    Super simple and delicious way to make fish. If you don’t have a wok, use a steamer or any large pan with a lid that can accommodate your plate. Happy Sunday! 💕

    Oh my goodness 😳 this brings me back to college days when I moved out of the dorms into an apartment. My roommate from Hong Kong used to make this for dinner. It was so delicious. She made it from frozen fillets of whitefish. She steamed the fish in our only sauce pan with chopsticks on the bottom immersed in H20 to hold up the plate -- poor college students. 😅🤣😂🤣

    About halfway through this video I thought to myself "this fish would be delicious with the ginger-green onion condiment that goes with Hainanese chicken". And that seems to be what you made! Thanks to your videos I have learned so much about flavors and combinations of flavors that I never thought of before. Thank you so much for another great recipe, I can't wait to make this!

I steam rice, seafood, meat, Mince pork ginger mince & oyster sauce, egg....Save gas long term especially steam braise meat that requires 2.5 hours up. Steam Porridge 2.5 hours. Labour free

    You are such a wonderful cook! Simple, but delicious. Do you have any idea what the temperature of the fish should be when it’s done? I’m sort of paranoid about not cooking it sufficiently, so I would like to use a thermometer. Thank you!

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I rarely use a thermometer. You can use a knife or chopstick to poke it. If it shows any resistance, it means it is still a bit raw. But if it slides easily through it is cooked. You don’t want to overcook fish, it will become mealy and dry. Hope that helps.

      Cooked chicken with the Head still on it? I would have thrown up at the Table. When I was a Preteen, a Week was spent on my Baba's farm, every year, it was Chicken Week. First thing, was off with their Head, then they would run around in circles flapping their wings. Us Kids were the ones who caught the Chickens and gave them to Baba, who did the beheading. Our next Job was to Pluck the Birds, horrible and smelly. The Adults did the rest. Of course for the whole week it was chicken for all meals. Eggs for Breakfast. Chicken Soup and Roast/Fried Chicken for Dinner and Supper. I was about 10 when I was looking a Drumstick in my hand, and realized that a few hours earlier, it had been running around the yard...

      @@violetviolet888 25 yrs ago I took my girlfriend's 10 yr old son to the farm with me. It was when the cows were calving, and he got to see a calf being born. When talking with him about it, he said that was the first time he had ever seen a cow. I was oh, well you see that big sack hanging from the cow. That is where the milk you put on your cereal comes from. He didn't believe me so, he got to see a cow being milked by hand, and what was in the pail.

    Massage the raw fillets with your fingers. That should find any stray bones. It's good to study the bone structure of the fish. Understanding that will help you find those hidden bones. Give the kids the tail end of the fish. There are no bones behind the back of the rib cage.

      Chopsticks are actually more refine and higher etiquette than eating with forks and knives. Notice how there is never a knife at a Chinese table. Everything is a able to be eaten with chopsticks because knives at the table are considered barbaric. Learn how to use proper tools to eat.

    if you are careful, steaming a whole fish is a lot better from a flavor standpoint. The sweetness of the bones and cartilage would be missing. Same reason these parts are the basis for fish stock. The head is treasured by many and can be more delicious than the meat Ever seen a fight for that part?

      Yes. But the point of this recipe is to not have to deal with the bones. Many of us still steam the whole fish.
