  • In honor of Juneteenth and in celebration of diversity, I thought what better way than to bring one of my favorite singers to the channel: Bruno Mars. This collaboration between Bruno and Anderson .Paak to form Silk Sonic is new to me, and I am super excited to see where this goes. Something, something, something, lovemaking and convincing their lover to stay? Hmmm. . . okay!
    Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak's collaboration Silk Sonic perform "Leave the Door Open" in their debut music video.

      Hi. I don't listen to radio much, but I happened to catch this song the other day and I am, well, totally obsessed, I grew up in the 70's and AM radio had so much impact on my life. I hear a song and I time travel to a nice memory from my childhood. What is great about this tune is that it bridges a divide between generations, maybe 3. Youngsters today call it retro. I call it bliss. I really feel the music. And I can tell by your reaction that you also pick up on that smooth 70's soulful pop sound. Your energy is amazing and your knowledge of vocals is superb. Please consider analyzing a band named "Toby Beau" who had a top 10 called "My Angel Baby in '78. Their 2nd album had several amazing songs Including a Lulu remake) that never hit the charts, but I remember hearing those songs growing up in Galveston all the time. Anderson Paak is also a song writer and
    a record producer!!!!! Also, "lalala" and "wowowo" were main staples of 70's song! Hence, the reason it was in this song as they
    are paying homage to 70's music!!!

    You'll love the Grammy performance of this one AND the more recent one on the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
    For extra credit you should check out .Paak's Tiny Desk concert, the most viewed in the series.
    Fun fact: All the clothes and shades in this video are from Bruno's "Ricky Regal" clothing line with Lacoste.
    Also, the mystery "rain stick" was guitar but the guitarist in the video isn't playing it. However, Bruno is credited as playing guitar on this recording (not keys) so perhaps he added that part later.

      My old choir teacher took me from being a solid baritone to competitively singing at the 1st tenor spot. I definitely don't have the abilities that Bruno has, but it reminds me a lot of what my old teacher told me to achieve better range. He told me constantly that a good head voice is basically a developed and powerful falsetto. Of course he would always make me do warm ups by starting low and doing arpeggios going up in range. But, the more important drills he had me do were starting high in my head voice and doing arpeggios going down and he would want me to stay in my falsetto/head voice as long as possible going down. He always said that drill was much more important to my range than those that started low and went up.

That's an experience that's extatic...thx for this! All the best from the Netherlands

    One more thing I want to mention is, this is true song writing. From the far from typical chords progressions and modulations in today's music, this is what is sadly missing currently. I wish we would embrace this more today. Music has gotten so soulless and surgical now.

    • @NickNnight
      @NickNnight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NickNnight 😊 actually I listen to a lot of stuff that doesn't sell or become popular. You know, real music that isn't shitty and waiting to be forgotten. My point was, we used to appreciate real musicianship and song writing more than we do now. Maybe next time you should think about it before you insinuate someone is an idiot. 🤔🙂

    • @Spacedancer747
      @Spacedancer747 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The qualities you’re mentioning, in terms of songwriting, are the influence of jazz chord progressions, which worked their way into R&B and soul.
      Basic rock, and roots stuff, and laminated those extended cords, and kept with basic progressions. When Rap started, it was really just poetry with beats. The poetry was the point. As rap evolved, the lyrics, the rhymes, the poetry evolve, but the music behind it didn’t. So I’m talking about bands, like Earth, wind and fire, who worked those extended chord, progressions in, even Michael Jackson create a complex harmonies. Today they were far fewer, trained musicians riding, and they haven’t been schooled in those richer cord progressions that came originally from jazz. I’m out of a lazy riding and performing these days. That’s what I hear.
