I saved up for a brand new YZ250 in 2000. Turned it into a Jeff Emig #11 replica with GFX kit, fmf expansion pipe and exhaust, gold excel rims and a year later it was stolen. Silently cut my garage door off in the dead of night to get to it and my German Shepherd that usually barks at a mosquito flying past the house never left REM sleep. It wasn't until 2011 until I could get another bike. I had a car stolen, a car stereo stolen out of said car too. Even had a GF stolen off me. Nothing hurt like that YZ not being there in the morning. If I saw someone stealing a dirtbike, or knew of someone that stole one...all bets would be off. Nice work on the bike. Very satisfying to watch.

Nice work. My elder brother was a nasty piece of work. He really was and still is. I was rebuilding my Honda MT 125 and fitting a CR barrel and piston to it. He was watching me. As I was fitting the piston to the conrod, my mother called out saying there was someone on the phone for me. I answered the phone call and went back to working on the bike. It ran really well and I had fun for a week before the flywheel actually came off due to the end of the crankshaft cracking open. I took the engine to a shop to have a new crankshaft fitted and on collection, they told me that the piston had been fitted the wrong way around. My ratfink brother had done that while I was on the phone. But there wasn't a mark on the barrel or piston. His ploy didn't work but your vid reminded me of it. BTW, I beat the snot out him for that.....

Not really - there are so many aftermarket parts available for most of these bikes. I had some trouble finding OEM powervalve components for the 2001 KX250 build a couple years ago. For the most part it hasn't been much of an issue with the bikes I've worked on.
Ok I see, when I think of aftermarket, cheap knockoffs parts comes to mind. But I see some aftermarket parts are not so bad, OEM is best I’m sure but availability isn’t always there.
To be 100% honest, I’m not an expert in that realm. Yes, it was nikasil plated. I believe in general, honing nikasil is a no go. Being it was one small spot, I wanted to try it. We put a few hard hours on this bike before I sold it and it ran like a top. I felt pretty confident in the repair. But it is probably not considered best practice.

You can certainly go watch the build video if you would like to see why it's priced that way. The suspension alone costs over $5000 and there was nothing left untouched on the build. Again, the build cost was over $12000.
You say you flip bikes. So why would you spend 12k on a build just to sell it for 7k? Something is not adding up. You’re either terrible at business or it cost like 4k to build.
