  • KTM Launch Control, Traction Control and Map Switch Explained
Understanding KTM’s map switch-which activates the bike’s power maps, traction control and launch control-is a valuable tool for any race day. The handlebar-mounted switch can drastically change the way the bike performs-allowing you significant advantages when used properly.
KTM Launch Control, Traction Control and Map Switch Explained
The KTM Map Switch allows riders to choose between Map 1-the standard map-and Map 2-the aggressive map. The map switch also turns on KTM Traction Control and KTM Launch Control.
    Using KTM Traction Control
KTM Traction Control can be used in maps 1 and 2 and limits real-wheel slip. It’s especially effective on dry, hard-pack terrain or anywhere traction is rare. The switch can also activate KTM’s Launch Control-a specialized, temporary KTM Traction Control setting for more effective starts with the most traction as possible.
Any changes to the map switch must be done when the bike is at idle.
    Using KTM Launch Control
Setting KTM’s launch control is done by holding the Map and TC buttons simultaneously until the FI light behind the front number plate begins to flash. Once it’s flashing, KTM Launch Control is activated.
Remember; KTM Launch Control will deactivate if the throttle is blipped or chopped. Doing so will turn KTM Launch Control off immediately. Resist the urge to blip the throttle on the starting line!
To use KTM Launch Control, activate it and turn the throttle to the desired throttle position you want for your start and then hold it there until the gate drops or the race starts. Traction Control turns off automatically the very first time you release the throttle. So, once you’ve engaged traction control, be smooth with the throttle up to your desired start rpm and don’t blip or chop it!
Always consult your model’s instruction manual for machine specific settings and instructions.

I flip my bike with traction control on number 2 as i got used to being on 1 and can't get used to 2 so if I was you get used to both, I mainly do green lanes but like technical riding lifting the front turning on hills and pivot turns so in theory need alot of traction just got so used to 1 and less power to the wheel

Kick Ass I think it stands for fuel. When your tank is low it turns on. Also, dont start your bike by holding down on the start button right away. Push it fast, wait untill the fl light turns of (wich indicates that the fuel pomp is done pre-pumping) then hold down on the start button. You’ll find the bike starts much more effortless.

Will Crain the map switch does not come on the excf models. Just the off-road bikes. You can purchase the map switch and plug it into the ecu. So the OP probably bought it separately. You should know your facts before you start calling names.
