My goodness, these tiny desk concerts were an absolutely brilliant idea. Justin's vocals are aging really well.
BRILLIANT. I was just saying this to my cousin today. They have found the perfect recipe for acoustic concerts.
AND…the mixing engineer mixes every single Tiny Desk performance with great precision. They all sound amazing.
I’m not gonna lie, vocally, Justin is still very much in shape.
I honestly think he's better. He's mature, we can see he studied his voice throughout the years and knows exactly how to use it.
@@evelynoliveira922I wemt back and watched some older performances. He was always good, but you're beyond right. This is his best vocals have sounded to me. The falsetto is even stronger and he knows EXACTLY when to go from chest to head in a way this feels more intuitive now.

Justin is a performer through and through & he’s so entertaining to watch no matter what medium he’s performing in. He’s super seasoned but still appears enthusiastic when he’s performing. Fun to watch! Enjoyed him & your breakdown as always.

Jaron is a vocal scientist. I've never heard a vocal teacher explain things in such great detail.
I'm glad you did Justin because his voice has always been different so to see the technique behind it was great. He really does have great vocal moments and is kind of underrated vocally. He sounds great live and acoustic.
He runs around singing and dancing for 3 hours and is consistent. I have always been impressed!
I spoke with my wife about JT's vocal technique a few weeks ago.
the way he flawlessly moves from chest to head voice. Hits the highs and then goes down. Vocally, I think his latest album showcases his underrated vocal prowess; because he does it in a way that compliments the music than more of a "hey look at what I can do!"... he just executes it so well
His musicality is highly under-appreciated. He knows when to do the most and when to pull it back.
Your energy/knowledge/teaching is EVE-RY-THING.
I'm a singer myself and was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2022. It has deeply affected my voice and still trying to manage and make it work. Your videos, have seriously given me the energy and support to STILL keep singing.

I love Justin’s voice! I think it’s so unique and I think it’s only gotten better as he’s gotten older!
I love this analysis - it really makes me understand what it is that I’m enjoying when I hear him sing. One of the things I love about Justin is like when he sings, it’s like he is one with the music, like he IS the music.
I really like these Tiny Desk concerts. The singers, who are already creative, get a chance to be even more so. And we get to see their personalities shine through. Plus their background singers and the musicians are just as talented as the person whose music is being highlighted. One of my all time favorite singers is Lisa Fischer. She was a background singer Luther Vandross and Sting. And she has said she likes being a background singer. But she is also incredibly talented and has a beautiful voice with an amazing range.
Over the last 15-16 years since its conception, Tiny Desk has broadcasted some of my absolute favorite musical performances since it asks artists to think out of the box for their songs. Originally, it focused on giving a spotlight to Indie artists, but I'll (somewhat reluctantly 😉) admit it's been fun over the years watching mainstream artists adapt their music for the show.
I agree! Lisa Fischer is a BEAST!! She sang at Luther’s concert and brought the house down. I love Tiny Desk - if you are a studio artist, you can’t be on here. You’ve got to have the skills to come on here.

Man, you are the best voice expert on this platform. For a few years after college, I had voice and
piano students. That was a long time ago. My career went in a different direction. I still remember the techniques, the vocabulary and the methodology. Listening to you break down a performance brings me back. You have clearly forgotten more than I ever knew but I can follow lol.

I’ve loved Justin’s voice since *NSYNC, they have the best 5 harmonies together. JT alone is great but his voice with the other 4 guys, especially JC’s, I just 🫠 Justin is amazing live, I can’t wait to him in May

This helped me appreciate his voice a bit more, I always found it pretty nasal and pretty high but it does seem to have a lot more warmth and roundness

JT is a master of his craft. From creating the track, lyrics, to singing, performing and incorporating his band. (I can't stess enough that him and his band is absolutely killer together). He is the full kitchen sink, and a master at it. He's been one of my favs since 1998 and he's just gets better and better and better as time goes on. Sooooooo far better than most of these pop artists today that get over played on the radio(no names mentioned!)

I can feel your passion for the work you do! Things that I noticed about this magic JT set, but couldn't really put words to, you've articulated beautifully. For example: when you grab that imaginary string above your head and pull up, bringing posture into alignment... it's like I knew that but hadn't realized it yet.

About the song Selfish, I think the Tiny Desk version (probably the stage version too) is the better version.

I’m sure he will and when he does, I’m gonna scream from pure joy and excitement. I love Halle’s voice and how she is being branded. Like I can sang, but I’m an ethereal hot mother. And this is only the beginning for her. She is a breath of fresh air.

While there were some sharps and few out of tune notes here and there, this is still a every good performance. One of his better ones lately. He still has good ones there but this one is his best since the album and single release.
