    This is probably one of the most powerful stories I’ve heard using labels and mirrors.
    On a personal note I can also attest so many times during anxiety strikes it is hard to think. And a hard cry seems to release a lot of positive endorphins allowing it to pass.
    It is so impressive how well labels and mirrors could get anyone to that point as it is obviously necessary before coming to ration.

    Its interesting to watch you "do it" to them before you teach them how to do it.
    After reading the book and following you guys its so obvious whats happening.

    Great information as always from the Black Swan Group. Almost sounds like a little bit of information/influence on tactical empathy comes from Dale Carnegie books/strategies in how to win friends and influence people. Carnegie also stresses taking genuine interest in other people to win them over.

    What a lesson! Such an enriching gift to have a former lead hostage negotiator share their "transferable" approaches and processes that were 93% effective in the field -when in comparison mainstream sales strategies are around 0.5 to 10% effective in the field! And that story of siege was really gripping, and hope that young fella was alright in the end.
    But ye, the appreciation of the "human nature response"... Understanding that negative emotions drive decisions, and mitigating against this with the outlined strategy of approach, combined with Tactical Empathy through Labeling, Mirroring and Dynamic Silence... There is just a ton of high quality negotiation advice in this video, thank you, it is sincerely appreciated! All the best.

    Wondering if there are any other books out there to read about mirroring and labeling ( i have read “ never split the difference “ and “ego authority and failure” multiple times and think there are fanatic books. Was hoping there are other books like those two that I don’t know about thank you for your time.

    Hello Swans,
    Sick empathy vs. good empathy. I have come across such comparisons.
    To be honest, none of the presented elements convince me. What do you think about this practical approach?
    Sick empathy
    A person says - I'm jumping off a cliff into the abyss!
    You go to him over that cliff and say - dear, I understand you, that you are in a black hole, I also had it, somehow it will be solved, you just have to change your behavior, ask your family for help, I will help you do something about it, you can count on me etc. (pity, consolation, senseless advice appear). As a result, you make him want to jump even more. You take on the emotions and problems of this person. You don't help him, but you harm yourself.
    Good empathy
    You go over the cliff and say to the jumper - I'm next to you, you listen to him, repeat his words, ask deepening questions e.g. - "..and when you jump, what will it give you, what will it change, what else can you do/what is exit number 3, what decision/steps do you want to take?

    What is the difference between Tactical empathy and empathy ?

    • @NegotiationMastery
      @NegotiationMastery  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tactical Empathy is the calibrated application of emotional intelligence. The difference is with Tactical Empathy we create trust based influence by demonstrating understanding. How do you demonstrate understanding? By clearly articulating the world as they see it through their eyes.

    • @dawidbultrowicz2024
      @dawidbultrowicz2024 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NegotiationMastery first, thank you very much for the clarification. Much appreciated! I definitely have a better understanding of tactical empathy now (I didn't find such a simple explanation in your materials). Would it be a complete waste of time to share how empathy relates to what you wrote tactical empathy? Are these two different concepts ?

    • @dawidbultrowicz2024
      @dawidbultrowicz2024 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NegotiationMastery
      So empathy is the ability to understand the feelings of others. Tactical empathy is the ability to help others demonstrate how deep you're listening how thoughtful you're considering their position.
      Is this how it can be interpreted?
      How do you combine this in practice and what is the results of this?
