10/10 video thanks guys. Turkey is on our next itinerary, we are going for 2 months as part of a much longer trip so eating cheap is right up our alley.
Hello, we just came back from Istanbul. We watched few of you videos before visiting the city. We found the exact baklava place from your video. It was the best baklava we had. Thanks for your ideas and have a great time in Istanbul. It's pretty awesome city.
We are so happy you had a great time here and that you found our favorite baklava shop! We will translate your comment and show them tomorrow when we go 😀! They will love to see this! It has been some time since we made this video and in that time we have come close to the owners of the shop! They are two brothers and their sons and we truly believe they are the best in the city! We have even told locals and they have tried it and agree!
Welcome back. Beverages in Turkey are probiotic (ayran, boza, turnip, pickle juice, kefir). When you first drink it, it tastes bad, but once you drink it, you cannot stop it. It is also very healthy. Because the food is so delicious, we eat a lot and try to balance it with drinks.
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed our video! Be sure to check out our other Istanbul videos as well!! Hope you have an amazing trip and fall in love with this city just like we have!
Thank you for this "feel good" video. The fact that you are constantly smiling and of course the skilful videography make your vlogs a pleasure to watch. I just send an email to you and look forward to receiving your reply!
Another great video! Seems like inflation has avoided food in Istanbul, here in the states, it seems like 'dining out' is up 25% or more compared to a year or so ago. $20 can disappear in a flash! Our best Holiday Wishes to both of you.
Boza is an extremely nutritious drink. Many people don't like it when they try it for the first time. However, you get addicted to it after having it 3/4 times. I almost smelled the butter in that havuc dilimi (carrot slice) baklava. All the best.
I first tried it in 2004, lived in Istanbul for 3 years that time, last came in 2022 and still do not like it ;-) but my daughter makes me go to Fatih late at night to buy the original stuff, she loves it :-)
That was fun, 20 bucks for 2 -whata deal -maybe you can show modern luxury homes for rent because if the average wage is 500 a month for 2000 rental I would think it would be oceanfront maybe, can google translate work good enough there to get by-Great smiles keep the videos coming
When i was in istanbul for a week - i ate a bunch of baklava EVERY... SINGLE.. DAY.. Once i bought half a kg of baklava for my hotel room just for myself and finished it in a day and a half.. and that didnt even include all the different types of baklava and sweets i was inhaling as i roamed around sightseeing outside.. I underestimated how much walking i needed to do to offset all that sugar because i definitely came back heavier..
Well its not that inexpensive for Turkish ppl. 60% of the workers amongst total working population earns 450$ per month. Most of Turkish forgot how was it feel like eating meat. Turkey welcomes you (as long as you bring your dollars/eurs)
Istanbul is absolutely wonderful 👍 I saw that you loved Mardin. If you're able catch a flight to Beirut, Lebanon; it's a beautiful country, and if you can, come and visit Syria; lots of history and natural beauty. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks for the video guys. I watched a couple of videos related to shopping in Turkey and I couldn't believe how cheap it is but after watching this video, it just confirmed it for me.
Glad you liked the video! Thanks for taking the time to comment! Be sure to check out our update video… it is still very affordable here but prices have changed a lot over the past year…😳
I see that Bütme Evi is now closed. Do you have another Gözleme recommedation in Kadikoy? Visiting Istanbul for the first time next week and your videos have been awesome prep. Thank you so much.

Hello! Would anyone be able to tell if things have become more expensive now as compared to when this video was made? I've noticed a lot of things went up in price in the last 2 months (including attraction tickets, local travel, some restaurants), so would be good to know!
That’s quite an interesting experiment. Thank you for sharing it with us. Enjoy your time in Istanbul, despite the fact that winter is not the best season to spend there. Anyway, spring is around the corner, just a few more months!

20 USD for two people is not cheap in Istanbul! I am Swedish, and lived In Istanbul for 9 years, between 2000 and 2019, on and off, including 4-5 years in Kadiköy. Salaries for expats and Turks alike have plummeted while prices have skyrocketed in the past few years. For example, just a few years ago, a tavuk döner with an ayran used to be 4 TL. My Turkish friends are really suffering, having had rent increases of up to 350% per year! I suggest you take a few moments to consider locals before saying how cheap everything is in Istanbul 😢
