- We believe 125s and low cost two-strokes are good for our sport and with a bit of a revival going on with the 125 Dream Races and efforts in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross we know these bikes are still capable of great racing when raced against other 125s. For this latest build, Jay Clark found a blown up 2004 RM125 that needed some love. This project shows you can fix up your dead 125 laying in the barn.

I wish I could find blown up 125s for $400. Every time I see one they want it for $200 less than a running 125 🙄

I have one 03 kx 125. Got alot of pro circuit parts. Brand new crank. Black rims. Need top end rebuild.

Love the two stroke builds! I know it would be a little out of date but a build using a 1980's machine would be kinda cool to see how competitive it would be? Just a thought....

i just pulled out my 2001 from basement where it has been sitting in various boxes for 15yrs .... it was the first brand new bike i was able to get - got it in spring 2002 as a leftover for i think 3500 there about .... raced the full spring-summer-fall outdoor series here in western ny (then the Western New York Motocross Association) then a few races in 2003 before the lower rod bearing let go at that point i bought rm250 and moved up to 250 class (back when it was 125 and 250).i actually raced while the sport transitioned to four strokes i remember all the promises "like they would be quieter lmao" but anyway i just split the case looked it all over then ordered wiseco crank kit and piston the clutch was spanked too the baskets on those didnt hold up or allow for cooling via fluid flow through basket . sandblasted the frame put some paint on it and thats about where i am cant wait to ride that thing again like he said in video these are nimble bikes. a blast to ride and rev to the moon ill stop back and update yall with some pics ... maybe video .......... long live 2 strokes

Love seeing the old 2strokes, like this guy says you can get one of these old bike looking good for not much money. Done my kx 125 1991 and it cost under £1900 for parts and labour (parts are a lot more expensive in the uk as we dont manufacture anything anymore) I picked the bike up for £600 so all in I was about £2400.
I picked up an 01 rm125 and it rips, rebuilt the whole engine and threw some other stuff on it and its incredible.
I love Suzuki 2 strokes great machines, back when riders were real riders

Nice build for sure. I have a 87 kx125 bone stock still has original chain a sprocket on it. Still runs.
Frkn awesome man i feel like this country is going under bcuz their arent too many people like us anymore. 400 dollar bike with 700 dollars of parts and its better than what it was out of the factory. Gotta love it man.
That is substantially more than 700 dollars in parts. Just in the wheelset alone.
anyone know a trick to bring some power down to bottom-mid range abit more.. the thing is like a big turbo vtec lol.. just sold my exc-500 and my old rm125 2001 is harder to ride hahah

i have one of these same bikes runs fucking strong i had my engine built after i blew it up but lasted 13 years on the original piston by previous owner and ran out of oil but i have the engine fully built now and suspensions done and it rips i love it fun bike

Rebuilt 01’ Rm125 350$. Rebuild kit (Top&Bottom end) 500$-700$. 2018-2020 restyle kit 200$. Fmf 2.1 silencer with a Doma pipe 500$. Full build was under 2500$. Bike has Won me some races. And pulled some hole shots.
I bought the same bike and it was blown up as well!! We are almost done. Piston just came in today and we put it on. Now all I need is my bearings for my forks.

What oils do I put in it. I recently got a 2 stroke Suzuki RM125 and I am not familiar with 2 strokes. The right and left side have oil spots to go in and I need to know the ratio for the mix. If you can get back to me that would be great. Or recommend me to a website or someone to call about that stuff. Thanks.

In aus a lot of people try and sell and think blown up bikes are worth 1000$+ I would be buying and building 125s all the time if they were that cheap down here!
I have and will again go into the hole to pick up a blown 125 for less than 400. Get it fresh and running for less than 2000 including the bike ride it for a few weeks and sell it for what you have in it god I love two strokes
Under 3 grand 💀 there tripping that bikes well over 3 grand to get close to it it’s 3 grand for them with all the sponsors and help they have

There's a huge number of people who are tired of fart boxes in need of expensive valve jobs and head work, who are never going to be pros, and love two strokes. Less wrenching and more riding. Thanks for the video.

These 2 smokers are growing in popularity and if you don't find them mega fun to ride then you've got something wrong with you! RV is going to ride a few 125 races in the summer now he's a Yammy guy, wonder if he can catch his brother or hot sauce I T etc?

Unfortunately the Suzuki 125 is now far from the two basics : KTM/Yamaha That’s again a big mistake from them. Suzuki is totally out, even of 4 strokes now. Just need to see all the international championships. The standard bike is already too far from the order brand.
who cares the point is they dont make them anymore and the ktm are garbage my buddied broke every single fucking time at the track and we are both decent mechanics with anal tendencies and my god that piece of expensive shit broke every goddamn time. The new 2016 125 the 2017 250 and 350 only one that has been holding up without a issue is the 500 exc but maintenance and any bling is a fuckin fortune worst investment I made was in these horse shit ktm that dont sell well either.
I didn’t say KTM are the best bike ever, but regarding performances this Suzuki is very far from the other actual brand !
The chassis is old, the suspensions and engine as well.
How many horse power do you get with it?
You care about performances if you do race !
The Suzuki 125 has a shitty gearbox if you go on this side.

I agree 100% I don't think any of the older gen even the newer gen 125cc can not compete with the 250fs but they have 125 classes that do allow modification to enhance performance but you're right it will be hard to match performance with the newer model 125cc but you wont be spending nearly as much ( new yz125 will cost more to have race ready than a say 05 kx125 bought for 1000 and put 2500 into it )
I didn't build it so no loyalties anywhere lol and honestly Im a bit appalled this guy had the audacity to say the build was affordable when the "cheaper" wheel set was over a grand!
