring mounted around the barrel at the base of the magazine at the mouth-end and an o-ring mounted on the shroud at the fire-end might work so that you are not trying to rub a tight o-ring over the opening repeatedly. What a great design you have!

The logical (last) iteration will be to attach a air pressure container and a trigger. (in approximate 1,5 years, if Jörg stays interested in this kind of home defense weapon).
Joerg, this is such a smart design! It is not very complicated, meaning that it has fewer parts that can break or fail and fixing any malfunction would be quite easy for the end user. Make sure you get the patent on it!

That's actually a really clever design. Really, really clever, yet incredibly simple. And as already mentioned, a fun way to make yourself lightheaded and possibly unconscious with a large enough magazine, lol. But in all seriousness, that really is a brilliant design.
I think this concept is a winner and will be fully functional in a short amount of time due to its simplicity. What I would like to see happen to challenge yourself is to have multiple, attached "magazines" that can be swapped on the fly. The concept being that if the tips were poisoned you could select levels of lethality based on the situation.
I just wanted to mention that I saw that they used the 'Adder' crossbow as the murder weapon in the new film 'The Blackening'. Congrats on getting such wide exposure.
I wonder how many shots you can do before hyperventilating & fainting? :D But gotta love your crazy (& damn fine) ideas & reinventions of old technology. Love the channel!
you forever impress me with your talents on figuring out how to make things work, got to say you hit this one out of the park. 👍 maybe just a idea, i wonder if there's a way to do a co2 version for those who cant breath in as much air?? take care my friend
Joerg you are the man not only have you made a great contribution to Archery you made us all laugh with your great sence of humor thank you very mush you make the world a better place BAN ALL PLYWOOD IMMEDEATELY :-) :-) :-) :-)
Using co2 or compressed air as your power source rather than the human lung would make this a fantastic dartgun. Pump action and silent. Plinking, ratting, maybe fishing since blow gun fishing darts are a fun way to catch anything from small fish to alligators.
Ive thought about this quite a bit as well but your idea is way sleaker then the things i came up with. And mine stayed as thoughts because im not really a builder. My though process was simmilar to the operation of a PKM russian belt fed machine gun. You have ammo that is pulled back from the belt, drops down into a space and then is pushed forward into an airtight space. But working with a belt is way more effort and way clunkier than the thing you cam up with.
So I can think of a few improvements. 1: You could add an "S" bend pipe in the mouthpiece. This will allow you to inhale quicker because you're not worrying about accidentally inhaling the dart. 2: Alternatively, you could have a ring that stops the munition from sliding backwards past a certain point. Then, you could have the mouthpiece open into a wider blowing chamber. This would allow you to blow air into the gun far faster, and the air would speed up even further when it's compressed by entering the narrower passage where the dart is. 3: You could make a version that loads round ball shot, instead of darts. This would be far easier to make, and would store much more ammo given the same space. 4: You could add a rubber band to the slider. That way, you can simply slide it forward, and it'll slide back on its own. This will also significantly reduce the chance of user error. Those are just the thoughts I had while watching the video. Great Idea, and pretty good execution for a first try. I wouldn't have even known where to start.
Unbelievably, a blow gun is fully illegal to own in the uk unless you have a reason like it being an antique or of historical interest of something like that. Yeah that's right, technically pea shooters carry prison time here.
you are a genius my brother m you have done it again , a very cool invention ! i have several blowguns from 36 inches to 12 feet lol , when the need arises , i install my 8 shot revolving piece in between the mouth piece and the blowgun tube !!! i simply rotate the mag for my next shot !!!
What the Old weapons Pros used to do was add a bicycle CO2 pump this is a huge deal because of the video where Tim Wells takes a black there with blowgun. Outstanding job.

Nice to see you developping new products! It definitely needs a clip for fast loading!
Wow! I am a big blow gun fan and make them myself but this is on another level! Please do bring this to production! Can't wait!
I just wanted to mention that I saw that they used the 'Adder' crossbow as the murder weapon in the new film 'The Blackening'. Congrats on getting such wide exposure.
Great concept. I haven't used a blowgun since the 80's
I really hope they youre getting some payback by others from your concepts!
With a simple spring you have created a brilliant mechanism, well done
You are a genius, Joerg! Thank you.
When they hear that "ckick Clack" of my blowgun, they know its about to go down. 🤣
You can get a reaming and mallet set that tapers and sizes pipe to very specific tolerances. A little film of oil or water could seal the pipe.
Splendid invention. Marvelous channel.
I am absolutely interested in the blow gun and your ideas to make it self feeding!
I wonder how many shots you can do before hyperventilating & fainting? :D But gotta love your crazy (& damn fine) ideas & reinventions of old technology. Love the channel!
you forever impress me with your talents on figuring out how to make things work, got to say you hit this one out of the park. 👍 maybe just a idea, i wonder if there's a way to do a co2 version for those who cant breath in as much air?? take care my friend
the mechanisms arent anything spectacular. he is just the first to apply it in this way.
Yes I would love one! I have been a fan since 2011 and love to see what you make next and all of its features. Lol! Keep making the world awesome!
Now this is exciting stuff....so simple, yet so elegant!!
Joerg you are the man not only have you made a great contribution to Archery you made us all laugh with your great sence of humor thank you very mush you make the world a better place
BAN ALL PLYWOOD IMMEDEATELY :-) :-) :-) :-)
I do love it Mike from Arizona yer awsome young man.
Du bist einfach ein ausgebuffter Tüftler. Genial, ich bin tief beeindruckt.
Brilliant solution. Thank you so much for another perfect video.
have been watching him since begin, damn this man is one of the greatest engineers of all big thumbs up for you Jörg! 🤘
I wouldn't have even known where to start.
great development, very much appreciate your ingenuity!
Jörg du bist der Hammer! Würde gern wissen wann der Interceptor Armbrust bei dir in Shop erhältlich ist?
Outstanding job.
very clever! thst little sllot for the point was a smart move, not to mention the little rubber flap used as a shot interrupter.
This is going to be a must have in the amazon rainforest !
