Travis Pastrana Two-Stroke Motocross 2003 Suzuki RM125 | Garage Build | Racer X Films

- Our base platform for this build was a 2003 Suzuki RM125 two-stroke that we essentially resurrected from the grave. It was a Craigslist find, and our bike builder, Scott Adkins of Pro SX MX Tech, was pretty upset when I brought the bike in for him to check out. (“That thing’s junk, take it back!” were the first words he uttered.) After some convincing, he finally decided to take it on. That was May of 2018. During the course of an entire year, Scott and his student Matt Goodbred slowly worked on tearing the bike apart, determining what was usable, and getting a parts list ready for the build. We used all of what's listed below, plus an incredibly long list of OEM parts.
Note: this project bike is not affiliated with Travis Pastrana or his sponsors. It was built for Racer X Illustrated and we are more than grateful that Pastrana agreed to ride it for our video. Thanks, Travis!

It's always fun to be reminded that TP is/was an actual world class racer
Crazymx51 and then he was world class in rally cars! He's an extraordinary talent.
Seeing Travis on a 125 definitely brings back the memories from almost 20yrs ago. Travis, your still the man.
Chris: for me it is 40 years. Still remember that unique smell and sound, with pinning it everywhere. O the memories.
Me too. I got to ride with him at a Gary Bailey riding school back in the early 90's, I was on 125 and he was still on an 80cc.
For sure 💪🤙👍🔥🔥🔥
With all the things hes done its easy to forget that he was a pro MX/SX racer. I miss watching him race because his style was so unique.
I was at Washougal in 2000, I remember him wheeling his 125 through that nasty whoop section right before the finish line.
He could annialate a set of whoops. And pulling off jumps and rythems in supercross on a 125 that half the 250s wouldnt even do lol
@@bmocaby9747agree and and I thought he done it with not much input 👍🇦🇺
“It feels like 2000 again” man... I wish motocross could go back to those days!
So bad man. I was just showing my nephew the old mxs toys I had when I was a kid of Carmicheal and Pastrana and all those guys. All still riding the 250's and racing was actually racing. Like when Carmicheal block passed McGrath and then the very next corner let him go by because he knew it wouldn't be fair to win that way, that's racing... miss those days so much. Will forever be stuck there.
@@lakdflkdjf Wow, nobody would be so gracious these days. Welcome to 2020, where riders block-pass every corner. Lol
@@YFZriderdude15 Yeah dude its disgusting to watch honestly. That's how every sport is going these days it's a sad sight
Me too😭
@@lakdflkdjf on ne le ooooô
I swear Travis could KO himself and still give the good ol signature thumbs up. Legend
ready to see your 250 finished up!! hearing this makes me smile!!LOL I have a 92 rmx250 that is completely torn down. Need this winter and more time (along with some $$) to get it back together with some friends help. I couldn't have a bike growing up...but loved to watch 199!! He has always been a favorite
keep kicking cancers ass!! suspension on cr250 looks 1000%
@@caseysniper308 ok I'm outta the loop I guess. He's got cancer now ?
Looks like this RM has the same Ti nitride fork finish you just got lol. Instantly thought of your recent vid when I saw them here
@@jasonjessup8078 my bad message was to cam
Feels like 2000´ again!
its a shame there will only be one travis pastrana. if anyone was ever needed to be cloned it should be him. an exact carbon copy!
His dad should be to put out more travis
GrizzlyAaron ...carbon fiber copy!
with steel bones too!
Dangerboy Deegan is pretty fearless and still reall young give him time
He should have raced at one of the 125 nationals this year.
The Borden Asylum his knees are blown out, he could barely do 3 laps and redbud for MXON
The Borden Asylum way too many injuries I think, he's proved himself
That bike is dang pretty and Travis is probably one of the best all around racers EVER!
I got an 2000 RM125 and it rips! seeing the potential of the bike in the hands of a world class rider like TP is awesome!!!!! love this video
Rite i have an 01' rm125 and 03' rm125 watching him own riding them made me want them otherwise im a yamaha fan but the rm look better and rip.
Travis will forever be my first motocross hero. Just some about seeing 199 rip around the track doing tricks.
One of the most genuine guys out there.
Bike sounds soo good! Even looked good... for a Suzuki.
That’s one of the freshest 125s ive seen in a while
Suzuki is clean asf
I love that man more than a man should ever love another man.
It don't matter what this guy rides or what style of the riding he's doing, he's one of if not they best all round rides still riding today...
Oh, and that's the best looking 125 I've seen for a while...
Good Old Legend Pastrana + 2 stroke = Perfection👌
Dude just never gets old 🤘
Travis Pastrana will always be a legend in my book
TP a living legend. Love that kid, beast mode, brass balls, all heart. 💖
It’s actually pretty amazing he can still ride so well with the condition of his body!
Racer X... thank you so much for this video
Pure music, great riding, awesome track, sick bike!
One of a kind RM 125 there she’s a beauty super Smooth suspension soaking up everything like it’s nothing send it Keep The throttles pend You got love A good old two-stroke if you don’t you’re just hating .. Nice video💯💪🏿
Awesome build!!! Travis can still rip!!!
Thats a damn beautiful work of art there folks.
How can you not love this guy? no homo
This bikes handled so freaking well man, hard to beat with a bib bore on them.
Best video I have seen of Pastrana in a long time
That was an awesome video. Travis is the man
It's a pity I can only like this video once. So awesome to see Travis on a 125!
mans has racing in his dna, most fun guy ever to watch ride a bike.
Its impossible for Pastrami to get around the course without doin some tricks
To be honest the only thing that sucks about this video is that it's not an hour long. I watched this on repeat!
With all these recent two stroke videos, the All-Star series, and the general consensus that 2t's are more fun and exciting to ride/watch I seriously hope they start to make a comeback!
This video is so amazing I’m literally crying
Travis still got it. He jumped up like a teenager to pick her up off the ground!
Make this guy live forever!
Some riders just have so much talent that they ride so smooth and it doesn’t look like they use very much effort at all.
Never again will there be someone so talented in so many areas, Travis was a top level pro competing in the XGames before finishing puberty 😂 GOAT of action sports and it’s not even close
This guy is such a stud. Thankful he chooses to live life in the public eye.
Beautiful bike. Love the vintage graphic kit
So cool just to see him ride without all the flips and stunts. That stuff is rad but seeing all the raw natural talent on a motocross track is awesome
Just reminded me of seeing him in 99 2001. That 125 screamin. God bless travis pastrana
Travis is a very nice guy he signed two of my motocross helmets
That RM is soooo sick
Travis is a legend, and that little RM looks top class
got a rm125 from 2003 just because of him and his bike sounds exactly the same, oh the feelings.
Legendary Pastrana !
He is still quick. Love TP an absolute champion
back in the late 70's, every kid in the neighborhood had one of these.
Just the amount of control he has on the bike looks very comfortable
This guy is such a legend
That sound gave me goose bumps . Mixing gas and hauling ass 2 stroke 4 life
The legend
Best video in years!
I love how casual his heel click and nacs were
Travis for 125 all stars races would be great to watch
Things crisp!
Sick video and such nice bike! Awesome.
The most likeable person in motorsports. 😊
Travis the Legend
I really wanna see the 97-00 era of Suzuki restored and him riding it. I’d build one myself if I was rich . Lol
Music to my ears 🎧🎧
Trav is the real GOAT
Nice to seeTravis riding a motocross how it should be haha not into a foam pit or trying a triple backflip
The sound of this RM Is the best of every bikes
Awesome! Miss my 03 125, Travis of you need a place to store that I would be more than happy
Motocross then > motocross now.
Bro was rippin it 🏍💨 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That bike is sooooo sick
A lenda Travis Pastrana...
He was born to ride n drive anything..fast ..and always stylin
Oh god, fantastic RM!!!
Travis is the one dude who we will never see swing a leg over a 4 stroke
Damn that bike looks so good
I want that gear so bad 😍
Sounds sick looks awesome
The legend of motocross.....
Graphics are sick
2000.. Those were the days 😢
Love that RMZ 😍💨
The Best ,,, The Legend ,,, God of freestyle motocross !!! 👌👍👏
Damn... look at the angle of his pegs! Dude means business. Can’t wait for straight rhythm.
That looks mint
That bike is sick
Bike looks awesome 🤘 Go 199! 👌
I’m probably going to get a 125 and I am really excited
Esse cara é uma lenda!
he really knows how to have fun!
Travis is gnarly
The first time I him ride he was jumping the biggest jump at Budda Creek MD on an RM 85. If he didn't ride DISTRACTED, he could have been the greasted rider of all TIME!! I call him Travis Post Trama!
Wow I wish my 1994 rm 125 ran like this one
Mixin gas and kickin ass! 👏🏼👏🏼
Hope he does a 125 race next year
Travis Pastrana
Good stuff....
Please more videos like this !!!!
That bike was too nice to ride.
Legend on one hell of a 125
sick bike
Bike looked sick! TP always a pleasure to see you! Thanks for having vision!
