As a Turk, let me say that prices in Turkey have become terribly expensive. And it is increasing day by day. We, the Turks, no longer think of going on holiday anywhere in Turkey. Greek islands are much cheaper. Prices in cafes and restaurants in the most ordinary places are incredibly expensive. A beer in a regular place costs around $7. If you want to try Turkish raki, be prepared to spend a fortune. I do not recommend going on holiday in Turkey at all.

In Turkey right now, from Australia! More expensive than my relatives who went a year ago.
We got a menu where the old prices are covered with a sticker. We lifted the sticker. In one increase, here are some examples in Australian Dollars:
    Garlic bread $1 now $8
    Margarita drink $3 now $15
    Soup $2 now $10
At the beach a man tried selling coconuts to drink $20 each.
I bought a bottle of water and a small pack of biscuits $12.
Entry to many ruins around $60.
Unless we eat a kebab, dinners are around $50-$80 for two people. Excludes alcohol (don't drink much).

I've been in Istanbul for the last 5 days and the price gouging towards tourist has been ridiculous especially when they notice you have an American or British accent. Just be careful and ask for the price before you order or buy anything - I noticed alot of places don't have them posted or maybe purposely leave them blank these days. Got charged150 liras for a Turkish coffee which equals to about $4.50 low-end cafe in Kadikoy (it was obviously not the usual price they charge and was severely marked up). I'm better of going to Starbucks at this point.

I live in Italy, but half of my family lives in Turkey. The prices nowadays are much higher in Turkey compared to the salaries. When I go there, I "live" as a normal Turk, not as a tourist: 10-15 euros for a 100-gram döner kebab? It's crazy; in Italy it's way cheaper and bigger, a country where a kebab is definitely not a national dish. For comparison, I never found another place in the world where pizza is as cheap as italy expect third world countries. The fact that they always ask you about the weight in grams is an indicator that things are not going well. I used to open Yemek Sepeti and order whatever I wanted, still being sure that it would be cheap for me with an Italian salary. The last time I went there (in March), it was the opposite! It was more expensive or the same price, but in a country where the average salary is a third of what it is in Italy.
I don’t know what Erdogan is doing and what he will do to fix this, but it’s getting really crazy

If you want to eat cheap and good quality food in Istanbul, it is better to stay away from the restaurants that are in the tourist area. Living in Türkiye the inflation rate was over 100% so prices more than doubled literally övernight, food , transport. Rent, bills etc, everything has become much more expensive. Stores such as Zara and Marks& Spencer are now more expensive than the UK. ( they used to be a lot cheaper). In istanbul the area you are calling the city centre is Sultanahmet, this is not the city centre. Sultanahmet is the historic, expensive touristic area. The city center is Taksim area, from the gayrettepe metro get off at Taksim or Şişhane this is the city centre. Also for your information from the location of your hotel, Nişantaşi, Beşiktaş are beautiful area's of the city to explore. With regards to restaurant prices, away from touristic areas you can eat in locanta's very cheaply, soup, chicken stew rice vegetables and bread and a drink around ₺200. You can also use your istanbulkart on the ferrys accros the Bosphorus around 17₺. Enjoy xx

I went to Istanbul a month ago and I remember paying £79 for a Turkish kebab for two, this was at at a restaurant from a side street. There was no rooftop dining as it was only eating at the side street.
Everything was expensive and I learnt from it that don’t buy anything unreasonably expensive there as if you wouldn’t buy anything stupidly high in the UK and always remember to use a calculator with you to work out the rate before you buy so you know if they’re ripping you off.

For me, doesn't make a difference if its Stockholm in Sweden or Palma de Mallorca in Spain, poverty is the same in every language
Turkeys situation is similar to Morocco's which is sadly infrastructural aftermath of earthquakes/natural disaster and unexpected bills they simply cant afford to accommodate just like that!!
But it's the same sob story in the UK over, flooding, tornados and extreme weather events here aswell.
Might not be as deadly here, but extreme weather has caused a lot of "no fault homelessness" cases in the UK and Ireland aswell

I am headed back to Istanbul in November. My last trip was the winter of 2021. This will be my 8th trip to Türkiye, so if it wasn't for the close friends I have made over the years in this country and my adopted Turkish family, I would not be returning to Istanbul. Since I don't want or need any souvenirs, and I am renting an apartment, my biggest expense will be food while I am there. Because of the skyrocketing prices charged at restaurants, this is why I rented an apartment with a kitchen. I will definitely be cooking most of my meals. But of course I love Turkish food and I plan to eat out at least once a day. If I can't walk to my destination in a reasonable amount of time or it's too far, I will rely on public transportation, especially since I still have my Istanbulkart from my last trip. My Turkish family and friends have warned me about how expensive everything is now in Istanbul and thank goodness I speak enough Turkish that I hope I can avoid the price gouging to tourists by some of the locals. I can't wait to return to this beloved city but at the same time, I know I will be heartbroken that this city is not the same city it was even since my last visit. People are desperate now in this country and I can't blame them.

When in Turkey always go to small side shops and street food still have low prices and plus you always pay in lira don't pay in euro or pounds. Also to get around use the public transport like metro and busses and uber and when at airport dont get taxi get uber. We going antalya this September and I've booked a private driver to take us to our hotel which is over hr drive from airport and I've paid £35 that for 3 adults and two kids. And that good price. You just have to think smart and hagle all this buying kebab for like £80 jokes 😂😂 you clearly got robbed if you don't act smart you will get scammed and this can happen in any country also in Turkey use revlout or Monza as they give you the best exchange rates if you don't want to carry cash

Is the UK, like the US, a country with different races? Are Africans, Latin Americans, Arabs, Iranians, South Asians, Indians, Pakistanis, East Asians, Chinese, Southeast Asians, Thais, Vietnamese, and Filipinos all seen in the UK?

In the UK, if a normal young man is too lazy to work, has no house to live in, and no money to eat, the government will not force him to work, but it will not give him money, right?

Far too dangerous a Country, we lived there. We saw barmen refilling empty bottles with left-over beer and resealing the bottles for the next customer. Micro-cameras fitted in ladies bathrooms another example.
