The Japanese have legends like the Supra,Evo,STI, NSX and more. The Europeans have the Italian supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan,Ferrari 488 GTB, and much more. However, in the American corner is the brute force of legends like the Ford GT,Dodge Hellcat, Dodge Demon, and Shelby GT350R. Out of the darkness in it's orange coat of paint is the brand new 2019 Corvette ZR1 - a car that literally melts your face off with it's acceleration and g forces. I've commented something similar on other videos about these new super cars that only come with those stupid paddle shifters. You're eliminating so much of the driving involved in driving fast.

Been working hard my whole life to get a Corvette. I know many don't think of it as a dream car but I have always wanted one since I seen the bright yellow ones in the early 90s when I was around 4 years old. Now I am at the point where I can buy a Z06 or wait a couple more years for a Zr1. But by that time the mid engine corvette will be out lol. My family is mostly a mustang and challenger fan, but the base model of both cars are not rare here. Everyone seems to have one in my area

This ZR1 is a dream car and in a manual it is a dream perfected. Sadly you will not see the C8 in a manual so when you get your C7 ZR1 it will be a future classic. Enjoy it!

I had no idea this car was even a thing, but it's so cool and probably my favorite corvette of all time. I've always been a fan of Vette's but this thing is just crazy.

This has to be one of the best Corvettes ever made. The color, performance, sounds, feeling, everything is top notch for Chevy. I saw one once in real life and videos/photos could never do it justice. It definitely rivals the Challenger SRT Demon.

Demon makes 100 hp more which is enough to be very noticeable.
Sparkle Dust yeah the demon beats it in a straight line, but it's got 100 more hp and has drag slicks. you can't compare the zr1, a track car, to the demon, a drag car.
Not really a competitor to the demon, this is more of a competitor to cars like the AMG GT-R and such. This is a sports car, not a muscle car like the demon.
What I meant by comparing the ZR1 to the Demon is what they did in their respective fields. The ZR1 is a supercar slayer in terms of value while the Demon is the ultimate production drag machine. It's not like anyone is taking the Demon on a track day or the ZR1 out to the local drag strip. I could see how the misinterpretation occurred and I should have clarified more. But still, we can all agree the ZR1 is an insane and unexpected car from Chevrolet and is one of the best Corvettes we have seen since the C2.

My Uncle purchased a 1969 LT1 4spd 375 BHP Stingray and it was awesome! That was about 1972.

What an enjoyable review...the reviewer's joy in the car makes you feel like you are there with him. As fantastic as this "ultimate" Vette is, I can't wait to see what the mid-engine ZR1 will be like. We are talking hypercar, I’m sure. I've been loving Vettes since 1959 when I was a kid, and it's amazing to think how far the iconic American car has come.
I had never been in one until I just recently bought one, and, just, wow. I had a C7 Z06 and there is absolutely no comparison. The ZR1 is so much smoother in everything it does than my Z06 was. The one I just bought two months ago was a one owner clean Carfax with 3145 miles and is mint. I will keep this car forever. Sometimes I go out into the garage in the middle of the night just to look at it…and giggle like a school girl. By the way, I bought my C7 Z06 new and had Vengeance do a stage 3 build on it. They do awesome work there. I had 888s on the back of the Z06 because they were necessary after the build. They are louder and not as smooth but damn they are sticky and get the job done. Great video, man!

Im not a big GM fan but the drive train in them is properly well built. Their automatic transmissions are the best you can get in a factory car. that is indeed a beautiful paint color on it as well

It's so nice to see how American cars have evolved. They have made great improvements in handling and aesthetics. The engines were ever strong. The best part is that they now have an automatic gearbox that gives them a great advantage in speeding up faster and writing better times in a quarter of a mile

What a nice looking car not to mention if it is the last year of the front engine this car is beautiful it's amazing how far they've come with the Corvette interior and the ZR1 the way it shifts and the motor just keeps going amazing I'm sure the car has a top speed of 220 depending on gears who knows

I think the ZR1 is amazing and it's become one of my new dream cars! I have to say though I prefer the look of it with the standard wing personally. The car is just ridiculous and I would give anything to drive one. This is coming from a Mopar guy too.

You're right it nvr was about impressing or speed, at first it was the only way they knew how to make a reliable trans. Then it was all about being a cheaper alternative for those who couldn't afford the extra cost of the auto trans option. When I first learned to drive, in the late 70s . My father made sure my sister & I needed to learn to drive a manual trans . When I bought my 2014 Camaro, I couldn’t believe how tough it was to even find a manual trans !

Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson This whole review he talked about how everything was amazing on this car including handling and braking. This coming from a guy who tends to like fords. It is a great car. Fords mustang gt350r hangs with the camaro zl1 but nothing they make hangs with the zr1. And you can not say the gt cause it is not a real car anyone can buy and was insanely expensive. And honestly the zr1 could still probably beat it at the track. And for sure in the 1/4

Corvettes are Sports Car my dude they were never Muscle Cars, the only Muscle Cars today are the Charger and Challenger and no the Camaro and Mustang aren't Muscle Cars but are Pony Cars and in this modern era are Sports Cars as well.

A Muscle car is a 2+2 with a Massive engine, the original Charger was a Coupe and Saloon and was one of the earliest muscle cars the Hudson Hornet was also a Coupe and Saloon and is also one of the earliest muscle cars, the term Muscle Cars is basically a Big Car with an even bigger engine which both the Challenger and Charger fit.

The 8 speed trans in these cars are amazing, no lambos here, im gunning for one of these. Yes and super comfortable, Its the only car I want to drive now. We did 1200 miles in one in So Cal.

If you think a manual is more fun, you've never been in a fast enough car to need paddles.
EMF Audio I've been in srts that are not slow mustangs and others. Sure they were fun but not as fun as a stick. Nothing beats feeling the gear change in your hand or rev matching and getting nothing but pops and crackles. Sure you can do that with paddle shifters but it's not the same. Plus if you live in the us 90% of people can't steal it haha.
If you drive the kind of things I'm talking about people can't figure out how to open the door LOL. I know where you're coming from, and I hear you, I have manual transmission too, but I'm not shifting a stick in a corner or shifting anywhere near as fast as I am a DCT. However, I don't need to shift those as fast as a DCT because I'm not doing 100 MPH in 5 seconds like I am with the DCT. My E55 AMG has a slow automatic and it's still faster than Hellcat's in a standing half mile so I wouldn't say anything you listed is fast LOL. I'm telling you, driving something truly fast, you have tunnel vision, you aren't thinking about shifting more than a button tap.
Absolutely love this car. Cant wait to see all the other lap records it is going break while costing far less than the competition. Only wish they wernt going to mid-engine. I'm sure it's going to be a huge price jump and no longer the affordable insane car that it once was.

Great video i love your enthusiasm. I’ve owned my ZR1 since last November so almost a year now and have loved every minute of it. It’s the high light to my work week to get into her. More refined then my 15 Zo6 and the extra power is 100% usable and after the two day experience they send you to in Nevada you feel like a race car driver it’s truly an awesome experience that Chevrolet does that for its customers.

The fact the gear shifts aren't instant right when you press it is a good thing because the system has to think is everything good instead of just dumping the next gear like a manual. It's safer but then it just makes sens to keep it in automatic then.

Shift delay is the reason for the smooth shifts, I imagine. The transmission probably responds instantaneously, but instead of slamming the trans into the next position, it feathers into position.
I know dick about transmissions, but that much shift lag in a modern car is stupid so there must be a reason behind it.

Best car out there..looks are amazing.. makes porsches look crap..(never been good looking anyway)..lambos ford gt gtrs etc. Performance quality for the money..theres nothing to touch it.ow that V8..wow!!! Corvette ALMS top of the leader board as well..not a brilliant season..but still top..lets hope its 3 years on the run winning the title.

Your review was great but the total validation of how great that Corvette is in the "Giddiness" and overall crazy amount of happiness you are projecting.
It's the American supercar it has strived to be. Lower cost, better performance, and competitve looks to many other foreign supercars, all from a middle class American manufacturer. You can't walk into any other supercar dealership and buy a commuter car, or a pick up truck, as well as the supercar. It's heritage is pedestrian, but it will proudly kick some ass while wearing its workboots.

I bought a new 2010 Z06 back in Oct 2009.

(with taxes & a few extras like racing pedals, deluxe carpets, car cover, etc)
I had to use my house as colateral to pay the car cash.
Now you tell me close to $ 140,000 USD.
For me that would be $ 186,200 CDN PLUS TAXES
Roughly $ 214,083.45 plus interests on 96 months...
+/- 53000 $
To end up with $ 267,000 CDN all in all.
8 years commited to $ 2,781.25 / month.
At 53 years old, i will NEVER be able to AFFORD one, even a used in 10 years which i would have to pay probably $ 90,000 cash.
Let's stop dreaming and wait a few years so this insane HP may become base model entry HP.
I can always modify mine to 1000 HP, but still it costs close to $ 69,000 CDN which is non-financeable.

After watching Matt Farrah’s video with giggling from start to finish. I knew this is a very special car, but as much as I’d want one I can’t afford it. After a deployment I’m gonna pick up a c5 due to it being affordable and was my childhood dream car.

These are very rare and extremely $$$ over here in Australia - you're looking at $250,000 Aussie or more for a mint mileage 2019 ZR1 - seriously good value though when you see what we pay for an equivalent period Lambo.

You’re the first person to review the 8-speed auto in the ZR1 with anything positive to say about it. I have only driven a C7 Z06 with it and the delay between when you pull the paddle and the actual shift occurs it an eternity. Also, the rev matching ability was very subpar compared with a good duel clutch.
Neither of what you listed are part of the transmission though. The actual transmission is superb.

jameswillard1 dude everybody uses this transmission 😂 zf8speed. Bmw uses it too. The transmission is one of the best. The time it takes to shift has nothing to do with the transmission but it’s how the company tuned it

Thats not an apples to apples comparing. You cant compare auto vs manual by simply stating theres a manual car out there that can beat an automatic car. No sht sherlock lol. Fair comparison would be Manual Viper ACR vs Auto Viper ACR (obviously if it existed). Auto would win. Our brains wont beat a computer.
Randy Pobst ran both c7 z06 auto and manual and the auto beat the stick by a over a second which is a lot, and that was the older auto which wasn't even very good compared the auto in the ZR1. He is a pro driver that hold several production car lap records, i believe he set a few of the viper acr records as well so thats a really good indicator that auto's are faster. And don't give me that crap that auto's aren't fun because if you ever drove a 755hp car around a high speed sweeper at 150mph you'd know grabbing a gear is a matter of life and death, at that speed once you commit to a turn you have to follow through, just easing off the gas is enough to cause the weight to transfer off the back wheels and send you into a wall backwards so the possibility messing up a shift is more fun then any driver in a car that fast. Now in 200hp BMW and Honda's yea manual or its boring but not in a 755hp monster

I feel like the Corvette ZR1 is really over-styled. Almost like the Civic Type-R
UpperRobin29 it it's too gaudy for my taste. The civic too but hey, it's a civic. Dodge did a great job not overstyling their higher trims challengers. Though it REALLY needs an update.

The new front end is actually needed. This car doesn't overheat like the zo6, despite making 105 more horsepower.

All the hate on this car. For no reason, because it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Accelerate with brute force, corner with brute force, and look and sound pretty mean while doing it. It’s a monster, and what you get for the money is pretty impressive.

The one thing I can say about the higher Hp vehicles I have driven is that GM has the ass end swing in gearshifts that is OH so forgiving! Dont you dare let off but its that 30 degrees and it stays right there that Ive always had to admire! Next gear might be a swing to the other side but you almost anticipate that 30 degrees and your good. Cant say that for a lot of other car makers out there.
Ah, the new ZR1. I saw my first one at a local Ferrari Concorso. The car had the same color as this one and stuck out like a sore thumb. But, since it would run with them all on or off the track it definitely belonged in the lineup. I am impressed by the newer vettes but I have not gotten a chance behind the wheel of one. My experience stops with a 1985 C4. Watching this video just makes me want to experience newer vettes more! My personal favorite is still the "king of the hill" C4 ZR1. There is just something about it.
Also, that 4K sure looks crispy. No difference on a phone, but on a 24" PC screen I see the sharpness. Don't believe me? Stick around till the end if you are watching on PC... You'll see that 1080p commercial footage roll in and go: ewwwwww! (and then the realization that all my footage is EWWWW sets in... Damnit... Starving artist here boss!)
