One of the best tiny desk concerts. The rapport he has with his band is so cool. You can tell they have a lot of fun on the road.

Anderson Paak and The Free Nationals have known each other for years, always a pleasure when they colab.
the real fun thing about the bands performance is the more you get to know the songs and the more you watch them play you see that anderson keeps trying to throw the band off. its really funny when you catch them starting to sing along and he changes it up to f with them. it was like 7 in the morning and thyre obvs hungover or very baked 🕶️ and he was putting them thru it🤣 but we dont even notice. thats how good they are together

The Free Nationals have their own album with Paak in it here and there. It's just as good as his own work!

Sick reaction! Someone in the crowd shouts out for them to play Suede, thats why he says "you like being called bi***es?". The song is from his collab with the beat maker Knxwledge. Together they're called Nxworries. Some of my favourite Anderson Paak stuff is Nxworries, you should check em out:)!

Athe singers back in the day had the ‘rasp’. Perhaps Ruff was most popular of the bunch, but Otis Redding, LeRoy Stubbs of Four Tops, O’Jay’s Eddie LaVert & his late son Gerald, Bobby Womack, Wilson Picket, & so many forget that even at 13, Jermaine Jackson was a raspy voice singer, more than smooth, yet he was a mature stylist even at a young age. He actually developed a smoother sound as he aged.

You girls from Toronto? You sound like it. I was never really into this kind of music until I seen these dudes on NPR. I was floored by their musical talent and in particular Paaks drums all while singing and rapping at that calibre. Thats so freaking hard to do. This guys got talent for days and his bandmates are sick too.
You girls should also check out Thundercat and Turnstiles set on here. Change of pace but good too.
