I simply learned a lot about the video of how it didn't give specific instructions of how to be a leader , instead it gave the attributes and techniques of what makes a good leader. Very good, this video deserves a lot of publicity
Thank you for sharing Dr. Adler! I love how the description says "so leaders can use emotional intelligence to their advantage". Its precise, but also indirecly contradictive because of the mirror effect. A leader that uses EQ with his surrounding collegues makes everyone else comfortable to give room for vulnerability and individuality growth. It advantages the team, in turn makes it that much of a healthier, hard working enviorenement for the resulting, seeking leader. It's an eternal turning circle. We are in this all together.
True, when I was working for a brutal management I was performing to my best and I was top of the performance leagues in the region, he respected me and awarded me, when I was working for a totally relaxed, respectful, understanding manager I performed way less productive, he respected me and rewarded me. Sad but it’s true for me being honest. The manager for compliance was strict as a military officer so for 22 years I worked with him I never made any mistakes when it came to compliance, conduct and paperwork performance. I knew if I made a mistake he was not going to be soft , he had zero tolerances for lousy behaviour so be always supported me and respected me in return.
"Self-awareness is the foundation of emotional intelligence. " There is your #1 tool. #2 tool, journaling is one of the best tool of achieving self- awareness. It is lots of work no doubt. You mean I have to look into myself such as my own feeling😢. It takes commitment. It takes lots work. Once you see it & expiernce ofyour own self growth that will motivate to continue to work on yourself. It still takes on going motivation , self discipline to do this. 😊
I agree. I have watched many TH-cam videos on emotional intelligence, authenticity, active listening, etc. And this video is a stand out. No “bumper sticker”, disposable pop-psychology on this one. An awesome breakdown, with useable points.
I believe we are all leaders in our own sphere and this topic can't be overemphasized more so that self-awareness is the core of EI. Our lives can be better collectively and we also can give more to our world when we are masters first of ourselves and then others.
David Lloyd-Jones yes you stated the apparent but sadly you will not be able to build a following because you are taking life and replying to it bye explianing like a lot of interneters in gobiltigook that does not respond or enlighten the causes you want to enritchen?
Secrets of emotional intelligence: “Recognize” that I am angry right now. “Why” am I angry ? “How” to cope with my anger ? This is exactly what Dalai Lama suggested too in the book of “How to live a happy life”.
Great talk by UC Davis. There is so much we can achieve in changing ourselves for the better by just making time of self introspection and being more reflective on our thoughts and behaviors. How do I feel about this right now ? Why do I feel as such ? Could I feel differently about the same thing or experience ? If not why not ? That's my take away from this talk
Thanks. This gave me more ideas on my dissertation which is basically based on emotional and social intelligence in various types of school principles. Five stars!!!
About judgements: mine are formed through past experiences. I know what to expect from the people who surround me, because I learned through the pain, joy, growth, etc., that I experienced when interacting with them. I created a pattern, a point of observation so that I can spare myself from going through the same bad experiences again. Is it self-defense? Of course. We need to learn not to give the other face to the same people when we know exactly what we'll get from them. Some say I'm wrong and have no emotional intelligence. But if emotional intelligence means interacting with assholes, I prefer not to have any.
So you said you form your judgements about people based on the bad past experiences you've had with them...what are some bad experiences you've had with someone that made you cut them off?
Great talk, pure about the mechanism of perception process. Ultimately my perception has `filters` that convert certain life events into emotions I understand as negative feelings or anxiety. My mission statement is `love people for what they're not, its your self reflection in some ways, to love self is to love others and to love others is to love self (love as an unconditional acceptance regardless sex, race, age and standings...) p.s how could possibly someone dislike this, its academic (its not some peoples cup of tea) but its genuine and its very good.
I did not often heard of EI but now that I listened what it is I must say thst it is the full consciousness of every aspects of his " being " when he or she is fully manifesting itself in all its activities (physical emotional mental psychic even spiritual ) in other word we call that " real wisdom " because it describes what spiritual people mean . by the word wisdom and it corresponds to a state of consciousness close to illumination !! in spiritual circles .the first ingredient absolutely necessary to progress in this direction is to be honest to be true with your intimate relationship with yourself and consequently with others .there is no charisma without honesty !!
We must gain striking structure amongst the nature of ourselves.. inwardly, we bubble to burst outwardly.. to grasp the attentive concept of honing personal attributes to enhance skills sets buried deep within to guide not only ourselves, yet those thereafter...
Leaders don't tell what they want, unless they are position leaders. Hardly anything they get is of value. Leaders ask. If you are emotionally intelligent enough to understand the profound difference, you'll develop your leadership to build real followers round you.

To be a great leader comes with attributes and experiences. It also takes the indivula to be empathetic for others in order to know how to lead.
Your posture, presentation skills indicate you are emotionally intelligent.

The problem is the other person doesn’t listen to psychological talks. Most people are not that deep but driven by ego.
Please don't project, the further you'll get lost
knowledge and intention is important
Very beneficial absolutely true I’ve been through all these emotions and learned how to control it. Thank you so much that was helpful
